Lets get out and ride ebikes!
Transmission - Hamsterleys OG trail gets some TLC
Its does get a lot of use, so its about time Transmission got a bit of a makesover.
Don't worry, it hasn't become a flow trail, you've still got lots of rocky goodness, but the berms have been built up so you can wizz around, getting ready for the drops and jumps.
I really enjoyed having a couple of runs down, even if it was so dark at the end I had to go back down the fireroad as I couldn't see to ride Accelerator and Nitrous - dont worry though, after I had a cuppa at the van, I strapped on the lights to do a full run down including poltys and K Line which will be coming soon.......
Shot on a GoPro Hero 7 Black. The bike is a Whyte E150S, bought from and service by Wetrocknride, Hartlepool.
Main Headlight is a MagicShine Monteer 6500, with a Moon Meteor Storm on the helmet.

Halloween Night Ride - Thorpe Thewles, Wynyard Country Park and Castle Eden Walkway
Переглядів 1739 годин тому
Bob 1 Werewolves 0 Back out for a quick night ride, basically just an excuse to escape the trick or treaters! This is a route that can be varied to include Hurworth Burn Reservoir, or up to Station Town, Wingate or Castle Eden if you fancy a mid ride pint/coffee/gastropub meal. The Vane Arms does have a nice beer garden and is well worth a visit during the summer for a pleasant afternoon or eve...

No waffle, just the descent from the Drovers Road back into Osmotherley. This is the first time I've tried a video like this, so, please like and comment if you would like to see more like this and consider subscribing to the channel, I've purposely left all those messages out of the video! The full video, including Sheepwash, Scarth Nick and around Cod Beck Reservoir is available to watch too....
Burnthouse Blast

From Sheepwash we have a splash before heading down the drovers road and descending down Burnthouse Bank into Osmotherley. Then its up and over Scarth Nick and a quick loop of Cod Beck Reservoir. Its only a short loop, there is a QR code @8.45 for the Komoot link, but, you'd have to be Mark Thatcher to get lost on this one! I've mentioned Miles MTB Speed Test video as I crashed on this corner o...

I always tell first timers to go straight up the fire road to Poltys as it only takes 10 -15 minutes, but the official route takes you up the horrible hill, along the valley side and then back up to the top from Blackling Hole. Ive been riding the red for over 6 years but never done much of this before, so today is the day! Overall I thoroughly enjoyed it, the run down to Blackling Hole is exce...
Osmotherley and Sutton Bank MTB Loop

Parking at Square Corner we go up and over Black Hambleton, through Boltby Woods down into Sutton Bank before heading back via High Paradise Farm and then down the Mad Mile! There is a QR code for the Komoot route at the end of the video, I would stick to the one in the file, but you can take the alternative line at 4.07 in the video for the route I had intended to take today. I was a bit fed u...
Dalby Blue night ride
Переглядів 39121 день тому
The first trail night ride of the year, its just been local bimbles so far! The first part of the ride isn't as illuminated as later as I was conserving battery power, I've only got one camera so have to do 2 full runs, plus repeats on certain sections to get the extra shots. However, even only on power level 2, with a head torch, there was no problem on the first easier sections. I love the pe...
Ayton Moor eMTB featuring Captain Cooks Monument, Black Nabb and Sleddale
Переглядів 678Місяць тому
A nice little ride around the Great Ayton area. Passing up by Fletchers Farm, we head up to do some of the great trails in the area, overlooking Roseberry Topping and Little Rosedale. There are some amazing views on a sunny day, but it can get very busy with walkers on the Cleveland Way or up to Captain Cooks, so if you want to go really fast its best to go very early, or pick a less than ideal...
A lovely, easy Rosedale loop.
Переглядів 1,2 тис.Місяць тому
On a beautiful sunny day there is no better place to be than the North York Moors. I've driven down the roads around here many times but this is the first time I've ridden around Rosedale. You can start at the car park on the Whitby road and have a break in Rosedale halfway round, but I prefer to start at the bottom of a loop so I finish with a descent. Most of the ride is on gravel or minor ro...
Helmsley Loop, featuring the Riccal Valley, Newgate Bank, Old Byland and Rievaulx

Back out into North Yorkshire for more cross country e mountain biking. This route is from pedalnorth.com and I'll definitely try more from the website once I've got a stronger phone case so I can display Komoot, it was a lot easier than dragging the phone out the pocket every time I went wrong! The Old Byland section through the nettles was a bit of a hassle, but once I committed to getting st...

Heres a blast around the 6 mile blue loop at Dalby. It has had some work done on the bermy sections recently, will I still love it?? This loop is going to be a test for kids or beginers, but its a great intoduction to mountain biking, and will always put a smile on your face! Filmed on GoPro Hero 7 Black. The bike is a 2019 Whyte E150S, bought from and serviced by Wetrocknride Hartlepool.

The skills loop is constantly evolving and improving. Its an ideal place to build your skills and confidence, or just warm up before a big ride. Filmed on GoPro Hero 7 Black. The bike is a 2019 Whyte E150S, bought from and serviced by Wetrocknride Hartlepool.
Dalby Short Red Loop

If you find the full red loop a bit too long heres my shorter version, cutting out the rather repetitive slog after Medusas Drop to Bombholes. My ride today came in at just over 16 miles, that included the warm up, repeating section 5and Roll With It, plus doing both the blue berms and red closing sections. Filmed on GoPro Hero 7 Black. The bike is a 2019 Whyte E150S, bought from and serviced b...

Autumn Trailblazing around Great Ayton
Looking forward to giving it a second go
I was up there yesterday it runs so good now nice video Bob. And are we get a video of the night rite Cheers Bob
Should start editing at tea time. Hopefully post over the weekend, the footage looks pretty good!
Sorry about the quality of the static shots, it was almost dark by then and I had to take the fireroad back, Accelerator and Nitrous would have been too dangerous. Don't worry though, after a cuppa at the van I strapped on the lights for a night ride.
I'm a new subscriber to your channel but I love your content. You must be fairly local to me judging by your rides. Have you ever ridden yearsley woods?
Not yet, I'm compiling a list of places to ride to make new videos!!
looked a fast flowy bit at 2:49 Bob. Thanks for the mention in the description by the way. made my day Bob..... also i like the sections where you had the camera on the floor and you can see the lights coming then you disappearing in the distance in a ball of light 😁
As you can see from the profile of the ride there isn't a lot of elevation to get any descents so you have to work hard to find the fun!! I just bought a cheapy tripod off Ebay to hold the phone for the 3rd person shots, I think it adds a lot to the video for very little cost (other than the extra time setting up and going back and forth!). I think sharing other smaller channels is a good way of engaging with the youtube logarithm, maybe we'll all get a bit more exposure!!
Love night riding had my first one last night I think were using the same light magicshine 6000 Great video Bob thanks
I love the feeling that you are doing something off the wall, most people are sat at home, blindly watching boring tv. You always feel you're going a lot faster than you actually are. Good lights make a lot of difference.
ive got the Magicshine too.... great lights. 😃
This route is available on my Strava, follow me for all my rides. I'd love it if you would like, comment and subscribe!
Thought I'd post a simple video of the Burnthouse Descent into Osmotherley, just the footage and no commentary. Let me know what you think, or, have a look at the full video if you haven't already!
Nice video Bob, i may try that next summer but I stuck to the Paradise Trail today to save from all the splodging. I enjoy your videos, they are tempting me to go a bit further a field than my local rides around Sutton Bank. Keep up the good work👍
There is so much to ride around here, there are some routes on pedalnorth.com that might be good for you!
If you would like the route there is a QR code at 8.45, but it's hard to get lost on this ride!
love this place i'll be there on wednesday with the grandson. Ive only ever don DC4 ONCE ON AN ANERLOG great video thanks bob
@thepainterdude1 I've only done the red stuff a couple of times this year since my wife got her eeb. She has been down Transmission once, so I'm hoping for big things next year. Well done for introducing the next generation of shredders!
@@bobthebimbler weathers good for the next couple of weeks get her out
There's a QR code for the route at the end of the video, and one at 25 seconds for the direct route straight up to Poltys.
That’s a nice ride Bob, did virtually the same thing from Sutton Bank, down Cleveland way to your van, right at that junction, up the road, then a right in a valley bottom up the track and up the steep hill back to the Cleveland way and back to Sutton Bank. One day nice and sunny, one day half cloudy and drizzle. Great views up there. Thanks for the video nice to see where I went. Cheers
Thanks for your kind words! I did the road descent into Osmotherley yesterday, that was great, hopefully I got some usable footage for a quick video.
Nice video Bob. I remember racing around Boltby in the 90's, doing the Boltby Bash!
@overthehillmountainbiking on a nice day the views are tremendous!!
I think i may use this gpx in the summer next year Ive done the paradise trail last year on Ian Jacksons gpx. Great ride great video Thanks Bob
@thepainterdude1 The route on komoot should be OK most of the year (with a bit of pushing). The highlighted red section would be best in the summer, I think
Ok, I would do this ride again, I just need to sort out the transition into Boltby woods. There is a QR code to scan at the end of the video for the Komoot route
cracking ride with awesome views thanks Bob
There's so much great riding round here, we are so lucky!!
ive got the same 6500 light and it game changing maybe one day ill come and do Dalby in the dark.GREAT VIDEO BOB
Thanks for that!! Doing the extra shots adds a lot of time, but it's definitely worth the effort!
My mate fell off in front of me the other day exactly there, pedalled straight onto that tree stump smothered at the edge of the grass/trail and piked himself off like a pole vaulter. Hope you’re okay, you’re not the first and probably not the last. 😁👍
I bounce pretty well. The full body armour is worth wearing and really gives you confidence. Think it would have hurt without protection, but I was absolutely fine!
Never done the blue route…. I might try it one day.
It's quite a nice easy ride, and you can repeat the 2 berm sections. You can also do the last red sections too if you want
Good place to start Night riding choosing the Blue Route. I hope to get up there soon for my first attempt. During the day I missed the Chicken Tikka bit completely, didn’t see the post, and Tiny Dancer is barely visible so well done on that bit. 👍
@Wingnut65 to be honest chicken tikka isn't brilliant, but better than the fire road! Tiny Dancer feels great as you are right in the trees. I have done some of the red at Hamsterley at night, but this is as challenging as I would try by myself at night. And I was wearing full body armour, just in case!!
That looks fantastic Bob. I’d love to do this ride. I think I’ve managed to follow you on Komoot but I can only see four of your rides from 2022. Any chance of a link to this Rosedale ride?
It's in the planned section, I'll see if I can send a link
@@bobthebimbler thanks mate, appreciate it
@paulannable3734 if you follow me on Komoot I can send you a QR code
@@bobthebimbler I’m new to Komoot Bob, and I thought I’d successfully followed you, but all I can see are 4 rides you did in 2022. I’ll look into it and try again. I’ve obviously done something wrong.
Nice ride.
Thanks. There is a bridleway from Carlton Road that leads to Monks Garden Lane that cuts out the main road completely. It's a bit soggy and overgrown but a good, safe alternative
Suitable for a hard tail Bob?
@pythongrun very much so, I used to do it on a hardtail before I got the eeb. It's a bit of a drag on the first climb, but some of the flowy sections are much quicker without rear squish.
Nice ride Bob
@samwomersley3487 Thank you!! My wife is very keen to do this one.
Nice video and a good ride thanks for sharing it with us Bob. Going to do it soon.
It's pretty good all year round. A bit soggy at the top of the bridleway across the common, but as long as you have a rear mudguard you can stay clean and dry.
The sounds a little muffled Bob, cracking footage though 👍
Yep, my wife always comments on that. I've got the gopro chin mounted, so I'm not sure why. Even with the wind muffler, it should be clearer.I'll have to try and project more!!!......
I keep forgetting to speak up on the intro or outro if the helmet is off. You just feel a bit of an eejit talking loudly at a camera!
Looks a great ride do you have gpx or a komoot?
If you follow me on Komoot (Bob Manwaring ) its in my saved tours. I think originally the loop starts near the Lion pub, but I preferred the start abd finish in Rosedale.
Any chance of a .gpx file for the ride
strava.app.link/bySrUeMfbNb That's the strava link. I got the route off Komoot, I found it easier to follow than on my Garmin
Do you have a GPX file for this or a Strava link?
strava.app.link/bySrUeMfbNb That's the strava link
Was this real filmed on the 22nd of September. The weather is amazing
@AndrewDaley-lr9qg this was last Wednesday. We had a magnificent few days away in the caravan, enjoying it while we can. I've been out this afternoon before a few days of rain ahead!
Great video Bob and a good insight to riding in the Rosedale area. Been a while since I've been riding there and interesting to see quite a lot (if not most!) of the old railway is gravel. Some good bridleways too, remember the one that descended into Lastingham was a belter. And good pubs for a post ride pint too 😃
Will have to try that descent!
@@bobthebimbler seem to remember it was a shooting track but really fast. Also the Blacksmith's Arms in Lastingham is a lovely pub, worth a visit for a cheeky pint or swift half!!
Nice pleasant ride Bob….. shame the camera went funny at the single track section… it looked like it would be good. I’ve had many a pint at the pub after a ride in that area too. 😂
@@EMTBnorthyorkshiredad just gives me a reason to do the ride again!
Nice video Bob and thanks for the mention. You certainly had good weather. Not sure what camera you use, but I've just ordered the brand new DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro. I'm still using the original Action 1, so this will be a BIG upgrade 😁
@@overthehillmountainbiking it's an old gopro hero 7 black. I'm thinking of getting a more modern camera for Christmas and using the 7 for b roll shots.
@@bobthebimbler yeah the 7 came out the same time as my Osmo Action 1. Cameras have changed a lot since then
Hi mate what are you riding 😀
@AutoGleamTruths it's the original 2019 e150s. Hasn't skipped a beat from new except when I've crashed it!!!
It's not bad at all. There is a diversion on the website for wet weather, I think it cuts out the "nettly " bit.
Nice looking route 👏👊🏻
Great video Bob. Love the commentary and lack of bad language as always. Keep them coming.
And I didn't even swear when I f@!£%#&g fell off!! Thanks for the good feedback
I was mightily impressed with that, I would’ve sworn when i fell off. 😬😬😬
great video bro
@coffeebean9910 it's the first time I've done b roll shots, I think it adds a lot to the video
Great video Bob. Loved it. I was there a couple of weeks ago and fell off on section 18. I’ve got a n emtb and the acceleration going downhill was fantastic but was my undoing on a right hand switchback. Be careful of the bike pickup going down hill!!
I've had a couple of crashes doing the little drop into the last switchbacks, just caught that naughty root and bosh!!! Since I've had the eeb I tend to wear body armour and full face if I'm doing anything where I'm likely to fall off, having a 25kg bike land on you isn't fun!!
That's normally the route I do when I'm up dalby, good video
Thanks for that, I appreciate any feedback. I used to do the blue up to the first bermy bit, but since they improved section 5, I prefer this version of the loop.
Cool video
go on bob
Looks great fun.
I enjoyed the e-bike chase from 12:10 secs. Thanks Bob! Amazing you caught the camera on the trail dropped by the lads in front and safely returned.
Class lads!
I like it, Bob. Looking good. What are you using to edit? I've found DaVinci Resolve to be beyond excellent. I'm happy to share a few tips if you're interested. You can mail me here if you like... www.meantfordescent.com/contact/ Cheers, Chris.
Well done lads!
