I am a carpenter who recently started set building for a local theater group. This was great! Thank you
You forgot that the parcan can be suited with different angles of par 64 lamps: Very Narrow or spot, Narrow, Medium and Steeple.
Started my own theatre company. I was an actor turned director. I didn’t go to school for this and I want to learn as much as I can. That is why I’m here today. Thank you for this video
What do the words, "White Station Proud" mean? Plz let us know.
It was the high school i was teaching at at the time the videos were made.
Great video, thanks!
Thank you so much this was very helpful as a non native English language speaker trying to study literature ❤❤❤❤
❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you
really great job!! Thank you
um.... lazy... it's a galaxy class :)
This was a fantastic tutorial. I'm the light designer at a high school in NY. I'd love to learn more about your program
thank you man !
One of these lights got me in the eye recently. It’s crazy how bright they are.
I really enjoyed this story telling video, love ur style of video, keep going ❤
Thank you
Hey Brandon! How fun that I am searching musical theatre lessons and you come up! :) Great video! I'm teaching an intro to musical theatre class for 65+ folks next week and this will be great!

i'm so happy i found your channel! i really wanted to learn the basics of set design, and your videos will be so much help :)
Thank you for making this video, I’m currently in the process of making a stage design portfolio for an university and this helps me tremendously!
I'm very happy it helped. If there is anything else I can do to help, please let me know.
Thank you.
very helpful. thank you so much.
Informative video, thank u so much
Thank you so much for the video, it's wonderfully done! I have an English literature exam tomorrow and it's useful to refresh my knowledge on this play :D
I hope it was helpful and that you did well on the test.
Thanks for the overview! This is excellent! I also think the Chapter marker says "Park Hands" , while it should be "PAR Cans"
Thanks for this!
Thank you.
Thank you!
How do I design a set for a dance performance
I would depend on what they are looking for and how many people there are. Most of the dance performances I have worked on the stage has been primarily empty, with large set pieces like flats of projection screens along the upper stage left and right areas, creating more negative space for the dancers to occupy. I have also seen a few that use a unit set with several different levels, but once again most of those were usually more upstage leaving the downstage empty. What type of dance show is it?
Do you use eos to program the lighting for your shows? What company made the cannons? Lastly, some advice, techie to techie, don't touch the bulb with bare hands, if any of the oils from your skin get on that bulb, it could cause the bulb to expand and/or shatter.
That's a really good safety tip to keep in might
Thank you
I believe if you look into it you will find Amelia Bassano was Italian. Calling someone “dark” in those times referred to anyone with olive skin and dark eyebrows and hair as well as Africans. Love your channel and your passion.😉
That's excellent information to have, thank you!
very informative!
Very well thank you
Way to go WSHS theater!!! You are a bunch of talented actors and actresses!
I'm curious what it is about this video that has gotten so many views. Not that I'm complaining. I'm really happy people have found the information useful.
I got here because there's not much out there online for set design and also I wanted to know how to create ceilings for sets haha
@@moremiad From what I understand very few set actually have full ceilings because if they did it would be much more difficult for them be lit. The ones I have seen and worked on that did have a ceiling usually placed it at an upward angle or created a suggested ceiling but had the playing area extend way past it to allow the light sources to reach them
I'm helping choreograph a contemporary acrobatic show. I feel lost trying to come up with ideas without knowing the environment will be there when we are on stage. I wanted to learn how to create a set and came across your video. Thank you for all the great info! Going to browse through your channel, but are there any other videos you can recommend that might help me in this journey? I've never done anything like this before, but I'm excited! Anyways, thanks again!! There's a page of my notebook dedicated to my findings and thoughts from this video!
@@ashlyncarlini2356 I would love to help in any way I can. I'm afraid I can't think of any videos off the top of my head, but If you want to send some specifics of what you're looking for to brandonl@mtaonline.net, I'll see if I can come up with anything that help you on this. I'm sure it's going to be amazing, and thank you for the comment.
@@ashlyncarlini2356 In the mean time you might find the second video I did on the elements of deign helpful. While the main focus of it is trying to show designers how to fill out a stage, I have also used it to help illustrate to directing students how to create blocking. A lot of the concepts, point, line, patters, and so forth are applicable to both forms of stage craft, so that might help give you some ideas. ua-cam.com/video/ZfcwVTSYXEs/v-deo.html
ily guys so much this is beautiful
wow
is realism the same as naturalism? and is Ibsen more of realist or naturalist?
As I understand it, Naturalism is more of an offshoot of Realism. Realism, while focusing on telling stories that are closer to life and characters that behave more like real people, is still a dramatic form, meaning the language and presentation is still very theatrical. Realism attempts to create a version of reality on stage, where as Naturalism tries to actaully recreate reality. They way it was explained to me is like this: If a play takes place in a barn, A Realistic production will attempt to faithfully represent a barn on stage. Whereas a Naturalistic play says you actually have to have a barn on stage, complete with animals, piles of dung, and lite with lamps instead of stage lights.
@@brandonlawrence7947 thank you, yes that explains a lot
sorry for saying something besides the topic but do give us a peep into your library...i am so distracted by your background :D
