බුදුන් වහන්සේ බුද්ධත්වයට පැමි‍ණීමෙන් අනතුරුව ප්‍රථම වරට උන්වහන්සේ රජ කල විසූ මාළිගයට පැමිණි අවස්ථාවේ දී, යශෝධරාව විසින් සිය පුතු රාහුල කුමරුට විස්තර කර ඇති බුදුන් වහන්සේගේ භෞතික ලක්ෂණ, නරසීහ ගාථා (“පුරුෂයන් අතර සිංහයා”) හි සඳහන් වේ.
Narasiha Gatha ( The Stanza of Lion Man) - Verses of Princess Yashodara to her son, Prince Rahula about his father. These verses describe the great characteristics of the Buddha.
1.
චක්‍ර ලකුණු යුතු රන්වන් පාදේ
ලක්ෂනයෙන් පිරි දිගැති විළුඹේ
චාමර සත් බැබලෙන පා පතුලේ
මේ උත්තම මුණි පුත නුඹ පිය වෙයි..
His sacred red feet are marked with an excellent wheel;
His long heels are decked with characteristic marks;
His feet are adorned with a chowrie and paraso.
That indeed, is your father, Narasiha.
2.
ශාක්‍ය කුලේ සිවුමැළි ඒ කුමරා
පින් ඇති පුන් සිරුරින් පිරිවරිනා
ලෝ යහපත වෙත ආ නරවීරා
මේ උත්තම මුණි පුත නුඹ පිය වෙයි.
He is delicate and a noble Sakya Prince;
His body is full of characteristic marks;
He is a hero amongst men, intent on the welfare of the world.
That, indeed, is your father, Narasiha.
3.
පුන්සද මෙන් බැබලෙන පැහැ මුහුණයි
දෙව් මිනිසුන් හැමටම ප්‍රිය උපදයි
මත් ඇතෙකුගෙ ගමනට සරි ගමණයි
මේ උත්තම මුණි පුත නුඹ පිය වෙයි.
Like the full moon is His face;
He is dear to Gods and men;
His gait is graceful as that of an elephant of a noble breed.
That, indeed, is your father, Narasiha.
4.
අග්‍ර කුලය වූ කැත් කුල වංශේ
දෙව් මිනිසුන් වැදි පා යුග ඇත්තේ
ශීල සමාධියෙ පිහිටි සිතැත්තේ
මේ උත්තම මුණි පුත නුඹ පිය වෙයි.
He is of noble lineage, sprung from the warrior caste;
His feet have been honoured by Gods and men;
His mind is well established in morality and concentration.
That, indeed, is your father, Narasiha.
5.
උසින් දිගින් සුපිහිටි සොද නාසේ
ගෝ නෙත වැනි වූ සුනිල සුනෙත්තේ
දේදුනු මෙනි ප්‍රිය දෙබැමක් ඇත්තේ
මේ උත්තම මුණි පුත නුඹ පිය වෙයි.
Long and prominent is His well-formed nose,
His eyelashes are like those of a heifer; His eyes are sapphire blue;
His eyebrows are like a rainbow
That, indeed, is your father, Narasiha.
6.
මනාව වටකොට සැදි ගෙල ඇත්තේ
සිංහ හනුද මුව රජ වැනි සිරුරේ
රන්පාටින් බැබලෙන ගත සිරියේ
මේ උත්තම මුණි පුත නුඹ පිය වෙයි.
Round and smooth is His well-formed neck;
His jaw is like that of a lion; His body is like that of a king of beast;
His beautiful skin is of bright golden colour.
That, indeed is your father, Narasiha.
7.
සුසිනිල කේශය අඤ්ජන වර්ණය
රන්පටයක් බඳු නිමල ලලාටය
ඕසධි තරුවක් සේ පිරිසිදු විය
මේ උත්තම මුණි පුත නුඹ පිය වෙයි.
Soft and deep is His sweet voice;
His tongue is as red as vermilion;
His white teeth are twenty in each row.
That, indeed, is your father, Narasiha.
8.
සුසිනිදු ගැඹුරැති මියුරු තෙපුල් දෙන
හිංගුල කන්ද සෙ දිව යහපත් වේ
විස්ස බැගින් යුත් සමසතලිස් දත්
මේ උත්තම මුණි පුත නුඹ පිය වෙයි.
Like the colour of collyrium is His sapphire hair;
Like a polished gold plate is His forehead;
As white as the morning star is His beautiful tuft of hair (between the eyebrows).
That, indeed, is your father, Narasiha.
9.
අහස් කුසේ සරණා පුන්සඳ සේ
තරු ගණනින් පිරිවරණ පරිද්දෙන්
ශ්‍රාවක සඟ මැද වඩින සමින්දා
මේ උත්තම මුණි පුත නුඹ පිය වෙයි.
Just as the moon, surrounded by a multitude of stars,
Follows the sky path, even so goes the Lord of monks,
Accompanied by His disciples.
That, indeed, is your father, Narasiha.
තුන් ලෝකයේ හා සියලු සත්වයන්ගේ පියාණන් වන අප ගෞතම තතාගතයන් වහන්සේට මගේ නමස්කාරය වේවා!!! සාධූ! සාධූ! සාධූ!
මෙම ගාථාවන් අසා ඔබ සැමට පහන් සිතුවිලි පහල වේවා..!!!
ලොවම සුවපත් වේවා!!!
තෙරුවන් සරණයි..!!!
