How do you glide with the bird?

Yes this is a bump of an older video, but I'm hoping that the new modding ability for the PC version will come up with a better or more nuanced version of arachnophobia replacement. For me the built in one doesn't go far enough by a long shot and I really want to finish the game because the rest is amazing so far. The sounds, the webs, and the placement of the floating bodies with skates are all too similar so my mind still sees a version of spiders. Worse when there are a lot of them. I get a flight reaction, or worse, freeze, the latter making it difficult for me to shut down the game. I managed through the footage shown by having the built in mode on, all my lights on full, in the afternoon, with all game sound turned off. I play other questsy and such, but noped my way out of any more quest with a chance of the spiders so I'm running out of stuff to do and will have to face more of the uncomfortable stuff. I'm guessing the webs and nets are the big obstacle to replacing with another creature entirely. A giant ant is the closest non-magical thing I could come up with and for some the pincer mandibles would still be a problem. Maybe a grounded giant angry bee? That would allow for wax pods to wrap characters instead of the webs. The decor though could have webs replaced with stringy mosses or lichens, such as the witches hair seen in trees, or vines. In some games, such as Minecraft, I'm tolerant of the normal spiders, but other varieties, addons or mods there give versions I cannot handle, even when I mute unnecessary sounds. I have difficulty with the spiders in World of Warcraft for example. I don't handle well the bendy legs, the pincers, and the number of eyes. It's like the eyes can see into me in ways that only 2 can't. One would think crabs would be a problem, but oddly enough underwater makes a difference, fewer eyes, and crabs are much less often travelling with their "knees" above their bodies, a common feature of spiders. For comparison, my IRL reactions to spiders have a lot to do with distance, size and whether or not it can reach me, but I've also been bitten by "safe" little spiders and somehow had a minor allergic itching reaction so I'm very careful.

The building one is just absurd. The devs really like to make half of the tasks tidious. 😢

It *is* possible to do this without the Breathing Mask thing, as I've done it myself. however... 1) It's best to resurface after each grab from each single compartment, as I've found it's just enough time to not surface 'just in the niche of time'. 2) Keep an eye on the Snapmaws. I think there's 3 of them, maybe 4.

honestly i couldn't possibly fight spiders if they looked like this. i need them to look their usual 8-legged selves. but with the arachnophobia mode they actually look adorable. but then i am also a weirdo who actually likes spiders and i don't really need the arachnophobia mode

When you're scared of spiders, arachnophobia mode is a MASSIVE improvement. Still not super comfortable, but a great improvement nonetheless. Could replace them with the wolves or a magical creature perhaps.

I am so thankful for this mode. I am arachnophobic and literally panicking when the smaller spiders came from the ceiling. Let alone the big one. Terrific.

This is Horizon logics. They make the Focus show the exit, but not the entrance. This is the third quest I would've had to skip if there was no internet. It's one of the rare instances of poor game design. Not to mentioned that the exit doesnt open.

This is so stupid. If you are scared of spiders, then don't play any games including spiders. Or, even better, play them and overcome your fear. I am scared of spiders (and bees). Played resident evil anyway. And i am still alive You won't get anywhere in life if everything is made to suit you and your stupid fears.

Nice, thanks. Finding the 2nd inside the budling is near impossible on PC. Everything is dark af around the building. Had to turn ON the "talassofobi relief" to see what is what.🙃

I love that the devs added this option! I am not arachnophobe, but I can imagine this game being a nightmare for arachnophobes. Also especially since kids will be playing this too and the amount of spiders might be a bit too much for them. They really made sure anyone could enjoy the game.
