Painting on smooth surfaces like glass can be tricky, but with my 4+ years of experience, I’ll share some simple tips, tricks, techniques, and hacks to make it easy and enjoyable.
✨ Tips for Painting on Glass:
1. Use Acrylic Paints: Acrylic paints work best on surfaces like glass, metal, or plastic. They dry quickly, are vibrant, and stick well. Avoid mediums like poster or gouache as they don’t work on smooth surfaces.
2. Add a Little Water: Acrylic paints are thick, so add 2-3 drops of water to make them smoother. Avoid adding too much water to keep the paint from becoming too runny.
3. Paint in Layers: Apply at least two layers for full coverage and durability. Wait for each layer to dry completely before adding the next.
4. Let the Paint Dry: Use a hairdryer for faster drying, but don’t overuse it (30 seconds max per layer) to prevent heating the glass. If drying naturally, wait 2-3 minutes per layer.
5. Seal with Varnish: Once your artwork is completely dry (wait at least 5 hours), apply varnish to secure it and make it long-lasting.
