Tibetan White Crane Kung Fu. Gorilla Footwork defending the center of the Fighting Circle. This discussion came up regarding the use of the 3 star footwork with Iron Chain Fist signature 3 move configuration. I thought it would be good to revisit the 3 and 4 star gorilla footwork, used to defend the center of the Fighting Circle. Here is a vignette of that footwork I clipped from a previous vid...

Was there an issue with sound on the video? I cant hear anything when i play it on my tablet
Not that I am aware of Spectre. Nobody else has said anything. Sorry you experienced that.
Cool!
Excellent!
❤❤❤ Lively conversation!
❤...and without booze...😄
Thanks for sharing this ❤❤❤!
Most welcome. ❤
Always wondered what deer boxing looked like. Saw an article years ago on it in Inside Kung Fu, I think. Thanks for demonstrating.
I think it was a Ken Cohen article, no ?
@@Spectre2434 yep, was Ken.
You are welcome, Heruka.
I was wondering why it's not deer hooves. I do Master Chin's Lama style.
Good question. I was taught 'paws'. 'Hooves' works for me also. Thanks for asking.
The double punch 👊 can be seen as the 🦌 antlers, I guess.
Hi Moe. I agree with your assumption. This punch also shows up at the end of section 3 of Chit Yap Bo. 👍🏻
@garethsmith8672 thank you for the reply, I recently started training in hwa taos 5 animals frolics which is for the most part a holistic fitness thing.
@@moepanetta9028 Very good. i used to practice those during my 'Hwa Shan days' of learning. I have always suspected the deer boxing was in part inspired by them. 👍🏻
Why won’t you answer me regarding your lineage? My sifu is Tse Tong Cheuk , whose Sifu’s were Au Wing Ning and Ng Yim Ming.
Check out my website on substack. It is posted on all of my videos. That will answer your questions.
Ps the book u are looking at is showing a Karate and judo guy just starting to learn the internal arts
You couldn't get arts more far apart Fujien White crane is very close to HI and Ba kua
These styles all stem from Shaolin forms. In the case of wing Chun they have their own version of tui shou which you find so many taichiquan styles. Also, wing Chun forms are an extension of the penultimate exercise of the baduanjin Qigong.
You also need to keep in mind that these styles like baguazhang, taichiquan, xin yi. All of them are internal, they dumb down the forms to integrate that to different levels of training and to introduce the correct mechanics.
Thank you for expressing your opinion. You unpack a lot in these comments. Sounds like you have some experience. I invite you to email me so that we can discuss these topics categorically.
I very much enjoy all your videos … when I watch people doing bagua forms or working on their single palm changes as they walk the circle … All I can see is our gum gong 45’s two step pivot pivot… I remember many many years ago when I told Terry that I’d like to learn Bagua one day … He put me on the 5 star patern and said here is your bagua lol …. Much love and respect … Appreciate everything you post 🙏
Thank you, Mario. Merry Christmas. 🙏🏻
The form you did is very nice, but it's not in smith book on pa kua.....
You are correct, Moe. It is not in the newer editons from the 2000s. I have one of the original editions shown in the video. Same with the Hsing I hardcover. There are a lot of changes in that one, but they did add the 12 animal forms.
I have the soft cover ed. Of that book, and yeah, I do train from it sometimes, do you have robert,s book on hsing I?
Yes I do. I have all four of Smith's hardcover editions.
It’s a pleasure to see such a balanced form. The upper and lower body coordination is strong while having efficient kicking with good posture and no excess shoulder movement. Well done sir. 👍
Thanks for saying that. This form obstenibly contains all 22 White Crane kicks. All kicks, even off the ground are done with level pelvis, in other words, the pelvis never rises, even with both feet off the ground. Good observation. Thank you.👍🏻
A classic
That's fascinating about SunLuTang.
Yes. That is from Sun Lu-tang's book: Xing Yi Chuan Xue- The Study of Form-Mind Boxing. You can buy it on Amazon.

Thank you for sharing Gareth that is almost exactly like the triangle pattern i learned except the beginning step was added later. it begins on the triangle and mostly stays on the triangle. The pattern takes you around in all three points but deals with each point with multiple shifts and target distances. It sort of takes you around in a circle while staying on the triangle. I think you might know what I'm referring to
Hi Mario. Thanks for that information. I briefly show the footwork without fists in the beginning of the 'flying gorilla' video. I call it 'three star, six directions'. Any of the fists can be used with any of the footwork. The only difference in the sup ji pattern I demonstrated is that pek choi is the linking move. Otherwise the same.
❤❤❤!

tibet had it's own martial arts?

Thanks, Leszek.
I trained at the school in Fayetteville
Hi Jon. Welcome to the channel. Did you train at my white crane school?
Very interesting. I noticed the drunken crane stance in the Cotton Needle Set as performed by Sifu Ron Dong - that form looks very Tai Chi-ish.
It is frequently, mistakenly called "white crane tai chi", but it is not a form of tai chi. It is a walking form of trul khor, from which it originated.

@@garethsmith8672 yes he was and also got a lot of clarification from Ron
Excellent video!
I’ve said this before, but the integration of steps w angles in this system lends incredible power to these movements, bridging the gap between blocking and striking. A hapless opponent stepping into what appears to be an opening would be zonked with a sleep inducing blow.
Yes. If you ever make it to my training hall, we can do a live podcast and demonstrate (slowly) how these moves work. 👍🏻
