matthew.dance-masterclass.com
Thrilled to be able to share this exciting new edition of Dance Masterclass with the world. Mayara and I got together with the awesome team at Dance Masterclass to bring to you an in depth look into the world of Pas de Deux and Partnering in classical ballet. We spent many hours compiling an in depth look into the fundamental techniques of Pas de Deux, introducing you to the fundamentals of partnering, right through to some of the most exciting & impressive lifts. Along the way we'll take a look at some communication skills, the tricks of trade and what it takes to work together as one unit.
Throughout our careers we've worked with an incredible array of artists and coaches learning various skills from the very best in the business. Now we are so gratefulf for the partnership that we've crafted and built, investing so much work together in the studio and onstage. This series is a testament to all that we've learnt and we are proud to be able to share it via this amazing platform.
We Hope You Enjoy!

(Re)Current A new creation by Matthew Ball for himself and fellow principal of The Royal Ballet Mayara Magri. Set to Sibelius’ op.77 ‘Laetare Anima Mea’ (My Soul Rejoices). The work explores how we are carried through life by its irreversible flow, this current pulls us through cycles of days, years or in some beliefs different incarnations. When we seem to transcend those recurrent patterns es...

(Re)Current performers Mayara Magri and Matthew Ball choreographed and edited by Matthew Ball "All of the waves and waters hastened, suffering, towards goals, many goals, to the waterfall, to the sea, to the current, to the ocean and all goals were reached and each one was succeeded by another. The water turned into vapour and rose, became rain and came down again, became spring, brook and rive...

Mass Reimagined

Made in collaboration with my partner Mayara Magri this short film is made in response to how recent circumstances have challenged us and our belief systems, but also allowed us time for reflection. Many Thanks to Phoria for allowing us to use their sublime track which inspired the entire concept - 'Mass (Reimagined)' . Finally to my father Christopher Ball who added another dimension to the wo...
Plyometric Training

A short film demonstrating a plyometric training regime undertaken during Covid 19 by myself and my partner Mayara Magri. Maximising explosive power and maintaining musculoskeletal resilience to dynamic and high impact movement patterns is a key consideration in dance. Ballet can include a high volume of ground contacts using none optimal biomechanics, (I.e. turnout/ rotational force/ or a focu...

❤❤❤
Such wonderful choreography! Great to see you two dancing together!!
❤
Артисты в черных костюмах в абсолютной темноте. Прекрасно! Иногда мелькают руки и ноги! Замечательно! Всегда так делайте! (НЕТ!!!)
Thank you very much.
А вот и знаменитый танцор Матье Бал
what a great thing to share these things. The admiration I have for ballet dancers is off the scale. Their fitness level & pain threshold is so admirable !
that was lovely. Ballet dancers are the fittest people on earth.
belleza total. maravillosos!!
❤
HE is so innately graceful.
The Music, Choreography, and Lighting, just resonates with my soul.
beautiful. i'm working on waveforms in composing for percussion instruments so an extra frisson
You two are a wonderful couple. I absolutely love your balcony scene from Romeo & Juliet that was filmed in the courtyard of a modern building complex. Except for the point shoes it was extremely current and so satisfying to watch. Filming must have been challenging but great editing made it seemless.❤
Hes awesome!!!
nice choreography, great edition work
Beautiful! Keep choreographing please
I would have liked the camera to have capture more of the complete dance. She is en pointe and he/she is giving us upper body shots in the beginning. What they Did capture was Stunning!
So cool!
Biggest fan 🫶🏼
Gorgeous couple
You are beautiful, a very interesting video ❤😍
Love these two!
lindos! so excited! 🤩💛
This is wonderful. Inspired and unique choreography, superb artists. Great lighting. Fantastic work x
Staggeringly beautiful
Watching men's classes at SAB, the Balanchine school - I wonder, how do those students become uninhibited enough to dance with the spark of Matthew Ball? He's Royal Ballet and so is she.
So beautiful, totally committed, emotionally gave their souls and their bodies. What a dream team. Where was this played, on a concrete floor?
Absolutely calming and delicious!
What a wonderful and beautiful performance. They tell the story of young love
This is just beautiful. Wow ♥️
So beautiful!
So beautiful and artistic!
Maravilha!!!!!!!
Incredible!
so beautiful
Choreography is really amazing 😍
wow, amazing!!!
Absolutely gorgeous and true romance (literally!), exquisitely danced and emoted. The setting was such a challenge in so many ways--I didn't envy how quickly Mayara had to dash to run down all those stairs to join Matthew--but with the lights, the greenery, and the deepening twilight it was all so beautiful. Yes, even with the "Grind" signage, lol. Huge applause to the direction and editing, which was seamless even though this must have required multiple takes in order to get so many angles without revealing any cameras. Gosh I would *love* to see a "Making of..." video! Or even just a description of how it was all shot. I kept getting a real "West Side Story" vibe, too--I mean, of course it's the same story, but I mean visually, between the urban setting and the couple's appearance: Mayara looks so much like a vulnerable, lyrical Maria, and Matthew a most handsome, enthusiastic Tony! I could almost hear "Tonight" as well as the Prokoviev. Anyway. Bravo to both of you. I would be thrilled to see you in a RB production--and what a delight it would be to see an entire film of R&J filmed like this!
