She's an INVENTOR: how I made my portable display & its evolution since then! 💡 Collapsible Shelf #5
Having a solid market display can make or break your sales at a pop-up. When I learned that lesson after a huge market flop in 2019, I went to the drawing board with my dad to create some collapsible shelves that quickly became the centerpiece of my booth. They have seen a large evolution since their first introduction, and I'm so excited to finally be sharing the building plans with YOU!
This video takes you through the full two year process of what it was like to get these shelves made: from designing at the kitchen table to having two of these that I use at my shows! And also... a quick explanation as to why it took so long to get here. :)

As with all great inventions, this build is beginning to be reverse-engineered and copied. While I realize now that I should’ve patented this design, I didn’t realize I had something special until it was too late to go down that road. As such, I am sharing this tutorial with you now, and want to say thank you for supporting the original designer of this unit. ❤️

The Display That's Made Me THOUSANDS At Markets! 🤑 DIY Pegboard Easel Tutorial
This is a very nice and handy stand and a very good building instruction video. The only two issues here are: 1. You really need a workshop space for this. 2. This stand would only work for an indoor market or an outdoor one in good weather and where there are no restrictions on putting stuff onto the street (where people walking by can trip over it). But it might be useful to someone. As for me, I took notice, made a bookmark and will also look for a table-friendly version.
I use this at outdoor shows all the time - sometimes two at once. It is tucked inside of my booth outside of the walkway and it's never been an issue for us.
Genius!!!
When drilling metal , use a nail and hammer to make an indentation so your bit doesn't move around. And a metal bit is better.
Great tip! I'll be sure to try this next time. 🙂
Hey sugar, you're more than just a girl. Women can build things also. My Papa taught me.
Spiral bound coloring books!! How have I never seen these.

@@DaniAlexandria thank you so much!! There is a lot of babbling that gets cut 😂
I like how you displayed each design individually on your top racks. It's a very nice presentation ❤
Thank you so much! :-)
@kynyoubelieveit If you should decide to build another fixture, here's a little something that should help: •For drilling on metal- use a center punch or a hammer and nail to mark your drill point. This will help keep your drill bit centered and from going all over the place. Also, start with a smaller bit and pre-drill. Work your way up. •For your dowels- tape them flat like you did, but wrap the tape all the way around the dowels while you have them lined up. (Tape both ends) When you are done drilling through one side, spin your other side towards you and drill your holes. Having them taped together flat like this will make it easier as you wouldn't need to realign the holes, and everything will be in the right position. I hope you find this helpful. Have a blessed day!
@@Lady_of_Ishpeming great tips! thanks!
Do I have plans on making a collapsable shelf anytime soon? No its almost November and I live in Toronto Market season is so over! did I watch all 3 of these videos all the way through and make sure to leave a comment on each one to boost it? yes, yes I did :)
Appreciate you!! And it's great that these will be here waiting for you when you market season kicks off. :)

You make me feel like I could actually build something!! ❤ one of the best building tutorials I've seen!!
@@JordynAlisonDesigns you’re the sweetest!! Lmk when your mom builds one 😜😂
As always your market display pieces are an inspiration! A few questions for you: 1. How much clothing d these racks hold? 2. How are your pegboard easels holding up in terms of durability? My pegboards keep chipping any tips for that? 3. Do your bottoms on your sticker ledges ever fall out? 4. What do you use to attach your signs to the rack and to the pegboard without damaging it?
Thanks so much! It depends on how you use it! Max you can fit 12 designs with 8-10 of each design. The layout video that's coming up will show more! I've never had chipping on my pegboard, and haven't had the ledges fall out, but if your pegboard goes through a lot of temperature changes (i.e. heat), that will cause warping an may result in ledges not sitting flush - the pegs are designed to help in those instances though. I have command strips on this rack that signs attach to, and on my easel, I use pegboard accessories to hold signage! :)
Link in description doesn’t work
It will update by Saturday! The content is rolling out over a few days so the link isn't live yet.
This is already so many details! I haven’t decided whether I want to keep doing markets but you can bet I’ll be watching all the videos 😅
Aw yay! The tutorial will be waiting for you if you decide to keep going with them 🥰
You always have the best display items!
Thank you so much!
I’ve been dreaming about this pegboard since I saw it on Pinterest. Thanks so much for the video on how to make it.!!
Aw yay! Good luck! :-)
I just finished building one of these for my first market. Great video and instructions on your blog. Thank you!! Only one question did you attach a strap to make it easier to carry and if so what did you use?
Glad it was helpful! We don't have any kind of strap on it, though I'd love to add one. Just haven't found a good option that makes sense. If you find something... let me know! 🙂
I found your video for this on Pinterest and that led me to your website. So useful to have this information! I'm pretty good at DIYing without instructions but little details like attaching the screws at slightly offset points on the front and back are definitely SO useful. I would 100% have made that mistake! I'm going to start selling stickers and prints and little booklets in a local store and I have a small 2x'3' floor space, so this is a perfect size. I'll likely make one for markets as well. WONDERFUL, THANK YOU!!
Yes!! This is the perfect size for a small lil pop up stand and getting a lot displayed in a small amount of space! :-) Good luck!
These are cuteee
Also i love girl in red:)
thank you :)
THIS IS 100% HELPFUL. ONLY INFO I WAS MISSING WAS THE COST TO BUILD? TY TY TY TY 💕💕💕
When I built mine, I had the pegboard on hand already. My receipt for the hinges, various screws and wood legs was about $50, but my 180º hinges came from Amazon and they're somewhere around $10. Once you account for pegboard cost too, it's likely somewhere in the $100 range, though you can likely bring this down by using a different wood type OR if you have some of the screws and smaller parts on hand already.
EXCUSE ME did you say bookish coloring book?? 😍
@@NectarHandmade 😜😜
Wo waw thanks .. all that I need here it is in 9 n half min. ❤
You're welcome! Let me know if you have any questions :)
This was honestly such a joy to watch and kinda soothing lol. Loved the BTS look. I currently don’t have any of your coloring books, though I did take a suggestion from your markers blog post. Might need to get this one!
Aw I'm so glad! :') This is a perfect one to start with!
I'm soooooo excited for this one, and love seeing the process! 🍂
Can't wait to see what you do with 'em!! <3
Do you have a video on the card system?
Nope, but it's a Square card reader!
I think it's evidenced in your artwork that words are important to you, and I think that's okay! You don't need to try and cater to everyone, or you'll end up with something you're not happy with, and something that more people will like, but fewer will love.
@@Alexandre6t I love this take! :’) I’ve been sure to keep the “word-less” things as designs I’m still happy with. It’s fun to go out of my comfort zone!
Omg that looks like a lot of fun! Maybe one day I'll be able to get one
Did you also make the pegboard spinner?
The spinner I did not make, we do have it linked here though: www.amazon.com/shop/kynyoubelieveit
Which cart is that? And what size table do you use if using other stands? What card system are you using?
We have the cart linked here: www.amazon.com/shop/kynyoubelieveit/list/5IVSWBNK9J7W?ref_=aip_sf_list_spv_ofs_mixed_d We use a Square card reader!
How much do the materials cost? Was watching this and looked over at my kid's Ikea art easel and wondered if I could use it to add a pegboard piece without building one (no experience). We're also limited with a smaller vehicle and what we can fit for markets.
You could 100% repurpose an already made easel for this, but I would recommend adding in those 180º hinges. They're essential for this build! When I built mine, I had the pegboard on hand already. My receipt for the hinges, various screws and wood legs was about $50, but my 180º hinges came from Amazon and they're somewhere around $10. Once you account for pegboard cost too, it's likely somewhere in the $100 range. If you just need pegboard though, probably $20-40 depending on how many sheets of pegboard you need!
