Man, all these comments saying how ridiculous it is to spend that much on food for your pet. Please take a second and reconsider. Whether it's this food or another high-quality, healthy food, it is worth it. Yes, it's one thing if you honestly cannot afford it, but if you can and you are just too cheap to take as good of care as you can for your pet then you probably shouldn't have gotten one in the first place. Rant over. Thanks for making this video, I just bought my first bag of Sundays and hopefully he likes it.

My first order comes in on the 8/30/2023 I’m trying this , cause my cat is constantly scratching after vet visits medicine and food changes I’m going to try wet food only versus the dry kibbles I think it’s the dry food .so I’ll see hopefully this will help her 👍🏾

Would it have killed you to break one in half we could see just how tough they are? My 19lb 17yo dog my have issues digesting this form of food dry food. Obviously you know nothing about feeding older dogs. By the way how much does Sunnys pay you for running this ad?
Legumes are actually a problematic filler. Peas are a suspected ingredient in DCM. I’m glad Open Farm does not rely on peas for calories.
Recipes that over-rely on pea protein instead of meat-based protein are certainly not good and may be a part of DCM. Open Farm's fresh food always uses whole animal meat as the first ingredient, so legumes are just a safe and supplemental ingredient in certain recipes.

I just want to say that the ONLY problem with this food is the packaging. It can be rather messy. But I’ve found a way around that. Put a frozen pack in the fridge for about 2 hours. When you take it out, you’ll find that it is still partially frozen. At that point you can cut through the bag with a knife, remove the plastic, and portion it very easily. Guaranteed the customer service, care and concern is unparalleled and the food, we’ll just say that my 6lb very very picky chi mix is addicted to it. The only thing you can add if you want are probiotics. Other than that, it is a fully nutritional food for your fur baby! I highly recommend The Farmers Dog!

It's not expensive for the quality. We've just been conditioned to expect unrealistically low prices from the cheap kibble industry, but these aren't really healthy choices.
Acana sells 4lb bags for around $20 but Sundays is best of the best.
My 50lb dog came to 150 bucks but it's not really saying how much or how often..so is this 150 bucks a month?
Probably, but you should check your account for shipping frequency, since that's what would be billed per shipment.

Could you continue? Which ingredients aren't good, and why? I have the world's fussiest eater and. I'm desperate to find a GOOD dog food he WILL eat.
@@Loveoldies50 There's nothing wrong with the recipe, the ingredients are pretty much all whole food and none of them are toxic to dogs. If your dog has a grain allergy or something, then the millet and oats can be omitted, but there's nothing wrong with fruits, vegetables, meat, organ and bones. That's what your dog food should include. The only downside about this dog food would be the moisture level, which is really low because it's air dried. I would personally add bone broth if I were feeding this to my dog to increase moisture, but as long as your dog is drinking an adequate amount of water each day, there's nothing wrong with feeding it. For your dog, try finding something that's higher in protein, or try feeding a commercially available frozen raw or freeze dried raw dog food. It's the healthiest option for your dog, with the exception of homemade raw (if you go down the homemade route, you'd have to put a lot of time and effort into researching to make sure your recipes are complete and balanced, so commercially available raw is the next best thing). If a completely raw diet is out of your budget, you can buy freeze dried raw nuggets and sprinkle them over your regular dog food as a topper. Dogs love it.
This is an excellent ingredient list. Not sure what you take issue with, but Sundays is one of the cleaner brands we've found since it doesn't rely on any synthetics.
The only real bad ingredient I see is sunflower oil in the beef recipe.

Once you defrost just cut through the plastic on the cutting board to the portions that you want you don’t have to have a messy situation scooping out the portion cut it through the plastic on a cutting board and get the desired length of food

I went so far as to complete the application for the product, but when I got to the end, I didn't complete because it was too expensive. They charged my account anyway. Attempting to contact them and cancel the order is a bit of a pain also. I'll let you know how this turns out.

I'm not sure what your concern is but yes, the dry ice is in its own packaging and beneath a cardboard divider to keep the food cold. It doesn't come in contact with the food. You don't need to touch it at any point, you can simply remove the food on top and allow it to dissipate.

Peas are still up in the air so I'll pass. Instinct raw has 50% plus protein. My dog is 80lbs. I would be paying 55$ every 4 days. This food is way overpriced.
It's definitely expensive for larger breeds. It's hard to compare protein content between fresh and dry food because the moisture throws off the calculation. The difference isn't typically as drastic as it looks on the label. Either way, we hope you found a diet your dog loves!

To answer your question, while there are differences in what they offer (like treats), we really liked both, and both companies do a great job of sourcing and delivering high-quality ingredients for your dog, so you really can't go wrong with either choice. However, every dog (and recipe) is different, so if your pup didn't like TFD, Pet Plate is worth a shot. Could you tell me what didn't work about Farmer's? Most dogs will have a little bit of digestive discomfort for a couple of days when you change their diet, so you need to transition them slowly and give a new diet a couple of weeks to really see how it turns out. it could have been the recipe, also.

Hi Benjamin - I can't remember exactly, but I think it was within a week. Once the food is prepared and shipped, they make sure it arrives within a couple of days since the dry ice doesn't last forever. Ours was still frozen solid. Once you place your order you'll get a confirmation email that will indicate the shipping timeline.

@@jinshann Yes-it was very frozen! The boxes are really well insulated with a compostable liner, so it keeps it cold and it avoids packaging waste, which we love.
