I'm kind of sick of this trend of capsaicin being the scary chemical. It literally only works on mammalian biology. It is a very very site-specific compound. If you're talking about organisms that have ammonia or hydrogen fluoride as their primary metabolic solvent capsaicin would have no possible way of affecting them because their nerve endings would never have the right receptor site.
