Great video but are you sure this is 88 ? One of the floats near the end displays ‘ the Minstrel Chorley newest pub ‘ . I thought the minstrel opened in the early 90’s

We used to have carnivals in Newcastle Staffordshire. With floats, cubs scouts, brownies marching and dance troupes, bands ect. Bring back memories, well done 💯

I haven't seen walking day in chorley for over thirty odd years!so it never was abolished!2003?that's over twenty years ago!well at least they're making an effort!walking day should be brought back to every town.i love those drums and i absolutely adore the scottish bagpipes!

they still have walking day in chorley!nobody told me!i thought that great britain had abolished walking day across the country?we didn't seem to much for her majesty's seventieth year on the throne did we?a chance to start uniting a divided,broken country!

hitchens? my friend worked there,GOD rest his soul he was the sweetest,most honest guy you could ever hope to meet.this was the last carnival that i remember going to.a lady said that it was terrible this year,there was no atmosphere.by then,everything had started to change over to the world which we've got now.1988 was the worst year of my life,it was absolutely soul destroying!oh well!at least we've both still got our looks eh arnold,!

i'd no idea that they filmed that.i watched that in town,wearing a new pair of trainers,looking for girls in the crowd.my face looked horrendous as always!well,it's always the case isn't it?that footage just looks mind boggling now!

Health and safety would have a meltdown today with that woman in the dress on the bonnet of that car and the children standing up on the back of those moving lorries. And I didn't see any police or jobsworths in viz jackets, today a scene like this (if it could go ever go ahead) would be crawling with the buggers telling people to move back about 100 yds from the curb. Today an event like this would require half of Lancashire police, a dozen ambulances on standby, health and safety teams and all the other contrived crap making it less of a fun day for the community and more of a farce.
