Miele F78 error fix
Miele dishwasher F78 error fault
My dishwasher had the F78 error come up, and it needed to be fixed. It turns out that it's a pump lubrication problem that can be fixed for little cost.
This short video shows how to dismantle the dishwasher, take out the circulation pump, lubricate those parts that need it, and reassemble.
It works, which is the main deal. However, the 'cure' only lasts a couple of years or so, and needs repeating it seems.
The older Miele dishwashers had the circulation pump impeller accessible from inside the dishwasher. These more modern ones are not built the same way, and so it was necessary to dismantle the dishwasher from underneath.
C'est la vie.

How to replace a leaking outlet seal on a toilet

Replacing the outlet seal on a toilet is not particularly difficult, but does take time. It's also not the most pleasant task. However, it is satisfying when complete. This video shows how it was done.

After 7 years the door seal of my Miele WDA110 washing machine needs replacement. A suitable compatible, costing 1/5th of an original was ordered. The process of replacement is shown in this video.

Hole in one!

Howard has a hole in one for the first time in his life, and is ecstatic.
Yeah, I m not doing that…
Thanks so much for this video. I used it to help me replace the seal on my w1 Miele.
You absolute legend sir, just done the repair, you made it easy. Huge thanks!!
Exceed video for replacing the seal, in my case problem wasn’t the seal but a badly distorted steel drum which I have vigorously reshaped with a mallet so it doesn’t foul the seal. Will try it out tomorrow??
You are my champion, thanks for the video. Job Done, only with your help!!
Thanks for the video! One question, why do I have to replace the door lock release handle?
The door lock release is attached to the front panel. It has to be unscrewed so the front panel can be freely removed without being attached to the door lock or anything else.
@@david4bs but cant I just re-attach the old one?
I used the door lock release handle to open the door. Now the d*mm door won’t lock itself. Any ideas? Thank you 🙏🏻
@@mattiasnygren4134 Yes of course you can! By 'replace' I mean to 'put back where it came from'. Not buy a new one!
@@mattiasnygren4134 No, I don't know why. However, it's a simple setup in practice which either works or doesn't. It's possible that it hasn't been replaced properly or it's been damaged.
Very helpful, thank you.
I used this on my Miele W1913. Removing the front panel was a bit different and I saw how that’s done on another YT guide with a fella drinking a lot of wine 😅. But the replacing of the seal was spot on and now my Miele doesn’t leak anymore. Many thanks 🎉
Very helpful, thanks!
Many thanks. From a previous Samsung machine I knew what was involved but cant beat a refresher ! Perfect video 👍😊
Thanx for a super useful video! Replaced my seal in no time, thanx to you!
Verywell done...saved me a fortune
Thanks so much. I just used this technique for a Miele W5741. It worked perfectly!
Thanks David,perfect
Thank you, David. I used the same procedure for my Miele 5965, which has a virtually identical seal (except it has a sensor next to the hose on top, so some additional fiddling is required). This video helped a lot!
Thanks David!🙂
Many thanks for the video. I made some notes on my W304 Premier seal replacement. The black inlet hose is connected to a white plastic 'T' piece which is fitted from inside the seal, so if this is the case you must pull the hose off this plastic tube rather than with it. The seal clamp screw was fitted on the right of the drum so I didn't need to remove the door lock. Clean the black scum from inside the drum outer casing before fitting the seal. Replace the T piece from inside the seal and place the clamp over the seal before fitting around the drum casing and re-connecting the black inlet hose. I used a box spanner to tighten the clamp. Don't over tighten. I cleaned to door seal rim on the front panel with a cloth & IPA as there was residual rubber on the rim. Make sure that the top plastic lugs on the front panel are fully seated. Check that the centre bolt hole is fully exposed before attempting to screw this bolt in otherwise you will probably cross-thread both the bolt and the two screws at the bottom of the panel. Before fitting the outer part of the seal, hold the door lock in place from inside the panel to correctly thread the door lock screws. Make sure that the drum rotates before fitting the outer part of the seal to the front panel. I cleaned to outer wire clamp carefully with a Scotchbrite pad to remove any rubber. I pressed the wire firmly into the outer seal groove starting around the hinge area. This held it in place whilst I used the screwdriver in a reverse sweeping action from around 11 o-clock down to the spring to pop the rest of the wire in place.
Thank you for very well made, detailed and accurate instructions. No nonsense. Pure to the bone. The best I have seen.
I have always found the compatibles perfectly serviceable so I use them. In this instance I bought the least expensive one I could find and it's working as well as the original.
Is there a particular need to use an original door seal - or what's your view on a compatible one best sourced from ?
Just got back from holiday on Azura, had to watch this to get out of the post holiday blues. Well done guys!! x
