I'm up north, we had like no winter. The summer was one continuous heatwave. Usually our first snow is in October and it's supposed to be 90 tomorrow. We also never have an actual "fall" but we did last year, which was bizarre. Snapdragons aren't perennial in my zone but with how bizarre our winters are getting I think I'm going to try winterizing it and seeing if it pops up in spring.

Noticing it here, too, in East Tennessee. I don't grow a ton of food, though, and instead grow lots of native flowers. I'm tempted to plant a lot more trees so I'll get more shade. Also, maybe look into native plant agriculture, although no plants are completely immune to climate change, maybe the native food producing plants will be more resilient...? We will see.

@@Tonetrasgarden Thank you! That's so sweet of you to ask. I'm very lucky. I live in Knoxville, which is about an hour away from some devastating flooding. I'm in Red Oak, TX and yes I'm concerned as well. I've lost several plants to heat scorching and it's awful. I've got shade cloth, but it doesn't stop the UV rays from getting through. Let me tell you, I've been BURNED by UV rays! It's awful. I was working out in my garden with warmup pants on and my right knee started burning and itching. I didn't think much of it until it got worse. I went into the house and looked at my knee, and it was red. Just imagine what's happening to our vegetation. I'm at a loss at what to do to protect them. My apologies for this being so long.

what I've noticed is that winters are never as cold as they used to, and summers aren't as hot as they used to either. it does affect crops, but it's hard to say how badly, last year wine and olive oil crops were really bad but this year seems promising. nothing's good for producers, when crops are bad, prices are higher but total value's lower, when crops are good, prices are too low and it's too much work to be worth it. eh. I think we will (collectively) need to be extra careful with wild fires and preserve forests, to avoid soil erosion and desertification.

Hey! UA-cam algorithm led me your way and I really like the homey feel of the video :) I’m just curious if you have tried local compost before or if it’s accessible to your location? I’m also starting my fall garden in Tennessee. Trying to get some frost tolerant plants growing now! 🙌

Thank you for checking me out, so happy you enjoy the vibe ☺️🌸🌿 I’m actually trying to find a compost supplier but I have a small garden and a lot of supplies only deliver be the truck load for commercial use I guess. So still on the hunt but when I find one I will share👍🏾👩🏾‍🌾🌸

@@Tonetrasgarden I have a local nursery here that sells it by the cubic yard, I think around $80 for 27 bags worth of yours. I’m not planning on using that much so I’ll just calculate how much I need for my containers and see if they let me get the bulk price. I noticed that it’s going to be my largest garden cost so I wanna reduce it if possible :)

Absolute chaos? No way! What a beautiful garden you have. Love your cat too. :) Zone 6B here, its great that you can still grow so late in the season. We're rapidly approaching our frost date...

Thank you! ☺️ Ally cat is the sweetest 🐈 I wish we could get some fall weather around here, it’s a bit concerning. Not used to it being this hot this late into the season 😭
