Barn owl hunt by sound and Juliet has been trained to search out a squeak in the grass. On a still day she can find it from 100m away. We have to get to about 10m before we can hear it.

Hi, small species of owls arent a good starter owl because you can make them sick quite easily from trying to control their weight, a good starter owl would be an African spotted eagle owl or any owl similar size or a bit larger.
Hi, have you or did you feed also zophobas to the owl ? They are bigger and I think it could be a supplement for the bird.

Wow! How'd you get yourself a burrowing owl? I'm trying to save them in California ( savetheburrowingowl.org ). What a cutie!
They are illegal to own in the USA to my knowledge because of the migratory bird species act which bans the ownership of many different species of bird from herons, anhingas, and morhens to the burrowing owl. I could be wrong but I don’t think you can get any permitting either. But they are fricken adorable.
