KTM Part exchange on Friday 13th? What can go wrong...
Переглядів 2 тис.2 місяці тому
www.youtube.com/@simon1290r?sub_confirmation=1 Friday 13th is part exchange day. But obviously my bike wouldn't start. Battery was dead. My own fault for not charging it. I ended up getting jump leads, which didn't work. A new battery which didn't work. A new charger, charged the old battery, which worked! Refund on the new battery. Keeping the charger.... Finally part exchanged a bit later in ...

Man rambles on KTM 1290 Super Adventure S

www.youtube.com/@simon1290r?sub_confirmation=1 So now I am entering this "world" of moto-vlogging. With my intention of swapping my 2018 Super Adventure S for a 2021 Super Adventure R. I would very much like to explore the TET and feel true adventure on my bike. Having had it for just over 6 years now I've only been on a handful of trips. transeurotrail.org/ Here I record my inner ramblings. As...
Parts just arrived, about to start the installation. How did you know the shape and position of the cut out on the side plastic?
@@RelentlessEnthios sorry I'm not sure if I showed it in the video. On the back of the plastic is a line to follow.
@ well now, that was a nice bit forward thinking design work. Thanks KTM design team, and thank you for a nice clear video.
@RelentlessEnthios really glad it helped you mate. All the best.
Thanks for the video- bought on your reccomendation and installed today- spot on!
That's really great. I don't know what I was expecting from making these videos but I'm glad I was able to help you!
A very helpful video. Thanks
@@AK-wb6md you're welcome
Is it essential to have a motorbike to use these heated grips? I just want to keep my hands warm while walking around in the winter, maybe installing into my retractable dog lead for example.
@@aph404 somehow it must be possible. You could tie the dog lead to some handle bars, then plug them into a power source, then drive your dog around from your pretend motorbike with heated grips.
@@simon1290r Could my dog be sufficient as a power source? He’s a golden retriever, so might be big enough.
@@aph404 I think so, it's basic science 🐕
I would suggest you to read and understand the installation instruction before performing the work!

How has it held up? Muuuch cheaper than the touratech one.
@@red.riot.2280 totally fine mate, it's solid.
The offroad courses run by the big manufacturers are well worth doing. I did the triumph level 1 a couple years back would love to go and do a higher level course.
@@Outdoorfam-uk yes I've seen KTM courses in Wales, I will likely do this next year :)
How much does it weigh?
I don't know, about 250kg, but it's all in the PIVOT
Good instructions thank you
Very useful and easy to follow, thank you
Glad it was helpful!
You probably wouldn't crash it that frequently in one go in real life right?

@@kostadinpantev oh
ITS ALL SO OBVIOUS NOW
just keep those revs up, acceleration is controlled by the clutch at low speed.
Thanks! Something to work on eh?
@simon1290r You never stop learning on a motorcycle, there's always room for improvement, I think that's why I'm so addicted. I've spent hours and hours in a car park practising low-speed maneuvers, I feel like it keeps my skills consistent.
@@Gobbbbb love it. I spent hours in a car park when I first got my SA S. Now with my SA R, I'm trying to do same in a field 🏍️
Ah - the greatest love of all !!!!
Nice work Sir!
Thank you for the update
Very professonal presentations Simon . And very real !!! Your Friday the 13th one made me laugh too!! Hopefully a good used SAS is in my future - your vids will prove very useful! Cheers, Phil Nova Scotia , Canada.
Thanks for the kind words, still very new to it all so things will get better with each video! Get the SAS, you won't regret it. What a machine. All the best.
Why did you go from an SAS to SAR?
Well I originally was going to get a 2024 SAS in June, but after much pondering I decided I wanted the R as I wanted to get more into riding off road. Either model would have out matched my skills but it's just the one I wanted. I could have gone with something a bit lighter, but I do have my misses on the back from time to time too.
Hey Simon, nice video. One issue, looks like you didn’t correctly install the wiring inside the throttle assembly. Just for safety sale you might want to check out a couple other videos on here and dive back in to that throttle housing on yours! Cheers
@@bcroft315 thanks for the heads up. I did think this during the install that it didn't look 100%. I've got some throttle play spacers to fit so I'll go back in there soon and rectify it. Cheers mate.
@@simon1290r for sure! I found that Solid Performance YT here in the states has a video with an up close visual on how that should click into place.
@@bcroft315 Fixed it. Found the bit to clip in to. Will post a very short clip of the correct way to seat it!. Thanks again.
good idea to remove the front mask. I did it without removing that, but with a double prize Touratech bracket. But it works fine too
@@tomx7294 nice one!
Another fantastic edit mate, great video to watch on a short break ❤
I was under the impression the heated grips need to be activated at a dealer once installed? Great video, I may try the install myself!
Maybe they do, I'm not 100%. I did buy the tech pack with everything unlocked, so maybe the option was included in the software pack.
lol that Friday the 13th! I’m glad it worked
Did you sage your new bike 😂
Love the outtakes 😂
Thank you for the clear instructions 😊
Glad it was helpful!
Buy a KTM. Bragging rights and anxiety come free. I never know if mine will start.
Haha yes, after 6 years I never had anxiety until the day I swapped it! God it was an awful feeling!
@@simon1290r Congrats on your new bike. Though, given the amount of electronics is bigger, I would expect more anxiety. 🤣
@@pajownik thank you! I will expect no anxiety, not at least for 6 years. My 2018 SA S was very reliable up until that day. It was my own faulty really for not taking care of the battery as it's parked outside.
Interesting. My dealer said they were hard to install. I wasn’t expecting that connector cable to be so accessible. I’ll have to take a look. Thanks!
Honestly it was pretty straightforward, not difficult at all. I still need to get some cable ties to secure the wire properly, so don't forget small cable ties if you buy them. I got mine brand new off eBay for £110 rather than £180 from KTM.
@@simon1290r I wonder if the ACC 2 cable is also close down there. Hate you have to rip the bike apart to power a GPS.
@@Romenet310 The guy at the dealership said to me to get to the acc2 you have to lift up a couple of panels. I'm not sure where it is myself but I might do a video just taking the panels off to see where it is.
@@simon1290r I’ll try to find the video on how someone else did it.
Can you send a link? I just paid a ridiculous price for one from Touratech.

@@GrahamWoolston of all the days!
Why the music ?.
It served a purpose in what I wanted to create in this particular video. In this case, saying farewell to my old bike. All the best to you.
Put a piece of wood or rubber under the side stand so it doesn’t go flat the battery
@@Maccimus can you explain further please?
@@simon1290r what I mean is, don’t let the side stand or center stand touch the ground, because it will ground, so take a piece of rubber or wood and put it flat on the floor and that should help!
@@Maccimus I had no idea this was a thing. I'll do this from now on. Thanks
