it depends on class, for mage on a 14 it should be around 1.8 - 2 .1mill without aug and depending on dungeon. for 15-16 and up, overall increases more, as fights are longer and you can use cds more often.

Mage has a talent called Mass Barrier. On a 3 min cd, you can mass barrier the entire party. They get the same absorb shield as the mage

I prefer Spellslinger, altho I play Frostfire. Frostfire is more consistant and less RNG than Spellslinger, but it s a lot more difficult to play it properly.

I agree, I hate using it as well. RNG item which only provides a minor overall increase

It definitely sims higher than Spellslinger now. Majority of the top mages have swapped to Frostfire. It's removing the high RNG that Spellslinger has, giving you a much scripted rotation and some more damage
