The primary focus in the section of chapter 11 that we deal with today is Paul’s deep love he has for the Corinthians. Because he loves them so much he has concerns for them which he expresses in this section.

Paul asks the Corinthians to “open their eyes” and see how he really is in light of the false teachers criticisms! Then Paul explains the limits of his boasting and explains how he does that. Of course boasting must have it’s cautions and he ends this section with such limits.

As we enter the last chapters of 2 Corinthians, Paul speaks directly to those who were critical of him and his ministry. He does not speak out of hate, but rather with the same meekness and gentleness that Christ did. He also states that he will not fight the spiritual war that he is in through fleshly means but through the divinely powerful weapons from God.

Paul continues to encourage the Corinthians to fallow through with the special offering they said they would send to the saints in Judea (Jerusalem). But, his thoughts turn to the greatest gift that has ever been given. He calls it the inexpressible gift.

Proverbs tells us that a good name is worth more than silver or gold. Because Paul was responsible for handling the large special gift that the Corinthian’s were taking up for the church in Judea (Jerusalem), he felt it necessary to take steps to protect his and others integrity. Thus, he shared with them how he would do it.

It has been said that a job (or anything) is not done until it is done! Such was the case with the special offering that the Corinthians had promised for the suffering churches in Judea. So, Paul writes to encourage them to finish what they promised!

The apostle Paul did not intend to cause the Corinthians to be sorrowful over the stern letter he wrote to them, but it did. Paul regretted that it caused sorrow, but he did not regret the benefits that the sorrow produced. The value of Godly sorrow, not worldly sorrow, is Paul's theme in this passage.

The apostle Paul asks the Corinthian’s to renew their love for him. The criticism of the false apostles were turning the affection of the Corinthians away from Paul. So, Paul concerned about this writes to them to consider their love for him and renew it.

God desires a people set apart for Him! The Corinthian church must not have been such a people which Paul recognized. So, he called them to be separate from the false teachers and false apostles. Listen in on what Paul wrote to them.

When God saves us He does it with a purpose. Certainly He delivers us from condemnation, and the power of sin, but He also saves us so we can be co-workers with Him. We are His hands, His feet, His mouth to go and proclaim the message of reconciliation to a lost world. That is Paul’s plea to the Corinthians (and us) in our passage today.

When a person is justified by faith a radical change takes place spiritually. They become a new creation. They are no longer the same as what they were before they are saved. Before salvation they were a slave to sin, after salvation they are a slave to righteousness. In our text before us today, Paul tells about the what, the how, and the why of this change.

Paul had an ambition that was focused! In this message, Pastor Ron takes us into 2 Corinthians 5:9-15 to examine Paul ambition and how it motivated him in his ministry. His ambition should be our’s also.

The apostle Paul was undergoing severe persecution from the false apostles, and rejection by the Corinthians. He calls it “momentary light affliction” (2 Cor. 4:17). But he wanted the Corinthians to know that “he did not lose heart,” and he was “of good courage”. He tells them why he was not downcast or discouraged; a lesson all of us need to hear.
