    Wonderful instructions and photos--GREAT video. But where can I buy camel's hair "felting wool" and the tools you are using??? I live across the river from NY City's old (and gutted) "garment district." Might I find the tools there? I have several beautiful camel's hair garments I cannot bear to throw out.

    Would you please list more specifics about the type/model/size of drill or drummel and drill bits you are using here? I am trying to figure out which items to buy to drill my shells, but I have never used a drill before and don’t have a clue.

    Thank you for posting this! Excellent explanation. It's been a long time since I altered a jacket sleeve and I really needed a refresher! I decided I'm going to end up with a sleeve length that's a bit longer than ideal so I can have the button not quite so close to the edge.

    Thank you!! I’ve always wondered ….doesnt the felting needle cut into the existing weave and weaken those pre-woven strands for future wear?

    • @CraftyCreature
      @CraftyCreature 3 місяці тому

      Can't say I've heard of that happening. The old fibres become blended with the new which makes for a strong and permanent repair. I know it looks a bit savage, repeatedly stabbing the fabric with a needle, but I'd say it's no weaker than a piece of embroidery, for example.

    • @CraftyCreature
      @CraftyCreature 6 місяців тому

      Something as big/thick as a conch might require a more substantial drill. The hobby drill I used is more suitable for smaller item. Did you even manage to make a dent in it, or was it a complete no-go? I'm quite curious to know what you're working on to want to drill a conch!

      It works best with felt and woollen fabric including knits, but also works well on most medium- to heavy weight including cotton, denim, and velvet.
