UDP video stream from Wifi Quadcopter not decoding properly
Hi everyone,
I was trying to get the video stream from a cheap Quadcopter we bought from amazon. It uses the VS FPV Pro Android App to receive the video stream from it's WiFi cameras. I have written a python script that tells the drone to initiate and keep sending the UDP packets to the port 8888 on my Laptop IP address. I am using ffmpeg on Ubuntu to view the video stream through the ffplay.
The video that I am receiving looks kinda corrupted and I am unable to figure out why as in the Android App the video is clear. It is mostly a decoding problem but I am not sure. If anyone can help please comment or mail me at anish.natekar.20031@iitgoa.ac.in

Once I added an AIO 5.8GHz micro FPV camera to my DIY Raspberry Pi PicoW Copter I could not find any app that would let me control the Quadcopter and receive the live FPV video from an OTG 5.8 GHz USB receiver. I had 4 days of continuous holiday so I got started and now I have a working APP. The video is received and read using the UVC linux driver and displayed on the APP using opengl surface....

In the video, the nodemcu (esp8266 12e) creates a soft access point (Hotspot) which allows any device to access the joysticks hosted on the nodemcu at the IP address (192.168.4.1) using a browser (Mozilla Firefox). Pica sim is a free RC plane flight simulator that can be controlled with an external radio transmitter or joystick and is also available in play store on android. The FlySky fs i6 transmitter is connected to a receiver with a ppm out that is being fed to the Arduino Uno running the Unojoy joystick code and a joystick driver is installed on my windows PC.

    that is a HUGE motor and prop for a tiny trainer, i would reinforce the wings

    this is not how MM TT flies... Why the heck did you think it waws a good idea to use a 10" prop on it??? haven't heard of P factor and torque roll??? Either way, it looked like your plane was tail heavy, severly, and overweight. If you are building a FT plane, always keep the weight as low as possible And invest in better electronics

      Thanks for pointing out all the flaws. I sourced all the materials locally according to what was available while keeping costs low. Didn't realise that the boards I bought will result in a heavy plane. The 10 inch propeller came along with the motor and ESC. I had to make some landing gear because throwing it would not generate enough speed to fly. I learned a lot from this project it's sad that I couldn't enjoy flying it. Keeping weight low is really important for any flying rc plane or Quadcopter is the thing I learned over time.

      @@anishnatekar7283 well, one thing that I learnt is that the more amount you spend on this hobby, the more reliable your builds will be.... My most reliable build cost me around 12k excluding transmission and battery system.... Battery was an extra 5k, and am getting a new transmitter worth 28k soon (hopefully)

      This was actually first attempt at flying it. The PID values were not fine tuned at this stage so that is why it is oscillating. I later changed the PID values in the code and it is really stable.

      I haven't measured it yet. But it is low enough for FPV on a tiny Quadcopter like mine. Will update you once I measure the latency

      On the website I got it from it says less than 100ms. (robu.in/product/5-8g-uvc-otg-android-phone-receiver/) the fps it gives is 30. it is not good for racing but if flying slowly in a large area it works.     Hi I have built this and it is working well. I modified the 3d printed frame to make it lighter and add an on off switch and added 3d printed propeller guards. I have also designed a dual joystick controller for it using a pico w in a 3d printed case. Let me know if you are interested in adding any of these to your project. Paul

      Servo rotation is fixed according to your receiver's voltage. If you want to increase the rotation of flaps due to servo you can try changing the length of the moment arm of the flaps. I.e. the distance from the honge of the flaps to the rod can be shortened to increase the range of motion with the same servo motion.

      I got a steel wire from a local hardware store 1.5 mm diameter and then made the z bends using a plier and cutters.

      I heated the steel wire on my gas stove til red hot and burned a hole through the servo's nylon arm.

    Hi, I am going to make this but more information on construction would be very useful. Some closeups of the top and bottom of the PCB with the components mounted would be helpful. Also re the voltage splitter, I normally use a 1meg and 330k resistor to reduce battery drain. Do you see this as an issue?
