August 21, 2024 Checking Hives and adding a Super
Looking at hives to see if we need to add honey supers. There seemed to be an increase in activity with the hives. And lots of bees bringing in pollen. No dearth here.

You are doing beekeeper stuff😁that is what you are doing.😉😂Blessed Days...
Bees can handle to heat, they nnk how to cool off a hive. Its the cold that kills them. A castle is easier to guard with less openings.
Just my opinion and everyone works bees different but you sure take a chance of rolling the queen by taking the frame right out of the middle without making room to bring the frame out. I was always trained from the beginning to start with the outside frame because the queen is less likely to be there and then leave that frame out so you have room with each of the other frames to take it out with less chance of rolling bees. Again just my thoughts. Thanks for sharing!
Gentle bees!!
Hello just found your channel,
Bob isn't having a good day let her be the beekeeper
I don’t think you have a clue as to what you’re doing. Please stop making videos that’s not what people need to see
really not the good way to do 🤥
How NOT to install a nuc 101. PLEASE find a local beekeeper to be your mentor.
Amen Phil! This is nerve wracking.
Omg! I cant believe what.i just.saw u dumped a.nuc. like a.package!!!!!😢 ya.might wana.seek some.info before ya do that again
I'm so perplexed why you tried to dump the first nuc into the hive instead of gently opening the lid, giving them a bit of smoke and then gently placing the frames into the hive. Did you forget it was a nuc and think you were installing a package instead? If you haven't yet, check if there's a bee club in the Price/Helper area that has a mentor who would be willing to help with your inspections. It looks like you're investing a lot of money into new equipment and bees without the experience to know how to handle them.
What he said! 👆🏼
You lost me at 3.10 min.
same
My Dad had 20 hives when I was young. We never wore protection. We just used a smoker a lot and were very gentle with the bees. We never slammed things.
You’ve got “NO IDEA” am surprised you’ve got trouser on the right way , the money involved and you treat the bees in that way ,you deserve to lose the lot ,to learn the right lessons
2 hives is all you sent to almonds?
Yes it was our first year. We started with 2 hives
I never thought of using a fuel can for syrup, that is smart. What are the pellets? Thanks for sharing your time with us, Blessed Days...
Pellets? We feeding with pollen patties as well as sugar syrup. The patties are in the green plastic amo cans. We cut slits in the sides so the bees can access them.
@@Kelpcrawler the smoker pellets?
There is a couple future you tubers, the big buck should start rolling in.
You are the man Gordo. Look at Tommy in the back ground. A+ in wood working.
That looks like fall honey which crystallizes fast. All good to me. The smell of golden rod gets milder the longer it sits.
Thank you. We will watch to see if the flavor changes.
My favorite part of beekeeping. I have to take over my wife's kitchen. I need a honey house.
Is that creamed honey or is it still crystalized yet
Still Creamed.
You know what would be good ? If you said what you were doing and why you are doing it
Thank you. We are absolute beginners. Next year we will be able to plan better. This was primarily a video log our first bee season. We can reflect back procedure, timing and decisions. If you have a specific question about something in the video, please let me know.
@@Kelpcrawler I'm also a beginner so I'm looking to learn something Not watch someone else learning ... But, no problem, have fun
good luck
