i just bought a used 135 gallon tank, seems he had the same problem with the vermetid snails, from the looks of it it was an infestaion. they were all over the sump too, all dead when i got it. he gave me all the rocks, i asked what they were he said they were clove polyps he had to know it was vermetid snails , he probably didnt want to tell me idk i have clove coral and i had to google what it was, now im going to remove all the rock. should i leave the sand ? seems they dont attach to it

Im sorry for your loss, losing loved ones is one of the hardest things in life. No one can tell you what to do with the tank, although when I lost my father, it was something I continued with and was a good way to occupy the mind. Goodluck with all that you do.

Sorry for your loss. I mean looks like you have a lot of live coral and fish looks like the ecosystem is still functioning pretty well. Maybe it is not as neat and tidy as it was before but I think it still looks cool

It looks like a flow issue .. that colony is huge .. no water movement through it. Better to trim back when they get too big. You could do with some flow on the back wall of your tank. Those 2 gyres are not enough

You're fooling yourself if you get into the reefing hobby w/o acknowledging throwing your money away is in fact a good deal of the hobby. It doesn't matter how advanced you are or how much automation you use, your tank will crash and you will lose a great deal of inhabitants, and it will happen more than once.

My condolence sir , life is a eternel combat , stay strong and ask yourself if you still have the passion for reefing, your fish and coral need you to survive after all !

I am very sorry to hear about your father. And I am also very sorry to see your wrasse, heartbreaking really when there is nothing that can be done. IF this hobby can still bring you joy, then persist. If it does not, then there is nothing wrong with leaving the hobby for a while. Do whatever makes you happy and look after yourself.

Hey modern reefer, I can relate buddy. Keep yourself happy and healthy. Your dad would have wanted that for you. He's up there enjoying dim sum and tea with his buddies and relatives.

Thank you for addressing this issue. My v snails don't seem to feed unless I stir up detritus or "blow" the rock work. Nevertheless, I would like to get rid of them! My system is ULN which I think slows their propagation. Also, Tidal Gardens has a great video about management of them for what it's worth. The problem with some of the wrasses is they are inappropriate for smaller tanks and may not be reef safe depending on what you read.

All the new 832s I have don't have this board. They have the IRM-05-12 relay mounted on the main board. Swap that and they run again.
