    If the defendant gives a guilty plea on the 1st day of trial, how much a reduction in sentence would he receive and where can I find that information?

    • @speedmooting
      @speedmooting 2 дні тому

      Information relating to the reducing in sentence for a guilty plea can be found in the Sentencing Council's Reduction in Sentence for a Guilty Plea Definitive Guideline. If you search for this online, you will find this document.

    Thank you very much for all the precious content guys. Congratulations John. I have been working toward this goal for quite some time as well and hope I can qualify in a couple of years. #askspeedsquad I have a question regarding applications for Bar Scholarship and/or pupillage: Is it worth mentioning having a 2:2 GDL, although more recently having been awarded a 1st class LLB? To put into context, I did the GDL in 2016/2017 as an international student and was awarded a 2:2. After completing the GDL, I found that I was unable to fund the BPTC straight away. I therefore went for an online taught LLB as I knew my GDL would go stale before being able to raise funds for the bar course. I am now considering going for the bar in 2025 and currently applying for bar scholarship.

    Thank you very much for the reply to my question on disable and vulnerable clients. You definitely mentioned things I did not think about (to check if the client has special needs to attend court and make appropriate applications if required). On another note, I also want to add to the email you received, the opportunity you are giving us through the Speed Mooting club itself is incredible. Being based abroad I would not have a fair chance to practice advocacy without the club. 👍👍👍 I'll definitely drop to one of the events you organise when I visit the UK.

    #askspeedsquad I had a question at an interview which I screwed up very badly 😅 I was sooo unprepared. Since, I believe I have prepared an appropriate answer (better late then never) but I'd like to see if the way you suggest an answer correlates to my prep. Q: how would you deal with a disabled client? (As a barrister) Dodge Charger 🚘 thank you for the podcast 👍
