The mockery is part of it, but Jesus saying it is accomplished is rather weird. What did Jesus accomplish by being mocked and drinking vinegar? Who dragged vinegar to golgata?

Why would they a wine/myrhh mix? 21They gave me also gall for my food, and made me drink vinegar for my thirst. [From Psalm 69] This was the prophecy being fulfilled. The vinegar in the prophecy is one of the products of the vine that Nazarites were prohibited from drinking. Vinegar is what wine turns into after the introduction of a certain bacteria. What Jesus was doing was finishing the establishment of the New Covenant into which His disciples had entered the night before. Hence, Jesus declared "It is finished".

This man's assessment of the vinegar wine given to Jesus is false.... The significance of the vinegar given to Jesus was much deeper and extremely prophetic... He was first offered wine with Gall (Matt 27:34) that he refused. Also called sour wine with myrh in Mark 15. He refused this wine because it was a pain killer. He did not want that. In John 19:29 (the verse used in the video) its clearly not the toilet brush that they used as he is suggesting... ‭John 19:28-30 NET‬ [28] After this Jesus, realizing that by this time everything was completed, said (in order to fulfill the scripture), “I am thirsty!” [29] A jar full of sour wine was there, so they put a sponge soaked in sour wine on a branch of hyssop and lifted it to his mouth. [30] When he had received the sour wine, Jesus said, “It is completed!” Then he bowed his head and gave up his Spirit Soldiers always had jars or buckets of watered down sour wine to drink.... So, they soaked up a sponge and it says they put it on a branch of hyssop to give to him... Do you understand the prophetic significance of this? Being at the point of death, Jesus wished to say His final words. His parched lips and throat needed moisture, so he accepted the vinegar. The vinegar wine was offered to Jesus as they filled a sponge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth. Hyssop was of extreme significance to the Jews, because it would remind the Jews of the first Passover night when each household among the Israelites in Egypt slew a perfect lamb and put the blood on the doorpost so that the death angel would pass over the houses of the Israelites. Moses had commanded the Israelites, Ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the basin, and strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that is in the basin; and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning (Exodus 12:22). It was the blood of the Passover lamb that saved the Israelites from death. On the cross, the perfect Lamb of God gave His life’s blood to save mankind. ‭Exodus 12:21-23 NET‬ [21] Then Moses summoned all the elders of Israel, and told them, “Go and select for yourselves a lamb or young goat for your families, and kill the Passover animals. [22] Take a branch of hyssop, dip it in the blood that is in the basin, and apply to the top of the doorframe and the two side posts some of the blood that is in the basin. Not one of you is to go out the door of his house until morning. [23] For the Lord will pass through to strike Egypt, and when he sees the blood on the top of the doorframe and the two side posts, then the Lord will pass over the door, and he will not permit the destroyer to enter your houses to strike you.

This is completely false....

Heartbreaking, but still... I appreciate the information in this video... it helps me see more clearly how much my Savior loved and suffered for us.

I had to stop watching this because I always skip the crucifixion part in scripture because it’s so painful and this didn’t help …my heart is so sad

I reckon it truly was heartbreaking for you to learn and retell this account. Jesus endured this torture for the redemption of our souls because He loves us. We love and revere You our Lord, God and Savior, Jesus.

Vinegar-soaked sponges were used as toilet paper in roman times. The Romans had communal toilets and they all shared the same sponge for doing the business.

Jesus wills to make you free, not want. The word want means lack but a lot of people don't catch that. 💚
