    My dog has megaesophugus and needs to eat smoothies. He takes medication that empties his stomach as it's being ingested so you can actually see his belly fill up. Over the last 6 weeks his belly fills up into the intestines with food then it reverses back up and he reguritates about half of the food. I thought it was just a reaction to food allergies but it's been a long time since we removed the food allergies. Should we get him an endoscopy?

    Buy only animals that have undergone BOAS tests with 0 or grade I results, walk the dog several times a day (one of the walks should be an hour long) and do not overfeed the dog. These dogs need more muzzle and less protruding eyes. I love the pug but am careful about buying a health tested dog without breathing problems

    I genuinely don’t understand why people want these dogs so much!? I had a friend I grew up with, I was very close to her. She had two pugs. I basically grew up with those dogs. They were both very adorable and affectionate dogs but neither could ever fully be potty trained. They were to put it bluntly very dumb. I had a yorkie poo. Aka a yorkie poodle mix. She was much more intelligent and honestly much cuter than my friend’s dogs. And she didn’t have the breathing issues they obviously did with their flat faces. This was during the early 2000s and pugs were VERY popular. For awhile there I think they may have been the most popular dog breed. And I never understood why. I loved my friends pugs but after seeing what she went through with their bathroom problems and health issues I could never own one. I think it’s very unethical that people continue to buy and breed these dogs tbh

    Heart scans are expensive £500 plus . After your pet gets one,it’s not going to make your pet better,it’s a lot of money for the same outcome...serious murmurs can be detected by stethoscope auscultation,by any competent vet..Remember,before the days of pet echocardiography,all murmurs were diagnosed by auscultation...it’s an expensive way of telling “yes,your pet has a murmur “,yet another rip off service from your vet !😡

    • @theralphvet
      @theralphvet 6 місяців тому

      Hi Kevin, the purpose of the echocardiogram is to determine the cause of the murmur and treatment options, not just to say "yes your pet has a murmur". Some heart conditions can be fully treated with the correct treatment plan, allowing pets to live a longer, healthier life that they may otherwise not have been able to. Please let us know if you need any further clarification. Have a lovely day, Team Ralph 🐾

    As someone who's gone through this with a senior cat, it's a lot more common in cats than the literature states (I see so many cat parents in cat health groups with cats showing all the signs of IVDD and/or arthritis talking about this), the issue is it's often not diagnosed properly due to cost of MRI and decompression surgery (x-rays are inconclusive), the common belief that it's rare in cats so is misdiagnosed, and because some professionals believe that it's better to euthanize or sell expensive pseudoscience "treatments" instead of referring to a neurologist. Even worse if they do chiro, pls DO NOT let your pet with possible IVDD have chiro done ! Any manipulation of the spine is the opposite of what's needed and can make it much worse (also chiro is not scientifically based medicine for any creature including us, but in this situation pls do not allow your pet to get it).

    Hello My cat is going to have a surgery, full dental extraction She is a very very stressed cat Afraid of people I am concerned about the moment when they shave the paw and put the catheter Can you please tell me if it is a problem ? I guess my cat is not the only stressed cat in the world and that vets and nurses know how to behave with those cats Right ?

    • @theralphvet
      @theralphvet Рік тому

      Hi Mercy, thank you for reaching out. Cats are very sensitive animals, especially to changes in their environment and so it is very common that veterinary teams need to help and support stressed cats when they are visiting their local practice. We can do this in a manner of ways but we'd recommend contacting your practice to let them know how worried you are about your cat and how they will react when it's time to have the catheter placed. Your cat could potentially be prescribed an anti-anxiety medication prior to their procedure day and that can often help. We hope the dental treatment goes well and your cat feels better soon. Team Ralph 🐾
