Hospitalizations and Advocating For Yourself

Today I'm talking about my latest hospitalization and how to deal with difficult doctors. It is important to advocate for yourself and speak up when you don't think something is right. Please educate yourself and don't let doctors have total control just because they have a medical degree! thecrohniemom@gmail.com Instagram: thecrohniemom

Stelara: Initial Infusion and Maintenance Shot
Hi Buddy!!!!
1:10うんこ無修正 サムネ6:55
OMG you are so beautiful I just subscribed to your channel and you remind me so much of one of my favorite paranormal UA-camrs😁😁😁😁 and I’m sorry you went through that it sounds scary🥺🥺🥺
Fab video wel done
hey! have you tried using the powder bottle to “puff” the powder away so its not so thick? it might help with the bottom coming off. i know this is an old video but ya never know!
How old were you when u got a colostomy
It’s so hard trying to find videos on this. Thank you so much for making this. I really wanted to know if I can get pregnant with my ileostomy.
Wow! Had my first infusion of Stelara today. It’s was super easy but I was pretty sleepy afterward. I still went to work two hours later. I, too, had an allergic (anaphylaxis) to Remicade:m. That was rough and scary. I hope it’s working for you, I’m praying it is working for you.
@Amanda oh my gosh! Send me an email at purple6268@hotmail.com please I only pay $5 every six weeks And I’m not wealthy but don’t qualify for Medicaid. Hoping I can help! Have you tried Remicade infusions?
Does your wafer ever unstick under the bottom of your tummy? I use the mio 1 piece and have worries if I sweat I’m going to have a leak?? 😟
What if you have taco bell and it’s spicy will it burn?
The American healthcare system sounds like it sucks. Universal healthcare is the way to go. Interdisciplinary care from start to finish.
Yeah and pay 40% in taxes from your paycheck. Sounds real smart
Are you able to take pain medications as I’m on opiates (morphine) to control the severe pain I have from my stomach and kidneys as I have intestinal Failure so I am on Total Parenteral Nutrition as my stomach doesn’t digest and absorb nutrients from oral food intake, my stomach and vowel are paralysed so I’ve not eaten solid foods for 7 years now hence my need to have total Parenteral Nutrition feeds administered each night via a Hickman line that is inserted into the main artery of my heart. I’m TTC and really concerned about how the effects of my medications and high risk in pregnancy etc. could compromise baby during my pregnancy. I’m 37yrs old and not had a baby yet, but hope and pray that I will be blessed and become 1st time mommy very soon as TTC with medical conditions like ours is a real battle but I know in my heart that god will bless me and I will get pregnant very soon. I wish you all the very best of luck in your pregnancy, you are an awesome mom and your son will be an awesome big brother.
So happy for you all & so thankful that baby is doing great 😊 You are so awesome and I look forward to seeing more vlogs on your pregnancy journey with a Ostomy.
Sending prayers for a healthy delivery of your new baby
yay!! Excited to follow
Congratulations! I hope everything goes smoothly for you.
Congrats. Beautiful news.
Great job on the video production. I am positive you helped a lot of people. Thank you.
WOW.... thanks for sharing that. How often do you have to change the bag? how doesnt the intestine get infected? Did you go through a pregnancy with your bag? how long have you had it?
I change mine between 5-7 days. Everyone is different in wear time. Honestly I don't know about the infection! Some people do get infections on the skin around their stoma. Thankfully I haven't had much trouble with mine! I did not have my ostomy when I was pregnany but I know of lots of women who have and that could still be in my future! I've had mine for 5 years. Thanks for asking!
Thanks for sharing. 😊
Thanks for the video. I've been on Remicade for several years and it's not working anymore. My GI suggested Stelara so after waiting weeks for insurance to approve, I got my first dose (infusion) of Stelara about a week ago. So far so good. I can't really pinpoint any side effects other than fatigue, but that's always a problem for me. However I've started to have a sore throat, not sure that has anything to do with Stelara or if it's a cold or something. Anyway, thanks for the video, I'm hoping Stelara will be beneficial for me. At least I can do the shots at home instead of taking a half day off work for Remicade then a day afterwards to recover.
Yes, doing the shots yourself are so much easier than going in for an infusion! It has taken me almost 9 months but I am finally seeing results with Stelara. Be patient as hard as that can be! Good luck, I haven't really had an side effects so I hope the same for you!
Advice needed for 3 yrs. old girl with NOMID Syndrom, diagnosed several months ago. The approved medicine for this condition is not affordable to the parents. Could Stelara be of any benefit? Please send any available information with personal message. If anybody tried this medicine for this condition please share info.
I'm sorry I don't have any help with this. Hopefully someone else will! I would ask the doctor though about it. My GI will use off label drugs to treat Crohn's so they might do it also for NOMID syndrome? Good luck
Thank you, CM! This little girl is now having a therapy with Methotrexate and interleukin 1 blocker. Her family could not afford the first line therapy but fortunately, she is having a substitute therapy that is preventing the side effects as much as possible.
ohhh and those dresses both looked amazing on you!
I hadn't seen your videos in a while... thanks for stopping by my channel :) xoxo
It can be so fun to get all dressed up! Glad you had a good evening. Never heard of Rent the Runway before this, but will definitely check it out.
You looked gorgeous!!! I’ve heard of rent the runway. I’ll definitely check them out if I ever need a dress 😊
The perfect dress! I thought it fit great w/ a tad of breathing room.
Thank you! Yes it was a perfect fit!!
So happy you are up and running and back at work! Nice editing touches, hope you are feeling more of yourself soon :)
Thank you! Yes everything is finally back to "normal"!
Thank you for posting this! I am receiving my infusion tomorrow and I am soooo nervous but this helped me feel better! :) I hope you are doing well!!
I'm so glad this helped you! Hope everything goes smoothly and you see results soon!
Im sorry you had to go through that. : ( Dont ever feel bad for crying. You have alot of problems that MOST people your age do not ever have to deal with. (I think MEAT is hard to digest even for a healthy body. ) I know you dont know me or I you, but.... Every now and then we all need a good long healthy cryfest. (some people can jog it away, some people can exercise it away... but eventually, a good cry is needed) There's no shame in that. As my 70 yr. old male neighbor told me once: "what do you think tear ducts are for?" what you go through is VERY scary. You are so brave.
Thank you! I love that quote, he sounds so sweet!
Whenever my kids were sick , to keep from dehydrating too much, I always had a bowl of melting ice. No one can drink even a couple ounces if we are throwing up but ice cubes melt slowly and wont fill the belly or alert they gag reflex. One every 15 or 20 minutes.
Yes, I love to chomp on ice!
I was wondering did surgeon have any concerns with you taking stelara shots ?
Nope she is completely on board with my GI so she just lets him prescribe my Crohn's meds. She was concerned because it lowers your immune system and I was already on a slow taper of prednisone so I did have to bump up and do another taper of 40mg of prednisone.
Oh! And I drink pickle juice while on Keto to keep my sodium up haha. The Vlasic Purely Pickles brand is SO good!
Waiting on diagnosis of either Crohn’s or UC (or just new symptoms from Behcet’s, my AI that I already have a diagnosis for)...half these foods are what I’ve been living on during this flare after getting out of the hospital! Applesauce, crackers, mashed potatoes, broth, pretzels. It was a big change because I’ve been on the keto diet for the past 3 months and it’s so hard to switch from next to zero carbs to eating basically only carbs because it’s what my tummy can handle. Ughhh lol - thanks for sharing!
Fyi if you buy something and then the coupon comes out you can take your receipt to customer service after the coupon starts and they will refund the difference :) not sure on how long you have, but I've done it when I needed the item and couldn't wait for the coupon! Have a great day!
I have done that before but it always seem like the customer service has such a long line! Thanks though!
Minnesotan, You Tuber, Meal Planner, AND Plum Paper Planner user? We have A LOT in common!!! Also, my son's name is James...wasn't sure if that was your son's name or maybe you partner? In any case, hi! I subbed back :)
P.S. My 2018 PPP arrived yesterday.
Thanks! Both my husband and son are James!
Great haul sweetie ❤️❤️
Thank you for your bravery and doing this video. I am an infusion nurse and will be administering stelara to a patient soon, so I am doing some research on the drugs side effects, etc. Your video was very helpful! <3
Thank you so much! I can't tell you how much it means to me when I have a nurse who really listens and tries their best to understand instead of just rattling off what they know from school and books! I have been very lucky and haven't had too many nurses who don't listen to me and what I am going through. Crohn's, and many other diseases, are so specific to each person and can be so crazy different for each patient its important that nurses feel comfortable to ask and listen to their patients! Thank you again for being a great nurse!
Have you ever had any problems with the needle not retracting? I had this happen on two occasions where the plunger was down as far as it would go and no retraction.which is fine but then when I take the needle out I can then push the plunger further down and a bit of medicine will shoot out and then it will retract.I'm afraid some of the medicine is getting wasted.
Oh man, I'm sorry I've never had that happen. I would let the pharmacy you order from know and maybe there is something wrong with that "batch".
Thanks for getting back to me! I'm going to have the Dr. do the next one.maybe I'm doing something wrong.
Great haul hun ❤️💕😃💕😃
Munching And Chatting munching and chatting thanks!
Wow great price on the strawberries 🍓 you got some really good deals!!
Thanks!
LoL sounds like my daughter she would never eat her sandwich just the snacks your lunches look Good! Oh Texas road house is my favorite!!
I think my husband would eat Texas Roadhouse every day if he could!
Great meals!
dreamflight6000 Thank you! My husband has been working out and trying to lose weight so that's why we have grilled chicken so much 😆
You guys did a ton of fun things. I'd like to take the kids on the train. That looked fun. I'm glad you didn't get run over by a motorcycle. How scary!
We have done a few of the different train rides they offer. We did the day out with Thomas which was fun but a little expensive! I would love to take the one up to Two Harbors but I don't know if JT would last that long!
