It’s very accurately played, but Boëllmann asks for Fonds et Anches 16 8 4 and certainly not mixtures, which wouldn’t have been anywhere near as bright as those in any case. You’ve got the most French of organs in London at your disposal - do take the opportunity to demonstrate it to its full potential!

I have a very private category of outstanding music pieces: Bach, toccata and fugue in d minor; this piece and the rhapsody in blue by Gershwin.

Well played! When I first heard it played by a serious organist, I was shocked - why is a seious organist playing such rubbish circus music - but then it dawned on me that it is by no means rubbish. It is an outstanding and beautiful piece of music.

Wow! I don't think I've ever heard a recording of Blackburn Cathedral organ that shows it off quite like this. The reeds are so powerful (possibly too powerful tbh) but that really had the wow factor for me. I must get to Blackburn to hear it live.

I've never seen the point of works like this being played in an acoustic that makes them a wash of indistinguishable sounds.

Perfect performance of the Bach Prelude and Fugue in A. The tempo was just as it should be. Such a change from other performances which have been rushed and ruined.
