Why is the look pan being replaced? Only thing I could think of is that someone stripped the oil pan drain-bolt threads.
Correct. The drain plug threads were stripped and the customer did not want to do any repairs to the threads.
ThNk you so much for this. Load leveler failed and dropped the tranny but I caught it by the gear selector shaft. Parking Paul was engaging in incorrect gears or was dislodged from it's home. Either way I needed to know if anything was broke in the pawl assembly bu5 didn't know what a good one looked like. God's work my friend. Thank you. .
My Zx600R are exactly the same caliper...But exponentialy more effort was taken to strip them appart!...
Is there an affordable scan tool to recalibrate the front bumper radar on a 19 Civic EX?
Not that I know of.
The pump has two lines one goes to the wipers, what does the other line go to?
This washer pump is designed to work for the front and rear. One hose is for the front windshield and the other for the rear windshield.
Like butter
I am in search to this day for new seat foam. Thank you for this! If you ever come across them, I would love to get a pair. :)
Where is horn placed ?
Could not find much on it, but going by an illustration in the OEM repair manual, it appears to be attached by the left upper radiator support bolt.
@@thingstoconsider5186 okay thanks 👍🏻👍🏻

Yes, that sounds like my rattle also (plastic jitter sound) on my 2017 RDX that's been driving me flipping batty since I bought the car - Thank you much for this video !
Great video
How many hours will the dealer charge me for this repair? Since I've never worked on a car before, I don't feel confident in my skills to attempt this procedure.
I don't work at the Acura dealer anymore, so I couldn't say for sure. If I had to guess, I would say around 1 hour labor times whatever their labor rate is, plus the cost of the parts, tax, etc. If the dealer is too high, you may want to call around to get a quote from upholstery repair shops.
What are your plans for the bike? Your videos have been a great help. I am currently rebuilding mine and hopping to have it up and running soon.
The plan was to restore it as close to original as possible. Had to put on hold due to moving, etc. As soon as I can, I plan to get back to it. Glad the videos have been helpful.
The parts bellow the ram air intake they look like small air box's what are they for? 10 mins into the vid
@@theshadow2256 They are called resonators. As far as I know, they help reduce air intake noise.
@@thingstoconsider5186 wonder if I plug the holes if it would be okay for now
@@theshadow2256 I don't have any experience with that, but did read some forums where the resonators were removed. You can browse for yourself to see what you think. One stated the intake airflow was louder. Another mentioned something to be aware of when riding while it is raining?
Hello, I am a rider riding a ZX9R in Korea. Does the hose near the radiator cap go directly to the overflow tank? I bought an aluminum overflow tank, but I want to change its location! Is it okay to connect the hose under the radiator cap directly to the overflow tank?
Hi, the hose directly below the radiator cap is routed to the lower nozzle on the OEM coolant reservoir. If you install an aftermarket reservoir, it should be the same. There should be a nozzle on the bottom that the hose would connect to. Also, the OEM coolant reservoir has a nozzle on top that an overflow hose is connected to. I didn't show that in the videos.
Would love a video on a carb rebuild currently doing mine and trying to restore the bike. Thanks for the videos.
We moved and everything was put on hold. Hopefully I will be able to continue soon. Carburetor disassembly was next in line. As far as a complete rebuild goes, that will be a while. Thanks for watching my videos.
Love it. I'm about to undertake this mission in 2 days on a 2010 Acura MDX Techn PKG! If I do well, I shall fix many afterward!
How did it go? Were you successful?
Spent too much on tools and it’s every 60k
Hi, great video! One of the best resources I can find. My headlight stopped working. I bought a new bulb and it worked for an hour and cut off again. Intermittently for 2 days and then never worked again. I have a cheap multimeter with the 2 wires, is that enough to know whats going on?
You can use a multimeter to check power and ground to the headlight.
How do you remove install the slip rings?
As far as I know, you can't. I ended up installing a reman alternator. I still have this alternator, still in pieces. I plan to reassemble/reinstall when I get the chance. When I do, I was planning on lightly sanding the slip rings with a fine emery cloth. The new brush set will adjust to the worn area on the one slip ring or at least that is the plan.
@@thingstoconsider5186 The slip rings can be removed from the rotor assembly I had a shop do it. Epoxy holds it down so I have to get epoxy out of there it goes through the fan and out the bottom and attaches to two points on the side of rotor both 180 degrees apart. The attachment points have to be twisted on the wire and resoldered and epoxy put over them. They drilled to holes in order to get my old one out. Apparently they do not change slip rings that's often the guy said he had never worked on part of Honda denso alternator that was apart that much. Compared to other videos this slip ring is NOT as easy to change as other models but it is possible if you willing to solder and epoxy the leads back.
@@jessicaoswell7361 Thanks for the info. I will most likely stick to the original plan. I'm thinking the new brush set should adjust to the uneven slip ring. This alternator had about 300,000 miles on it. I have no idea how many hours. When I do get the time to reassemble and install it, maybe I can do a video of whether or not it works? I'm interested to see if it will. Thanks again.
I watched the video well. Is the upper part of the overflow tank hose line just a hose that flows when coolant overflows?
Yes. If for some reason the reservoir does overflow, that is what the upper hose on the reservoir is for.
Hi. Do you know if the low beam bulb can be changed by removing the triangular plastic cover underneath the headlight? Or do I have to take the entire nose off to get access?
Sorry to say that I've never replaced the headlight bulb with the ZX-9R fully assembled. The OEM repair manual does not state to remove anything to gain access. It gives the impression that the bulb can be removed without removing any of the fairing components.
@@thingstoconsider5186 Thanks, I'll have a closer look on the weekend! Looking forward to some more 9R videos mate, they're always a treat, it's been kinda quiet lately😀

Any suggestions on how to insert the small "shift rod?" (4" narrow metal bar with a "roller clip" on the end that parallels the piece & swivels & inserts into the hole toward the back of the car)? - Not the vertical shaft! I hope this makes sense. Thanks.

That’s a nice tool that you used to compress the spring. Where can I find one?
It's a Honda/Acura special tool. Part #07AAE-P8EA000. I was able to borrow it from an Acura Dealership. It's actually designed for removal and install of the clutch/pressure plate on a 2004-2008 Acura TL. Possibly some others. I looked online and the price to purchase one is about $400.00. If you're not able to do that, you could fabricate one with a flat piece of steel, threaded rod, and nuts. If that's not possible, try looking up 41TE return spring compressor tool on-line (Amazon) etc. The purchase price for that may be a lot cheaper.
Welcome back! Hope to see more 9r video. Great source to do repairs and maintanance. Thanks❤
Thanks. We moved and it has been a process. As soon as possible, I plan to get back to the ZX9R.
@@thingstoconsider5186 awsome
The screwdriver drop was hilarious. Great to see you making videos again.
So does this mean hfl should be replaced?
For this vehicle, the parasitic draw was being caused by the HFL control unit. It was replaced with a new one and retested. After replacing the HFL control unit the draw on the battery stayed at or below the allowable 42 mili-amps. That being said there are several things that can cause an unwanted drain on the battery.
Thanks for the vid. Excellent work. Doing mine this weekend.
I thought I could change clutch plates and bushings with the valve body in place. Nope, must remove it to slide all the pistons and drums out the front.
Good video,good job. Numb1 Thanks!
Thanks for the comment.
Hey I've got a 95 integra gsr, just watched your video because I have what *looks* like a leak in the same area as you do in the video. After hours of tracking it down, I found a small hairline crack where the weatherstripping meets on the top of the roof/windshield. I wonder if it might be happening on other integras as well? Perhaps a weak spot? Anyways, hope this helps. Thanks for the video!
What year is this MDX? I have a 2011
I can't remember the exact year, but it is a 2nd generation MDX, which was model years 2007-2013, so it will apply to your model year of 2011.
I think if I tried this I would mess up along the way, not having any experience. Thanks for showing how to do it though😀
Hopefully you’ll see this, but where does the hose you removed above the TP sensor connect to? Bought an 03 4.7 Dakota and it’s just the stem showing.
As far as I can remember, it is routed to the brake booster (power brake assist) . I don't have the vehicle anymore, so I can't say for certain.
Great work!
Hey nice video thanks for this! My question is do you have to use air to push the piston out or can you use one of those specialised brake piston removal tools? I've already rebuild the front calipers using this tool on the same bike (Tokico 6 pot), is it pretty much the same?
I've never used one myself, but did think about trying it. The special tool I'm thinking of is adjustable and fits inside the piston. If you have the tool I don't see why you couldn't use it.
Great video, my 94 ls has wetness in the carpet under my drivers floormat (not on top of the floormat for some reason?) which i hope isn't from the recent windshield replacement I got
Great video , no time wasted or unnecessary bullshit! Thank you!
How much would it cost for changing the oil pan in a 2006 acura mdx?
I no longer work at an Acura Dealership, but if you were to have it replaced at an Acura Dealer, it would be labor rate times labor hours plus the cost of the Oil pan, Honda Bond, Engine oil, Taxes, and any recycling fees. All of those prices change over time. It would be best to call the facility that you would like to do the repairs and get a direct quote. I hope this is helpful.
This is a well done video. Thanks, you have been a great help!
Things I didn't need to know, but I get it now. Just going to buy a new one, thanks.
Just finished the TB kit replacement on my 2012 MDX, I do just fine on my own but can always learn new techniques and how to. Your video was key to getting this job done, I installed a Aisin TB kit. Not sure if the replacement seal on the water pump was a bit thinner than OEM but it leaked from LH lower side, made me take belt TB off again 😬. Luckily I had only partially reassembled it, took it apart for inspection and found new gasket slightly thinner. Set me back about 2 hours due to disassembly, inspection and reassembly. In all it took me about 6 hours of planning, watching and searching for best video, area cleaning, dissasembly, old and new parts inspection, belt tooth marking transfer onto new belt, installing new parts, trial and error reassembly, final clean up and inspection. Thank you.
Do you have a part 2 putting it back together
Sorry, I don't.
@@thingstoconsider5186 that’s the main thing that would help even more lol I’m doing mine and I need a video on how it all goes back together
I'm getting one tomorrow. Sick fighting mower tires.
Thank u so much
You're welcome.
Is the socket for removing the cam bolt a special geared socket that doubles the guns torque? How many ft/lb would you say your gun was set to? Thanks, awesome video. Planning on tackling this myself because of this video, 👏
When removing the Crank bolt, I was using a 1/2 to 3/4 adapter fitted to a 3/4 drive 19MM socket to add mass to help with removal. The Ingersol-rand Impact I was using (I'm guessing) is about 800-1000 ft lbs torque in reverse @ 90PSI. Hope this helps.
@@thingstoconsider5186 yes this helps immensely. Ill shop around for a impact with that amount of torque. I was going to ise the larger battery impact from milwaukee, but it maxes out at 450. Have you ever freed one with a long breaker bar? Im in a pipe trade so we break large pipe with linseed oil, just not sure of the ft/lb. Thanks 👍
@@M2uared The crank bolt can be removed with a good quality 1/2" drive breaker and a pipe attached over the breaker bar handle for leverage, but you will also need a crank pulley holder tool to wedge against the sub-frame after it is attached to the crank pulley to hold the crank while removing the bolt. The vehicle will need to be raised high enough off the ground so there is enough clearance for the length of the pipe. I would say a 3 to 4 foot pipe should work.
@@thingstoconsider5186 excellent. Shouldn’t be an issue then. Thank you for the advise! 🤟
So I got it done. Not to big an issue with the crank bolt. More of an issue getting the adapter to hold the pulley to stay and not bind. Greatly appreciate the reply’s and the video. Thank you 🙏
It fits on base trim of mdx ?
All engines are the same for the 2013 MDX. Hopes this answers your question.
Are you removing the window rail at 2:29?
Yes. The rear rail. It has one bolt holding it at the bottom and there is a groove or channel that it slides into at the top.
