Making a neoprene sleeve
Cyrus Leung, Occupational Therapist and Practitioner in Hand Therapy creates a neoprene sleeve. This type of brace provides compression for swelling and rigidity to help with regaining finger extension.
Neoprene finger sleeves are custom made to fit your finger and these are ideal for people who need to make a strong fist at work as these sleeves allow full function. It also provides a gentle compression which helps with pain and swelling of the finger.
Melbourne Hand Rehab provides expert advice, manufacture and fitting of hand braces and splints. Our splinting expertise is one of the major factors that sets us apart.
Hand therapists use splints and braces to support an injured area after an accident, illness or operation. Your hand therapists will talk to you about which splint or brace is most appropriate to your individual situation.
At Melbourne Hand Rehab, we make customised splints and braces on the spot, and usually during your first appointment. Many of our splints and braces are made from thermoplastic materials. Thermoplastic materials can be remoulded to account for a reduction in swelling and to add extra comfort. Some splints and braces can also be made from leather.

I have a bend in my two pinkys and it happend 10 years ago and I'm only 11😢
The video has no sound.
Madam I want your help
👯🕺👯
I had hand surgery, two fingers. During recovery, occupational therapists taught me various finger exercises; however, on my own but too late I discovered one they missed. It consists in closing the hand like a fist and then with the other hand forcing the four fingers down toward the palm of the hand. Not with extreme force but keeping like it for a good ten-minute every time: Done from the beginning, this would have given my hand more movement, as now it does not completely close as a fist compared to the other hand and probably will remain like it for the rest of my life.
I think I'm starting to believe that Americans are dumb xD
My right little finger is bent at the joint, it's been like that since a teenager. Can't be straightened at all 😢

This gives false hope...my cast was on way higher up and too tight even though i complained over and over. Now i can't move my fingers or wrist AT ALL. Do not let them put your cast on tight. And get it off ASAP. I wish I'd stood up for myself since once again the medical profession let me down
Just wanted to follow-up - I may be in a cast for a few weeks after surgery that covers my arm from above the elbow and then down to the wrist. How long were you in yours and how are you doing now?
Just thought I would let you know that the red bar at the bottom may make people think they've already seen this video
Thank you very informative!
