    I have a couple of the little micro kilns i tried with jewelry. It was mid, but I'm harvesting raw clays and was looking for a way to test them. What a great idea! thanks!!

    Use a generator

    • @BrevaCreative
      @BrevaCreative 19 днів тому

      Wow, lots of issues with that option. A generator that could power a kiln would need to be 12kw, which will cost over $1000. A microwave costs $40. Secondly, kilns constantly turn the elements on and off which can be really hard on your brand new $1,000 generator. Next, the kiln has to run for about 10 hours straight without stopping, meaning you may need to refill the generator halfway through. Also, we live in an urban area, and running a generator for 10 hours straight might make the neighbors a little unhappy. I'll stick with the microwave for now, but thanks for the comment and for watching!

    Doood ☠️😮 That cutting tool action in shorts and sneakers freaked me out. Don't be dumb like I was - my buddy lost control of the cutter and it landed on my foot. ER visit to re-attach my toe. Seriously a dangerous tool. Now I wear steel toed boots and reinforced Carhartt pants. - Just sayin ❤

    I know it's eight months out, but here's an idea for coppering edges, you could try electroforming copper on to it. I'm just starting out in stained glass myself, and having done a couple pieces, I'm looking to try my hand at repairing one of my favorite mugs that had an unfortunate incident. Seeing how much you're struggling to foil those edges, I think electroforming is the way to go here. Will take longer, but I think the results will speak for themselves

    Other commenters pointed this out, but it cannot be said enough. Coat the fibers. Coat the fibers. Coat the fibers. They will break off and cause respiratory damage. Also, use a respirator with p100 filters when cutting the wool. She just stated she didn't realize there were no filters. That's because she didn't test her mask after putting it on. Use filters. Test your mask every single time. What those fibers do to your lungs is no joke.

    The ceramic fiber must be coated with furnace cement or similar. Using it as is forces a blast of fibers into the air. This material is particularly dangerous to lungs and spreads far 0:06 .

      Not really, there was a string of burglaries in different storage facilities around the time of ours, so I doubt there was a correlation to that video. I think we just got really unlucky! The listings have all sold, there's no sign anywhere of any of our stuff, we have screenshots of all the listings, and it's been about 3 weeks since it happened. Chances are it's all gone already. Also our channel is small enough that it's not a serious concern, and we need to raise some startup funds to cover this incident.

    Hi, I don't know anyone else has mentioned but when you use ceramic fiber you need to add a hardener also called regidizer because without it, over time and use the blanket will release fibers and the fibers are very very bad health, they are very incompatible with life (Sorry for the bad englis)

    • @JasonSipe16
      @JasonSipe16 2 місяці тому

      This is correct! You can use Sodium Silicate (Water Glass). Spray on the inside and it will react with CO2 in the air and harden, protecting you from future fiber dust.

    • @BrevaCreative
      @BrevaCreative 4 місяці тому

      I've never ever heard of that, we were super careful while installing and i don't breath the fumes while burning since there's off gassing and whatnot from clay and glazes as well. Can't get better ventilation than open air. Will do a bit more research but im not super worried since we are careful and the insulation is rated for the high temps
