Please make this camera, Canon!!!!!
With the release of the Canon R5II (and upcoming release of the R1), Canon is still missing one key camera in their product lineup- a sexy, fun, retro EDC camera. Here are my thoughts on what Canon should do when making this camera, which I think would create a complete TAKEOVER of the camera industry by Canon!

Best Fuji Street Shooter Lens? - Fujifilm 23mm f/2 vs. TT Artisan 27mm f/2.8

Since the Fujifilm 27mm f/2.8 pancake lens is sold out everywhere, I thought I would compare two readily available alternatives for the Fuji x-mount system- the Fujifilm 23mm f/2 'fujicron' lens and the TT Artisan 27mm f/2.8. I found out they are both great lenses, depending on your budget and low light shooting needs.

    I wish more manufacturers would give the Leica Q line some competition. I mean an actual apples-to-apples competitor. Not being made in Germany by itself - with all else being equal - would make it cheaper.

    • @lelandfitz1762
      @lelandfitz1762 9 годин тому

      Considering what the Qs pack they are outrageously cheap for Leica standards. Just the lenses, standalone for SL or M cost around 4-5k from Leica. I gather people who can afford several of those lenses also can afford the 28mm and the 43mm cameras each. It seems a niche other companies don't see a profit in. APS-C fixed lens models like Fuji's cost almost 2k on their own. If someone would make a full frame model like the Q they would have to still ask for 3-4k, which isn't a lot cheaper than the Q. And I guess most customers want interchangeable lenses when they drop 3-4k into a body.

    If you have the R5, spending over 4G for a marginally upgraded R5mk2 is a big no. Canon hit a high point with the R5 and RF 100-500 but thats it. The RF 200-800 is a joke. Many of my friends hv switched to Nikon z8. More so with their amazing and affordable Pf glasses.

      Yeah, this was more of an iterative/catch up version of a camera. So depending on your use case, especially if you aren't shooting video or super fast moving subjects, it may not make sense to upgrade.

      Yes, I have some videos on the X-T5 from around the time it and the Zf came out. I actually think the X-T5 or X-T50 are better cameras for most people than the X100VI. The X100 just looks a little cooler and has the nifty OVF.

    I’m usually looking for cameras without joysticks😂. Technology to price value for me the Q3 is a huge ripping off my money. But good for leica to the people they manage to get that money. I was going to get the next x100 to replace my v but didn’t like they moved manufacturing to communist china. I’m actively buying less fun products I don’t need from china. Plus I realized I’ve been using my OM5 with the 17mm 1.2 (equivalent 34mm)far more than my 100v) Also I have all these Nikon lenses and I haven’t removed my voigtlander 40mm 1.2 from my zf in almost 7months. Basically I’m just carrying my ZF and OM5 almost exclusively. OM5 for days when I need greater depth of field and the ZF when I need to blur out every last detail in the background.😂

      Sounds like you'v dialed in your setup! I am curious though, don't you miss having a joystick to move the focus point around accurately? I think the only camera I have tried where I soooort of thought the AF was good enough not to need joystick support was the newest Sonys. Even like the Zf will make weird choices with AF, and I really wished I had a joystick to guide it back to where I actually wanted it!

    • @MatrixfanMacUser
      @MatrixfanMacUser 2 дні тому

      As an amateur hobbyist, I arrived to this conclusion by experience. BTW it still doesn’t flip out completely, just like the R5. I’m in the market for a full frame system, but have some experience with my Panasonic GH5 for video and photos. At first I didn’t get why other manufacturers go above and beyond with mechanics tilting in every possible way but not articulating the screen to the side. It’s all about having the center of the display inline with optical middle line of the lens. This way you won’t feel detached from your image when composing or recording. It’s a camcorder heritage and it’s okay there but with more serious composition, even with video, I always tend to use the EVF or leave the display closed in when not possible. Of course the best of both world solution to this already exists at Sony and Panasonic, albeit that locks out sideways freedom of motion when using it in tilting mode. I feel the same way with the R5mkII. Technology wise it’s just a “catch up” to the others and still not there in some areas. Having no oversampled 4K at 60p in 2024 is such a deliberate “dickhead” move from Canon. The cover flaps are flimsy and I’m not that enamored with the new battery either. Price wise it’s really up there, along with the lenses. However, imho the main reason to buy into Canon are imaging qualities that most people identify as “Canon colors”. IMHO it’s not exclusively color science at the software/LUT level. Canon images are not clinically accurate sometimes but there’s a large emphasis on skin tones. In general somehow Canon images have a certain 3D quality to them. This may be the reason why they try to postpone 3rd party lenses as far as they can beside shady business practice. They are afaik the only company not buying the sensor base from Sony. There’s control over the whole light path from photons to pixels. What people tend to call color science (imho totally wrongly) is micro contrast and depth of the images across an imaginary Z coordinate. Sony images are always sharper but i see a 2D quality to the photos. Besides that I always the feeling of only Canon is capable to capture shades of red and and not pushing green to the extremes. It’s like as if a trade off was made exchanging clinical sharpness for depth and micro contrast in the images.

The plastic of the canon will absorb the choc and more the camera structure nore the camera system will brake (experimented too : both my Leica Q3 and canon R6 felt down at the same time from the same height : the Leica is out of order : not a injure outside, but inside its broken. Just too many cutbacks. This and the manual F8 lens are just weird. All their firmware etc is amazing, but it's odd how much they took out of this, especially the shutter.

    I guess it really depends on one's needs. I had couple of Fujis, Canon R8, Sony A7C II and it's Panasonic S9 that I have most fun with. Is it limited ? Yes, but they probably cut corners to have something for version 2 when it comes out and to cut some price too. I shoot in ES mode due to silence and I didn't have any problem with rolling shutter with any of cameras that I had and I shoot my running kids all the time. Strangely I also didn't encounter any banding yet and I shot couple times in artificial light with S9. I don't need EVF as I always shoot with LCD and I didn't have any problems shooting in full sun during holiday in Spain. I don't need hot shoe as I won't use flash and I won't use microphone. I want camera to be as compact as it can be. I love LUT option which is a game changer for great SOOC for photo and video. IBIS is second to none. Size with Sigma I series or some manual Voigtlanders is basically the same as my old Fuji X-E4. Colors in my opinion are right behind Fuji, I hated working with Sony, Nikon or even Canon colors. AF is also sufficient for today's standards. I am not a fan of vlogger type screen and build quality could be better but to be honest outside of Fuji , Leica and Nikon Zf everything seems plasticky for me. I also don't get people complaining about lack of joystick. With AF tech on those new bodies tracking knows what to do most of the time and if not single tap on screen is way faster for changing subject than with joystick. So for one this camera is trash but for me it's the most fun camera I had since my Fujis.

    Like I tell everyone this camera is useless garbage. It's a cellphone with removable lenses. I'm a Sony, Fuji and Lumix user so have literally no Bias towards any brand. I was so considering buying this when it was still a rumor but they literally took out all the things that make a camera a camera.
