I watch and like many of the same ones you do. I find I'm usually searching for info on a particular game and will watch whoever is reviewing that game.

I've played this a ton as a kid. I've been looking online for used copies and they are astronomical in comparison to what they were.

I’m a big fan of Jon Gets Games too. He does a great job, and I love that he shows close-ups during gameplay. I’ve bought several games on account of seeing his play throughs.

It's interesting that as we grew closer to number one, the differences in our tastes began to show more and more. I know Calvin very much dislikes both Cartegena and Bohnanza, both of which are in my top 10, and I wasn't liking many games that were in his top 20. Luis and I basically have completely different tastes. I now have a better understanding as to why. He likes chaos and luck and I don't. He gave Yukon Airways a rating of 5 after we played it, which just blew my mind because I thought it was great. But not much luck or chaos in Yukon Airways. 🙂 I guess we will crossover more on games that each of us think is just okay.

ARK NOVA: If it was 2 hours or less, I would like it, but at 5 hours with 3 players, no thanks. There aren't many games that can hold my attention after 2 hours. WINGSPAN: Had a horrible teach on my first and only game. ("You'll learn as you go.") Therefore, it was not a fun experience. The bird feeder is stupid. However, I wouldn't mind playing again, now that I know the rules. The bird theme is fine with me. Theme matters very little to me, I play for the mechanics. CAVERNA: Own it and like it. Uwe Rosenberg is great! Bohnanza, Codenames, Patchwork, Mama Mia!, Fields of Arle, Bean Trader, plus many games I know I would like, but have yet to play. One day I will get to all of them! Many of these games I would like to try, but I doubt any of them would make my top 100, much less my top 10! 😄 Thunder Road Vendetta, Legends of Andor, Scythe, Everdell, Everdell Farshore, and Dune Imperium.

Hi Lewis, I am glad to hear that I am not the only one who loses a lot when playing Wingspan solo. Have you played the stand alone two player version? It's my favorite version.

Dune Imperium- why is it so incredible? It just is. Definitely in my top 10 or maybe top 5 too.

Thanks for selecting my name! Of this list, Atlantis Rising is a lot of fun. I was able to find a second-hand copy. Dune Imperium and Wingspan are also on my top favorites to play.

Man..I have only played Everdell once. Kind of hated it because everyone else at the party knew how to play I got destroyed. And I did not understand the hype. That said, I really want to play Farshore. Since it is less hyped I may not have as huge of expectations.

Dead of Winter...was so popular once..I agree, still a fantastic game. Seems like it has become a little underrated.

A lot of games I haven't played. Glad you mentioned Murano though. Such a great game! Perhaps we can play it at Three Suns sometime now that I know you like it. I wouldn't say I love Quarto. I gave it a 7.5. Definitely a game I enjoy though.

Quarto is such a good game. To answer your question, you can't remove an opponent's pieces from the board because the pieces don't belong to any particular player. Each piece has 4 characteristics (light/dark, tall/short, rectangular/circular, solid/hollow). Winner is first person to create 4 in a row of any one element, but you don't choose your piece. Your opponents chooses which piece you are going to place on the board.

About Uno...I miss playing for points. We used to either lose the points left in our hands or gain the ones left in everyone else's hands. To me that adds a bit of strategy because you need to get rid your your high point cards (like Wild Draw Four). It is something you can play with non-gamers.

Yeah, my Rook only lists variants for different player counts. Uno Attack is the one you're thinking of with the machine that spits out cards. I think it makes the game way too long. I really like The Crew and Fluxx on your lists, unless Luis has original Fluxx as a separate entry. Haven't played Marvel Fluxx. I agree, it's not a game you should take seriously. You must be prepared that your plans can go up in flames at any moment.

Thanks for your interesting lists! I learned about some new ones from your lists, so far. Calvin, you mentioned you played some pinball back in the day. Have you heard about Friedemann Friese’s recent release that gives a pinball vibe: “ Freaky Frogs From Outaspace”? It’s naturally a solo game. It seems to be well received by some, but there is a minority opinion of those who aren’t fans. It is recommended by a fan that persons watch JonGetsGames/Happy Hexagon play through to gain a good initial grasp of the game.

Played this last night with friends (5 players) and it takes a lot longer than 90 minutes. Over 2 hours for us. One thing i think would speed it up is not to stop on the corners like the instructions says but to pause there to get married and divorced but if you rolled a 10 and only had to move 2 steps to get there complete the steps and continue on to complete the move on the dice. We also figured out half way you can use 3 dice.

Diamonds is a favorite and I like to use it for newer players since you can always do something no matter what card you play. Others we like are The Crew, Fluxx. Grew up playing Sheepshead and have good family memories as that was our childhood introduction to trick-taking games.

A trick-taking game that we really enjoy is Trumpet.

I need to try some of those older classic card games. Some of my group’s favorite card games are Trio, Paperback, Twinkle Starship and Point Salad.

Nice list. “Love Letter” is quite the design with so few cards. Though I have yet to win, I like it and enjoy whenever I do win a round. I’ll take whatever small victories I can. I’ve enjoyed “Scout”, “Coloretto” and “Ohanami” to name a few.

Bought Rook years ago, still haven't played it with anyone yet. Among my favorites are Fluxx (yes still), The Crew, and Take 5 (6 Nmmt).

So many games that could be classified as card games: Terraforming Mars, Race for the Galaxy, Codenames, Citadels, San Juan, etc.. I prefer to think of card games as games that use only cards with numbers. However, this would still include games like Lost Cities and Battle Line. Though I like both of those games, I just don’t think of them as “card” games, even though they definitely are. My favorite card game of all time is Spades. Love Spades! I love setting my opponents! I love giving low bidders overtricks so that when they reach 10, they go back 100 points. I love going Nil with the King of Spades and Making It! That is a rush! (And rarely attempted.) Next - Hearts! Choosing which cards to pass is essential to winning. And shooting the moon is a blast! I also like Stichen, Tichu, Bacon, Rook, Linko, Parade, Red 7, and many others. One of my favorite genres of games!
