Going back to 2018 and digging in again I'm starting to see the combat is better in 2018 mechanically even though there are less skills and abilities to use, what is there has more impact on the course of the battle because of their effects on the enemy. In Ragnorak I'm starting to see the individual moves have much less hit stun and what hit stun is there the enemy recovers from relatively quick. So in general kratos in 2018 feels more powerful because the enemies can get hit stun and knocked around by more of his attacks. Also Runics do a shit ton more damage in 2018, starting to see this.

what about 0:29? Enemies in this game have almost no hit stun and I was greedy trying to kill before she attacked, clip would've looked worse regardless even if I dodged.

Give me No Mercy, stacked a ton of perks for extra damage vs status affected opponents, exploited the vaporized damage boosted, used sigil arrow melee damage increase, boosted runic and melee damage while permafrost and immolation gauge max etc.

Gotta use exploit status effects and amulet perk stacking plus poison, you get ridiculous op. Some of the endgame bosses where a breeze by the time I got to them with my build on that game.

2018 was far better than ragnrok in terms of performance and combat…. Idk what made them think making the game this much of a “challenge” was ok that’s the point of different difficulties so that casual players or players that just want to have fun are not punished…..

​@@darthxeno3434 I disagree with this because the most useful runics in gow2018 where the ones with short animations directors realized this about gow2018 can added new runics with shorter animations that deal high damage when maxed because you'd get laid on your ass using long runic in the first game. As for the combat in the first game my approach that beat literally everything in 2018 was. (Axe) Abuse executioner cleave for damage and invincibility frames on grapplable enemies, use his backwards dodge axe throw attack to stay away from any overly aggressive enemies with high flinch resistance. The backwards attack with axe did a ton of damage. ( this nullified an aspect of GMGOW difficulty) (Blades) Abuse dodge realm shifts for high damage delay stance combos on everything that would potentially give any issues in fights. Once delay combo was unlocked there was almost no reason to use axe and it's aoe delay combo that locked you in place during the entire revolving animation other than just style, the axe became secondary unless enemies had element resistance. IN Gow Rag I'm much more encouraged to switch weapons around and not just rely on blades delay combo like in 2018 because of the different weapon synergies. The main use of the axe in gowRag is more for applying frost element and ranged attacks. The high damage revolving axe delay combo which is now cancelable, needs a longer delay to activate and it can feel awkward in combat. (Edit I think they patched the delay window activation to be shorter like before in gow2018 feels better now.)

Meteoric slam is in the game, probably inside a legendary chest or questline you missed. I have it.

I think your problem is that you have no patience and expect too much. Give the game some time and you'll see how complex it is compared to GoW2018.

@@ALPHA-SOLIDUS i messed up the name. The second runic attack that you use with the blades right here on this vid. They didnt include it in ragnarok. Yeah man i expect too much from a 90 euro game. I expect it to be a game and not a fucking cancer interactive movie.

Combat mechanics changed mappings for some techniques and some moves that were runics became normal skills. Overall I'd say the combat is more intricate and nuanced, I love that I have to think a little bit differently. Over I'd say ragnorok is better and allows you to be even more creative with your approach.

@@ALPHA-SOLIDUS yeah when i went back it felt clunky and unpolished for some reason hell even sindris voice felt weird, it felt like he was using an xbox 360 mic, still love the game tho.

Ragnorok has better looking max level weapons.

Ragnarok is better but wish there were a way to keep the original look. Not really a fan of the upgraded looks

Meteoric Slam runic would've shown better damage, this isn't a min maxed tediously calculated vid. It's just what I happen to use for a battery of runics at that time because of their quick succession and start up speed. Looks like a person with something to prove mad the vid got views LMAO.

@@Tmo_201 Regardless of all that I went back to the save file and saw that I could take 70% of his health with runics alone. Ice Beam + Glavie for axe, Meteroic Slam and Nemen Crush for Blades. The Rock alone takes 25% and The Infinity Gaulet with all stones for projectiles takes around 10% health from what I can eyeball while going back to the file.
