I am a harmonica player, nerd, and enthusiast. I play in an all original music project called The Wildermen. You can check out our new EP using the link below and I’d really appreciate it if you would. You can expect mostly harmonica and harmonica gear related content from this channel. Feedback is always welcome (unless it’s from an amp) and I appreciate you checking me out!

Hey guys,
This is a quick video comparing two of my favorite microphones for harmonica. I recently picked up the J.A. JT-30 and I couldn't be happier with it. It makes a great big sister to the Bulletini.

Harmonica Rig Rundown - August 2020
Переглядів 4,2 тис.4 роки тому
Hey guys! Here is a complete rundown and demo of my current pedalboard. As anyone who suffers/benefits from GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome) knows, this is just a snapshot in time. No matter how much I love my current rig, I know it will eventually change. Even as I sit here typing this description I'm thinking of cool new pedals to try out... I really need a Colour Box... Anyway, I really hope ...
First Sit In with Jason Ricci & The Bad Kind (Video and Reflections)
Переглядів 1,2 тис.4 роки тому
Hey guys, I was looking through an old hard drive and found the video of the first time I ever sat in with Jason Ricci & The Bad Kind. I was so excited to watch this video that I decided to make a video to share some of the segments as well as reflect on and tell the story of that night. I still consider that opportunity to be one of the best musical experiences of my life and I really hope you...
JHS Panther Cub V2 - Harmonica Demo
Переглядів 2,1 тис.4 роки тому
Hey guys, This is a demo of the JHS Panther Cub V2 analog delay pedal. It was not, in any way, designed with harmonica in mind. I, however, think it works quite well and it has found a permanent home on my pedal board. I do quite a few things in this video to demo the pedal so I'll add timestamps in this description in case you would like to skip around. 0:00 Intro 0:36 Pedal Overview 5:18 Demo...
B Golden Melody (w/ Andrew Zajac Comb) in F# Major
Переглядів 4844 роки тому
Hey guys, Just a quick video playing along to an F# Major jam track that I found (link down below) on my key of B Golden Melody. I recently put a custom comb on that harp from Andrew Zajac and it is super comfortable and made the harp play even better. Please let me know what you think and please like, share, subscribe, all that cool UA-cam stuff. Later! Also, please check out my band, The Wild...
Sounds great, thanks. I prefer the bulletini and have not had a problem with mine for over 25 years. I play through two Electromuse A46 Headliner amps (late 40s - early 50s) that I was incredibly lucky to find.
Thanks for the vid. I like your style of playing: more single note, jazz oriented lines.
I'm thinking about getting the Bulletini after playing the Shure 58 for many years. Main reason: I have slightly smaller hands, so am interested in the Bulletini for that reason. What I DON"T want is a lot of distortion, or any distortion. In other words, I don't want to be another Little Walter imitator like so many other harp players. Which is why I'm a little leary of the Bulletini, based on most of the demonstrations I've heard. Any suggestions from anybody would be appreciated. I should mention that I'm a trumpet player and blues harp is my second instrument, so I want it to sound more like a "horn" than an accoustic folk or blues instrument. Thanks for an informative vid; you're an awsome player.
Thanx Daniel
I have a Hohner Blues Blaster and Greg said he can take the Bulletini element and put it in my Mic but he said it has the wrong knob so he has to make a custom knob for it and he is keeping the XLR part. After all, I like how it is locked in there because sometimes I step on my cord. I think it is the best Mic I have ever heard. I'm surprised Sugar Blue does not put the Heuman element into his Hohner Blues Blaster because he uses one of the Sure elements. I think the Bulletini element will sound way better.
It depends on the genre of music being played. The Heumann element is good, but nothing beats a vintage Shure element for blues. There’s a reason all of the greats play Shure CR/CM or crystal elements.
@norfolknwhey4787, I thought the Bulletini Mic sounded pretty good. I want to sound different than everyone else than using the same mics everyone else uses so I thought I would make it custom.
You play beautifully, friend, That first time you got up and played, was great. Goin' back to watch the rest.
Thank you!
Wow! You absolutey crushed it! I was shocked when you started playing....damn you got some serious harp chops.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate that. Actually on break at a gig right now.
Wow! Had no idea you were this great at harmonica!
Thanks man! I appreciate the kind words. Randy and I have been putting in the work with the music thing for over 10 years now. Gotta put the “gig” in Game & Gig! Lol
Very cool, best sit in ever he said!!
The same way Pat Ramsey would have done to Jason at one time.
No doubt man. It was certainly an honor.
Nice Job Daniel🤘🏼🤜moon cat is such a beautiful soul!!!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Really good stuff!
I see the BBE sonic pedals on a lot of boards, and everyone keeps them on all the time, but no one explains why they use it. Any help explaining why to use sonic booster vs the sonic maximizer?
Hey! I’ll try to explain as best I can. I use the Sonic Stomp. Basically, low and high frequencies travel at different speeds and therefore arrive at the listener’s ear at different times. We can, in some situations, perceive this as a “muddiness” in the tone. The BBE pedal works to fix this problem by delaying the higher frequencies (they are faster) a bit so that they arrive at the roughly the same time as the lower frequencies (slower). I could be COMPLETELY wrong but that’s the way it’s been explained to me. I think it is EXTREMELY subtle but I do think it makes my tone slightly clearer so I do leave it always on. BBE also makes the Sonic Maximizer which is big rack mounted contraption. It probably does a whole lot more but it really wouldn’t be practical at all for my application. The Sonic Stomp is basically a pedal version of one application of the Sonic Maximizer. Again, that’s what I’ve been told over the years. I hope this helps!
@@GG_Daniel that helps a lot thank you. I play mainly thru a PA, so I don’t think it’s something I need at this time. Much appreciated .
This sounds great, and made my playing better today. Thanks!
Thank you man!
Nice video and cool playing. I enjoyed the Jason Ricci tune too :) I preferred the tone of the bulletini, but to be honest they both sounded excellent - you are a very good player. Cheers!
Cool video! You can tell by his playing that he is digging the Bulletini more. :-)
Dang, how have I never heard of this guy?? He's a great musician and player!
Thanks brother! I really appreciate that! Yeah if you found me, you’ve definitely been digging deep into harmonica UA-cam. Haha. I need to get back to making videos.
Cool board great playing . Been playing for 52 years just getting back into it with my old band after a long break . You are great at this.
Great Pedal demo! thanks!
Great video! Thanks! How long have you been playing?
I love this, you sound so good ❤️
Thank you!
Nice one man. 👍.
Very cool, there aren't many information about effects and how every blues harp player use it. Many thx for share your gear.
that was so amazing Daniel - great job!!
What pedal are you using for organ effect? Thx!
Always a pleasure having you!
Thanks J! When you coming back to GA?
Bro! Where do I play?
I’m using Bulletini mic and it sound very great… I have also an ultimate SM57, a HB 52 Hohner… but it’s not the same sound. Bulletini is much more smooth. I’d like to purchase an astatic Jt 30 cause it’s a gorgeous mic… but I think I do not cause Bulletini sound great and seems to have a better bite… thanks for the demo. Sorry for my bad English
There are a bunch of amp & cab simulators out there now. Running one of these means you don't have to mic an amp you can plug directly into a mixer to PA system. Have you tried any of them too see how well they work with a harmonica? I was wondering if you could get some of the big amp richness without the big amp issues associated with harmonica?
The video sound is pretty good, beyond my imagination
Please can you make a video using , boss synthesizer pedal with harmonica.
Nice Jazz-Blues!
It looks like that only Harp Ocive matters to have this fat, solid harmonica sound.
What I like just by looking at the controls, the volume knob, the EQ knob, the Ratio controls, and, the holy grail of analog control, Tap Tempo. When ya play harp, controlling the tone of the delay can make or break your sound.
It's hard to not love the JT30 for its classic looks but the Bulletini has more bite!
Smooth sound you've got going there brother!
Don’t play harmonica but this is the best demo of the cub on the UA-cam! Thanks
Thanks for the kind words man!
That sounds beautiful man
Good for you, that’s awesome!
I'd love to hear what your opinion on an Audix Fireball
Man I’ve never actually played a Fireball. I know it’s popular for players looking for a really clean mic. I’m pretty sure that mic has A LOT of headroom so it probably won’t break up much if at all. But it probably has a nice sound if you want a clean representation of your tone.
@@GG_Daniel I use it when I'm using my b9 organ pedal or if I use any sort of wah or envelope filter. I think you'd really like the sound of your organ effect on that mic. If ya ever get a chance to play one or pick up a used one I recommend it. I found a used one one ebay for 50 bucks
@@79rapture Will do man! Thanks!
So much clarity with both mics. Can't wait to hear the 30 live and in person!
Thanks Boss! She’s a keeper for sure! Some things they just got right back in the day.
Awesome review Daniel. I am using a Keeley Caverns pedal but might look into adding the JHS Cub as well.
You sound great dude.
Mooncat is truly an inspiration for many of us. Having met him myself, and spending 3 Days with him at the Collective a few Years ago the way he teaches is top notch and many times Very comical will make you laugh and make learning fun. He keeps it interesting. He is one of a kind. Thanks for sharing. You are a great player. This just made my Day.
wow nice
Nice rundown
Thanks Jason!
Excellent Daniel
I'm in "what might I want" mode and the one that you're using I'm tempted by (that I'm not already using) is the BBE Maximizer. Trying to keep my board small Bulletini>EP>Octave>Maxon Envelope>LW Delay>CC Delay>DI>PA. I haven't been using an amp for awhile but I have monsters aplenty. Of yours, and thanks for the excellent run down, I don't see much you're using that would change my sound a whole lot. Organ is cool but I'm ok with the version I get with solid octaves. You do have a few that seem to duplicate purpose but successfully so that 2-8% better is worth it. Your only modeling effect for distortion like sound is the Octave. That does work nice with the HG but past 9 o'clock by PA I can hear the square wave I don't like so I don't use it much for that. It does serve great as a volume preamp and it has some of that feedback control magic Randy stuck in there. So I'm thinking Maximizer. I know it's a JR constant so that has me thinking too.
Nice
Good afternoon, Daniel Johnson. exceptionally surprising video. thank. :)
Love how he’s cheering you on back there.
It puts a huge smile on my face!
Beautiful people making beautiful music....
Thanks so much man!
