As a member of the Tasmanian Movies Makers Club, based in Hobart, I have created many varied videos in the last 30 years. I have put some here for any friends and family who are interested.
Athens, our second day
Holiday Video. We rode on the Hop on Hop off bus, we viewed the stadium where the first Modern Olympic games were held, we admired impressive buildings and statues and we walked in the park. The city seemed busy but relaxed.

Holiday Video. It was a warm day and there were LOTS of people. Unfortunately the equipment and disruptions for restoration also detract from a real appreciation of the wonder of the site. But nevertheless a never to be forgotten experience.

Love your caravans - I am a wanderer too and decorated my vardo van gypsy style.
Beautiful artistry. Thank you. 🙏🏽
Thank You for your Video. The Anchor is on the foreshore Nelson Place Williamstown. My Great Grandfather Thom Elliot Mooney (Rating Number 87972) came to Melbourne as Bosnian’s Mate on the on HMS Nelson. In 1920 He claimed he was the Caption for the foretop. So on Boson’s Mates wages when setting the sails. His British Navy records say he was 15 Years old at enlistment but he was 13 years old. His birthdate on his papers says 30-Oct-1857 (1959 in reality). I have his Victorian and Australian Papers, However we lent his Papers to The Historical Security, and when we got them back the English Records were missing. As luck would have it I found the internet in English Navy Records.
Thank you John, for your interesting information. I guess your Great Grandfather would have had some interesting tales to tell!
I enjoyed your video very much! Thank you!!
Thanks for the kind comment..Cheers
Beautiful work. Wonderful talent you both have 😊 I love it ❤️
Great stuff Bro!
Fantastic Basil!!! A great credit to you and your wife.
PPS Soo good I watched this delightful vid three times………….
If I remember correctly Smith is a Roma surname? Possibly have your dna checked and if it shows indian heritage then its probable? Apparently, the Roma language is very close to an indian dialect though name of dialect eludes me at present. The Roma are believed to be derived from a blue eyed, brown skinned travelling, musical and entertaining caste who travelled north for some reason hundreds of years ago and spread up through europe and around the globe for safety and freedom. They were in the uk by at least the 1600’s. And many have ‘settled’ over the centuries and some/many have with time forgotten their heritage. Though their interests, land, horses, looks and bling maybe even Vardas are a ‘give away’…….! Whatever, thank you for sharing your inspiring work. Enjoy PS you may wish to check out the english cockney folk musicians ‘Chas and Dave’ one of them Dave if I remember correctly, was settled Roma (lot of us round London) and his hobby was building and decorating Varda’s/wagons. There is a lot of their music from the eighties and nineties here on yt and a vid about his passion for Varda’s which you might enjoy?
I just wanted cheering up and found your platform! I was immediately uplifted! I too love gypsy caravans, puppets and puppetry. I love it that you and your wife have followed your hearts and lived your dreams to the enth. I feel totally inspired now. Many, many thanks XXXX
I'm an American who moved Down Under after 9 years Army (Vietnam, 2/502 Inf, 101st Airborne) I was building a tear drop as both my wife (an artist and myself...artist) are retired, so our art work has now been just for us and friends.... Fell in love with these vans... I do pin stripping, gold leaf (Since the 60's) and Lead light as a hobby (took a night course at TAFE in the 80's.....your work has made me change our direction and go build a Gypsy Caravan on my frame ...great seeing both their works... Thank you so much.
Gorgeous van and amazing skill work your and your wife 👍🙏
Thanks for the slides
Thanks for a great video. We just paid for this excursions we are taking our first Alaskan cruise this coming summer. We are new subscribers and supporters of your channel. We will look at more videos of your adventure we can't wait to vlog this. Nice job!
Saw my Uncle Yip Yat Sun and his shop and the Boat belonging to my Uncles from Mom's side in the slides also. Brings back childhood memories from when we used to visit the relatives in Namatanai.
Hi Jessy, happy to bring back some memories for you.
Wow how times change. Thanks for sharing photo's of Namatanai in the early days💛
Yes, haven't been back - but view 'New Islanders only' on FaceBook. Looked for my school at Sohun on Google Earth but couldn't locate it - does it still exist?
@@stuarthobson3763 Unfortunately the school does not exist to this day. Currently only two primary system school operating in Namatanai LLG which included Sohun village. Halis primary school next to Halice Spring water and Lahur Primary school right in Namatanai Town leading up to Namatanai old Airport which upgraded and recently reopened for flights after 20 years. Heading to the West coast of Namatanai in the Inland areas located the high school Namatanai Secondary school also known as NSS a current high school in Namatanai LLG and District of New Ireland.
@@newirelandersonly Thanks for taking the trouble to check out the schools in the Namatanai area - certainly things have changed since my time there! There was a small Primary A and a Mission school in Namataniai as I remember. I also remember the opening of the air strip in ... '61 or '62. A Piper Aztec flight came in from Rabaul and we had some small celebrations.
This takes me Back Stuart. Wonderful inlet. Great viewing your video.
Gorgeous. What a bundle of mischief. Lovely to see. Xxx
I love your vans and the fact that your keeping your craft alive using all the old hand tools. It's a pity you can't pass that skill on. Your wife does a fantastic job of the stain glass windows well done to you both. XxKathleen from Greenock Scotland
Thank you for sharing, photos of how New Irelanders were, in the 60s
Very thoughtful video beautifully constructed. A pleasure to watch such work.
Suoer Seen,Nature 🥀✨👌👌👌👌✨🥀
Very Beautyful Place 🥀✨👌✨🥀
Really interesting & well presented, thanks for posting.
Glad you enjoyed it!
In the sixties, where I lived in Spain, gypsy caravans dotted the countryside. They drove horse drawn homes like yours, except they were black.
Stuart, great to see this online. Thanks. Good memories.....a really interesting place. Great to experience that feel and motivation of its members, and the many beautiful items.
Yes, Darron, some good memories indeed! Good to hear from you - where are you now?
Very poor narrator and presentation.
So is the ship still on the bottom?
Well, they didn't design the bridge to take a hit like that. Piers, very heavy supports were not in place and may not be there now. Build to the worst scenario then add more, what is a life worth.
Where was this ?
Hobart, Tasmania,Australia. Opening view from the Botanic Gardens.
May I please go to sleep now?
Sounds like Hazelton got a new job after the Exon Valdez.
Remember as a young boy seeing this as a news item on NZ TV can still see the two cars hanging on the edge of the bridge
Deepest sympathy
Sad story...reminds me of the Silver Bridge collapse in Point Pleasant WV back in the 60's. It happened about fifty miles from where I live. I was very small, but can remember seeing it reported on our old black and white TV. It's one of my earliest memories...along with Bobby Kennedy's assassination, the Moon Landings, the Marshall University football team's plane crash, and the daily scrolls of the names of those killed, captured, or missing in action during the Vietnam War. Kinda strange that we can recall the bad things that happen much easier than we do the good things.
Reminds me of the Tampa, Florida bridge collapse when also struck by a ship 🚢 R.I.P. !!!
@@jimrossi7708 it's sad that we have so many unfortunate, and disastrous, events seared into our brains of senseless events. And yes, RIP to all who have passed.
Very interesting video!👈👍
