Sybille Muschik's channel devoted to insights into artistic expressions from her Shoreline Studio in British Columbia.
"I grew up in an artistic family. My grandfather’s work was a great inspiration. He fostered a love of plein air painting in me that much later, on numerous camping trips with my family, was finally realized. If I can’t paint on site, I will make quick pencil or pastel sketches. Drawing is an important element in my work. Much of my work has an underlying concept or theme. My environmental interests and unique perspective are evident in my subject matter. Discovering the gell plate has led to many more adventures in printmaking."

Shoreline Studio 103 - Why Sky?
This gel plate tutorial ignores the sky and zooms to the forest floor where a couple of shaggy mane mushrooms popped up out of the forest litter. We enliven the spot with captured sunlight. Starting with a light background print, we develop the theme with a graphite enhanced mask that doubles as a transfer piece. Pulling in Posca pen as well as some brush work, we complete the layers with paint or matte medium. Be sure to watch to the end for the luminous result and other treatments.

Shoreline Studio 102 - Alcohol Inks & Inkjet Transfer
Переглядів 32814 днів тому
Inkjet transfers can be a bit tricky. In this tutorial we go through some trials to find the most effective method to transfer an enhanced inkjet photograph onto the gel plate. The process goes through several types and thicknesses of papers including handmade ones. To set off the print, backgrounds are created on the gel plate with alcohol inks applied with brayers or sponge brushes. The resul...
Shoreline Snippets 53 - Trace Monotype Transfer with Markers

In this tutorial we demonstrate a trace monotype of a yurt with tracing paper and a sharp pencil onto copy paper. The image is transferred to the gel plate and painted in with copic and posca pen markers. Matte medium releases the drawing/painting from the gel plate onto multimedia paper. 💰 DONATE: If you would like to support Shoreline Studio for ART SUPPLIES (and a latte for Josh!), you are w...
Shoreline Snippets 52 - Handmade Paper with Watermarks
Переглядів 164Місяць тому
Handmade paper can have watermarks. We sew the word Peace into screen material so it will show up on handmade paper. After a quick review about the process, we create both round and square paper some of which have watermarks from sewing. As well, we create a star from craft foam and show how to couch the paper onto it, followed by another paper layer like a sandwich. If the paper is really cons...

Good job

Coprinus comatus, Is the proper name. It means shaggy inky cap. When the mushroom pops out of the ground the cap starts splitting creating the shaggy look.
Beautiful lake
So true. Thank you for your comment.
Oops can't count. Fourth fish.
I love that creek in every season! Except when it stinks lol. 😂
Hi Tracy, Love your comment and agree. I'm like a kid enjoying the creek in all the seasons and special times like the trout spawning..
Please show a finished painting ❤
Not quite finished but will post it to Shoreline Studio on my facebook. Thank you for your comment.
I love all of her ptojects
Thank you so much.
love this
Thank you so much
Like I said before, this channel is underrated
Kind of you to say so.
love this. i do it lots
Thank you. I throw in a marbling video every so often. There are several on my channel. Just love how versatile the medium is.
Love the subject and it turned out so well. And it looks like fun. Happy New Year!
Thank you. Good to hear from you. Was a lot of fun. Happy New Year. Post some of your work please. Guess it's hot where you are. -15 right now. Little too cold for snowshoeing for me though.
Hello, I saw a short that showed a print on a plastic transfer paper. Could you tell me what and where I might find that. I am having difficulty with photo transfers with my hp printer that I just bought. A bit frustrated for sure.
There is a special transfer paper. Probably on Amazon. I haven't used it yet. I will send for some and do a future video on it. Stay tuned. In the meantime I have several videos on transferirng ink jet prints easily. One to be published soon. Thank you for your comment.
This channel is underrated
Thank you so much. I imagine you are a cat lover too.
@@sybillemuschikyes I am
Cool are they non editable
These were very old, so definitely not edible. Thanks for your comment.
@sybillemuschik your welcome thank you for reaching out and helping me learn something new God bless
I LOVE the way you did this, your calm manner and the calm way you “rescued” it too. May I ask what medium you used for that “rescue”? Also, was that Strathmore mixed media paper? Thank you 😊 I love your presentation manner (…merrily, merrily merrily merrily, life is but a dream - that bright back so many memories 😆) so much I’m a new subscriber! I’m definitely going to watch whatever other videos you have already posted and look forward to new ones as I start on my own gel plate journey. I’ve only very recently found gel plate printing and have ordered a couple of brayers, lol. I can’t afford to buy a gel plate at the moment so I’m going to try making my own. It looks like SO much FUN!! I’m excited to try it but probably not until after the Christmas now… well, if the brayers arrive sooner maaaaybe….. hahahaha
What a lovely comment. I used Liquitex matte Medium to rescue the left behind paint on the plate. I will post the recipe for hand made gel plates on my facebook Shoreline Studio.
Yes Strathmore Mixed media paper.
Hi Sybille, This is such an exciting video with instructions on how to transfer an inkjet print. But I was a bit confused. Your gel plate appears to have the image of the landscape on it at the start. But when you flipped it over to show us how to register the plate with paper, it also looks like it's a print on paper placed behind the gel plate. Is that right? Thanks for another adventure in printing!
yes, I placed the photo image I was working on underneath so I could follow image. Sometimes an ink jet transfer is on the pale side. This one worked really well. but since I wanted to enhance the print on the gell plate, I needed the reference underneath. I mention it in the description but not in the video and should have. Thank you for your question.
@sybillemuschik Thank you, Sybille. I didn't read the description so as usual I got lost, lol. But this looks like a fun process with lots of room for individuality and experimenting.
Beautiful❤
Thank you.
It is lovely!
Thank you.
very nice
Thanks for your comment.
How is your audio soo good?
We explain our equipment in Shoreline Studio #4. Thank you for your comment and noticing our behind the scenes efforts.
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Romans 10:13) Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. (James 4:4) The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. (Psalms 34:18)
WOW!!! BEAUTIFUL!!!!! Never seen this before. Thank you for sharing!!!
Thank you.
so cool!
I agree
If you go to the supermarket you descover a lot of mushrooms.
Ha. True but usually only one kind.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful little trail.
Absolutely our pleasure. We're having a snow free late fall and discovering the beauty of the forest trails in our area.
I love moss so much so luscious and beautiful
Thanks for your comment. Yes, I love all the mosses we have in abundance here too.
I can’t see the value of using the plate in that case. Why not printing on paper directly ? But I can see it as a first step before adding more layers on the plate before transferring to paper : is it what you were willing to experiment ?
yes, and also you are reversing the print. It creates a slightly different look as well. Adding more layers gives you the opportunity to print the image in colour rather than cutting many more blocks for different colours.
@@sybillemuschik were you using relief print washable ink ? If so, layering would mean waiting way longer for the ink to dry on the gel plate than with acrylic paint, no ?
@@marcopolom Thank you for your insightful comment. On the gell plate if you want to use colour with speedball inks, paint all your areas in colours you want with brush or roll on rainbow rolls then print and no waiting is required. This paint tends dry on paper not on blocks or gel plates. Will try and see how much waiting time is required to print but also I would just register the paper and then print each colour you have applied to the plate. Again no drying time to wait for.
This video relaxed me :)
Thank you.
Thank you for tips on mixing the tricky color sage.
you are welcome. It's quite a challenge isn't it? Hope you had success with the process.
Well that was a challenge just subscribing!!
Thank you Sandy.
UA-cam is showing a great series called Perspective. Several episodes detail some fascinating aspects of the Renaissance for both secular and religious paintings. Look for the use of vermilion in the paintings during the Renaissance and don't forget about the dutch paintings.
Is that Oregon?
These Pinnacles are in Quesnel BC Canada. Do you have some in Oregon? Would love to see a photo if you have one.
Ok went on-line and found some lovely Oregon Pinnacles at Crater Lake. These are far more eroded by the looks of them. Look very sharp. Maybe ours will look like that eventually.
Looks like a peaceful space.
Yes, it's a lovely park with some amazing sandstone formations in the Baker Creek canyon just a few minutes past there.
That’s a nice pink to add into a landscape painting.❤
Thanks for your comment. Yes, a lovely shade of pink.
Supercool 👏👏👏
Thank you -was a fun afternoon.
Fantastic view. It would make a beautiful painting !
Thank you. Good idea. Maybe with the big tree in the front.
What a beautiful view
Thank you. It's spectacular at this time or even any time of year.
Magnificent ❤
yes, a must see thank you.
Does the Lino block plate cause marks on the gel plate? It seems likely, but very interested in this process. Your work is wonderful.
No it doesn't as there are no sharp edges on the lino-block. I'm using a commercial gel plate but even a homemade gel plate shouldn't give you any trouble.Thank you for the question.
@@sybillemuschik thank you.
Another banger of a video keep em coming
Thank you.

very interesting
Thank you.
I also have some fire weed bit its a little more green then that
Thanks for your comment. Must be spectacular when its blooming.
Yes, I did. Thanks. Don't need them growing in my garden. Wild buttercups are bad enough.
