Yes - all the birds featured here are from our winter tour which we run from the beginning of November through to the end of February

It's a paradise for bird watching & some of the other wildlife is good too!

Most of the European Herons feature here, Purple Heron, Squacco Heron, Black-crowned Night Heron. There’s also Little Bittern, another trans Saharan migrant which breeds here on the Ebro Delta

Definitely good to observe them feeding this close - interesting to see them toss the tiny fish up in the bill and straight down the hatch!

Thanks Simon - yes a little bit of luck is required to have them close in when you visit the observatory - normally way out the back if they are present at all!

Yes they are particularly stunning when viewed in favorable light. The iridescent tones of green, purple and maroon have a very subtle beauty

@@ebrodeltabirding thank you for replying so quickly :) it has been very rewarding this October. Black Redstarts, Nightjars, Hoopoes, Stonechats, Eagle Owls, Imperial Eagles, Kestrels, Griffon Vultures, Serins, Crossbills, Black Wheatears, Monteagu’s Harriers all within the space of two weeks
