This is a terrible idea. Just start a fire and boil water. If you have electricity you can male a fire and you don't take the chance of killing yourself or someone else. Plus you'd be slowly burning off the casting on those keys in the water so definitely do not drink it. All around a bad idea. 👎

Stingers are easy to make. And burning down the house is easy to do, too, if you use a homemade Stinger. I have two: A 250 Watt one that I use for Hot Cocoa, ands a 1,000 watt one that I use for Bathtubs of water. The formert cost $4.95, the latter $12.95. Not having the Insurance Claim denied on a house fire is worth the expense of an appliance that is UL Certified.

None of this is ideal. You are better off just ordering a new tip. If you take care of your tips...tin them often, you won't have this issue. Also, grinding the tips are going to shorten their lifespan drastically. They have important surface layers that help prevent oxidation. The only time this is reasonable is if you are in an area that is really impoverished and has difficulty getting new tips.

@@Ingenioushacks.0609 CD's in a player spin about 500 rpm. Angle grinders often spin about 8,000 rpm - 16 times their designed speed. If that CD shatters at 8,000 rpm, pieces can fly everywhere, including body parts and eyes. Sanding disks that are designed to be used in angle grinders are cheap and available everywhere. Why work so hard to build something that could very easily harm you or anyone (child?) near you?

Don't do this at home. It can either electrocute you or burn your house. 1) Never make joints where they would end up at the same spot after joining the two wires. There is a big possibility that the heat tapes would get stressed and worn out. Guess what would happen....It would either create a short circuit or heat and fire on the joint itself. 2) That joint is on the high stress area of the cable. That is where people pull and push the plug from the wall socket and with the kind of solder done on it, you cannot expect any strength on the cable. Please be responsible enough to make contents that would not put other people in danger. Simply buy a new plug ang connect it. That would be much more safe than this one.

    • @Ingenioushacks.0609

Please DON'T do this! The soldering demonstrated was not done properly, any load on that cable and I suspect the solder would melt. I'm not opposed to trying to repair a power cable, but this is not the way to do it. Using heat shrink is fine, but as stated earlier why not use heat shrink with adhesive instead of tape. I would suggest you pull this video and do it again using better techniques.
