Hey when it's your first playthrough, the bosses have plenty of health, sure when I replay it I laugh, but back then, this game was hard enough. Then I found out about the reverse castle.

This guy definitely died a million times when he first played this game. If you don’t know what to do it’s not particularly easy.

Crissaegrim is infinitely more useful to farm than any of these... and Medusa shields big payoff is it deals damage just like the dark shield

Personally I think it's a great mechanic and I don't think that problem you mentioned is really a problem. Seriously why do you need to be level 99 or 100? (I don't know what the max level is).

Whenever I hear the phrase "I took care of them" I can't help but think about them being tucked into bed with a hot water bottle and getting a lil kiss on the forehead. That is particularly hilarious with these bosses. Legion being tucked into bed just like :3 and asking for chicken soup.

I mean, unless there's some reason to go for level cap other than bragging rights, I'd say a mechanic that says "hey, stop wasting your time killing these chumps and go do the thing" is pretty healthy. I actually appreciate games that respect their intended challenge enough to push you AWAY from endless grinding and onward with the story so you get to see future encounters as they're meant to be experienced.

HoD has the most confusing map of any Castlevania and I still beat it in under 10 hours. Don't know what to tell you.

The talisman has a trick, is based on luck. So if you are playing the game with the code that makes you start with luck at 99, once you get it you are basically undamageable . No matter what, the talisman would negate the damage, which is the main weakness of the luck run, as you start with very low hp.

I think that as long as you are moving when he spawns, if dracula spawns on top of you you can immediately start walking in the other direction to avoid him

Man this takes me back, but what a masochistic challenge! I know it's one of those semantics things, but for the sake of keeping it reasonable I'd say you could've used the whip on candles to collect hearts.

To be fair, you can get the talisman in game without grinding. I honestly never used it. I just stuck with the crissagram (which isn’t super hard to get with the right stuff to increase luck) which carried me through the rest of the inverted castle.

The trick with Dracula phase 1 is to keep moving. As long as you're moving when he spawns on top of you he can't hit you, and if he spawns in front of you just stop moving.

I love when games have this, the idea of getting so powerful that it's an active chore to go further beyond makes you have to consider the game differently if you want to reach max level, assuming there is one otherwise it's a race to find how long until overflow occurs, I've always enjoyed less efficient but more interesting spots myself but then I have the intention to do it myself instead of cheesing it usually :p
