I was at Lackland in Jan to March of 2000 for basic training and tech school. Dang I feel old! Its nice to see that the accommodations there have improved significantly. I hope you are enjoying your time in the Air Force. I did 11 years and 7 months active duty AF. I had to get out because of depression. I don't regret being in or getting out. Both made me who I am! Thanks for the great video!

Glad you are liking it there. I was there from 92-97. Started off in the 91MSS, then we had a went under the missile squadrons and I went the the 740th. My home away from home was E-1 most of the time.

It's always an honor to meet and greet the military honor guards! I usually give them Challenge coins and take pictures with the group! My first base assignment was overseas at Lajas Field,AZORES’83-84.Don’t really know if we still have a base there anymore?..Still I loved my 15 month tour experience there,everything was great in my SUPPLY SQUADRON,super memories.Back in my early days,people warned me about Minot AFB for the COLD ISOLATED times there,total shithole,!!!Still I hope that you enjoy your first duty station,obviously much different today…Like anything,it’s just what you make it out to be…”WHY NOT MINOT?” was the saying back then…you’ll figure it all out.Take care 👍

Oak Park during the winter is beautiful. The Canadian geese as big as they are noisy, haha! I low-key miss living in the dorms on MAFB. But Rockers should change their hours to weekends 🙃

For driving on or off base always be aware of the road conditions and know what red, yellow, and green means in conjunction with the current road conditions. Always have a set of tire chains in your car so if you have to drive in heavy snowpacks or drifts on the road you will not have any problems. When you mentioned SRT which is Souris River Telephone. The company is member owned when I was stationed there, and they are great! Talking about activities during the seasons and the nightlife there brings back memories. When I was stationed there between 1986 to 1992. The local radio station would always broadcast the 90 days of Summer and I would always laugh and knew what it meant. Wintertime was very special because of Christmas and New Year's. Everybody would come together and celebrate by going to each other's houses and party. The nightlife in the Magic City of Minot can be one of hit or miss. When I was stationed there the Sheraton Inn was the place to be. You had Canadians come down from Canada to party with their American cousins. Places to go were a lot to explore like, the Souris River Wildlife Refuge just a little North of the base. If you are into history, go visit Fort Abraham Lincoln. Do they still have the billboard saying Custer was still alive when he left here? I can go on forever and will say this in closing. It is up to you to make your assignment either a good one or a bad one. If you become lonely, reach out to others because they might be like you. I thank you! Aim High!!!

I’m glad the next generation of Airman are getting to enjoy the new dorms at Minot AFB! I was stationed there in 2004 and the dorms were old and we had to share bathrooms! I was in the dorm right across the street from security forces and right next chow hall! The only thing I miss about Minot is the people I met! I don’t miss the below zero temps or plugging my car in during the winter months 😂
