    Me and my kids went to the navy ship in Mississippi came back to biloxi and stayed two night (. Think the super 8 right beside a nice Rv park). We followed the gulf to new Orleans. Stayed a night or two there and visited several places in new Orleans and went back home to central Louisiana. That was one beautiful stretch of highway on the gulf. And was beautiful filling the gulf down to New Orleans. Thank you for taking me back to that vacation we had Been battling cancer the last three years and haven’t done any vacation. Can’t really afford it due to not able to work as much as I used to. I’m starting to get better so hopefully we can do vacation sometime in 2025

Although much colder than I'd like, I'm enjoying your state right now on the northeast shore of Pontchartrain. Then a few days over by Lake Charles before stepping over into Texas. Lousiana is a beautiful state, to be sure. Thanks for watching.

    I am curious - do these cams don't come in a sealed package?! How do you know you are getting a brand new unit versus an opened box?

    • @joyenroute
      @joyenroute 4 дні тому

      It's a good question. I don't think it's true of the smaller accessories in this kit, I don't really remember, but for the camera itself, I'm sure it had a tape dot applied to the box in such a way that it needed to be cut to get into the box. But you're right; I'm always a little skeptical of packaging that's just completely open. I can't really think of anything I've bought where I was just certain someone else had been in the package and it was maybe a returned item that they resold to me. Usually, you can tell by internal protective wrapping whether something's been tampered with before. Thanks for asking.

    • @MarC-ot5gl
      @MarC-ot5gl 4 дні тому

      @@joyenroute Thanks for your response!! The reason I asked was that I had received an 119 V3 through the big Ama*** also and when it arrived, there was no plastic shrink wrap around the box, not even a little round dot sealing the outer box to the inner box. Inside, it looked like the accessories hadn't been opened but its cost effective to just replace the cheap cable or manual booklet and resell a used item as a new one. I know I sound paranoid but when I buy a new item, I want a brand new item. Anyway, that is one thing I noticed with all Viofo unboxing videos, none seem sealed so maybe that is how they make it. I returned mine and I bought a Thinkware unit and that one has a seal and I can tell its brand new. I didn't open yet and still trying to do my homework. I know Viofo makes a great product but I heard Thinkware, while not as good image quality, the hardware is solid. Many cheap brands out there that make great image too but heard they barely last a year or have no customer support. So far, Viofo customer's support has blown me away in a very good way. I may roll the dice and try ordering a new one. Thanks again for your input :)

    This year I would like to go camping with my camping van, which I bought exactly a year ago and I only went out to spend a full day camping. There are no people around me who are interested in going camping and the country is so big and I don't know where to go... and a little afraid of camping alone... I don't know how to make a fire... ... BUT on my stove I cook very delicious meals 😂

    • @joyenroute
      @joyenroute 10 днів тому

      You are right; I'm over 55. A little too far over 55 if you ask me, lol. I hope you get out and experience traveling and camping more this year. I'm assuming you're in the USA given that you said the country is so big. And yes, there really is so much to see. If you're completely self-sufficient and want to get away from it all, BLM land where you can camp for free is one way to go. Personally, I appreciate (and probably can't do without for long) having power and water available. Showers, too. Especially if it's hot and muggy where I am. So, state parks and Army Corps of Engineers Campgrounds are where I love to spend my time. It's not free, though, but the state parks and ACOE campgrounds are typically far less expensive than private campgrounds. Check into the America the Beautiful park passes to see if you qualify for any of the reduced cost or free passes. As a USAF vet I have an America the Beautiful pass that gets me 50% off nightly rates at ACOE campgrounds. That's a spectacular deal. There isn't much in the way of BLM or free camping on the eastern side of the US. You have to go west to find the free, primative camping opportunities. "Wallydocking" (staying at a Walmart overnight) is a good fallback or if you are just moving quickly toward a longer stay and don't want to pay for anything inbetween, but you want to keep daily driving time reasonable. I rarely drive more than 3 - 4 hours on any given day. I don't know if they have a free version, but at $19.99+tax, an RVParky subscription (google it) is priceless and you can plan out entire trips if you like. I just kind of wing it, but I typically have one or two campgrounds reserved after my current reservation. There are lots of single travelers out here. I enjoy being with people, but I don't mind being alone either. Hope some of that helped give you some inspiration or motivation. :)

      @noemiseptier7101 9 днів тому

      @@joyenroute Thank you so much! You gave me a lot of information that I didn't know. I live in Oklahoma City, I am not very interested in seeing the south west, I went to the Colorado Canyon and other parts of Arizona, as a regular tourist. I prefer to go camping where they have facilities to shower, I couldn't live without showering 😂 especially since I use my bike a lot.

    • @joyenroute
      @joyenroute 9 днів тому

      @@noemiseptier7101 Yes, showers are super important to me, too, so state parks and ACOE campgrounds are great for that. Other options include showers at the major chain truck stops (Loves, Flying-J, etc.) which can be expensive, but I keep hearing that truckers at the checkouts where the ladies are buying a shower will often donate them a shower. Truckers earn showers through their patronage and may have earned more than they can ever use, so I guess chivalry lives on in interesting ways on the road, lol. A Planet Fitness Black Card membership allows you to use any PF gym anywhere and use their showers. Or just go in and use the shower like I do. Has to be the Black Card membership, though, otherwise you can only use the gym where you signed up. PF also have perks for Black memberships like tanning beds and massage chairs, if you're into that stuff. Life on the road isn't like life in a house/apartment, but there are work arounds and alternatives for just about everything, so it's all good.

I just looked at recreation[dot]gov and note that the "Anti" loop is closed. That's at least half of the entire campground. I guess that's the reason for the closure. I did have a nice stay there, and one thing I really appreciated is that the water there was clean and great tasting. I've been in too many parks lately where the water smells and/or tastes a little swampy.

      Thanks, Rose Anne. Looking forward to being on the coast, but I have a sense it's going to be cold anyway. Bummer. I softened the litterbug story a little, as it seems that each individual wrapper and used napkin ended up on the ground below the driver and passenger door windows. What I saw was the final act when the bag it all came in hit the ground and they drove away. It felt a little icky picking up used napkins with food all over them, but luckily Walmart has a place to wash your hands. I'm so not used to such social neglect. But whatever. KI was my first base as a brand new SP (93-95). I still remember being posted on an empty flight line after the last B-52 departed.

    • @joyenroute
      @joyenroute Місяць тому

      Ha! I get that. My first duty station after Keesler was to a Norad Aircraft Control & Warning Radar site that was scheduled for closure before I even got there. We didn't even have a gate guard, or any SPs at all assigned at that point, and anything on the site was way to big to run off with, so the gates were always just wide open, lol.

    This base sure could house a lot of homeless veterans.

    • @joyenroute
      @joyenroute Місяць тому

      It sure could have. Sadly, that apparently was never a plan, and I heard from someone after posting this video that said he was part of a demo crew contracted to go up there and demolish a lot of the empty buildings like the barracs I checked out. They may be gone by now.

    I was there just before Halloween last year & that campground went all out! My souvenir was a giant sloth magnet.😂

      Yeah, who knew there were any sloths in North America, let alone giant ones, lol. I wasn't in a park for Halloween this year, or even close to one ☹️ but I know how fun parks are at Halloween! So much fun. I'll be putting out my Charistmas lights this week. 😊

    Tom, a great summary of the last couple of years! I may have missed your comments on previous videos, but how many miles have you put on "Joy"? More miles the first year compared to the second? Thanks Brother, Happy Veterans Day!

    • @joyenroute
      @joyenroute Місяць тому

      Thanks, David! Not sure about difference in mileage between first and second years. Pretty close to the same, I''d guess. I'm passing 24k miles, so I'm assuming my Ford warranty is up at the 3 year mark which is likely to be the 36k point.

      Hi Chris. Sorry, I don't see anything in the upper left at 3:30. Maybe a leaf on a tree that looks like the silhouette of a bird, but nothing actually flying.
