CP Business Class Lounge 18th December 2024. Thank you!
I'd like to ask BA what exactly is "traditional" about 'turkey bacon' for breakfast? Is this another British 'tradition' that is being 'updated for modern audiences'. Yeh! I get it pork will be banned to cater for...
Agree that BA First seat is not a big upgrade from BA Club Suites. Food and service are maybe a bit better. Certainly not worth the hike in price. There are occasional First class deals that are much lower than $6K. Would be more interesting to film the Concorde Lounge rather than a walk from lounge to gate. Sorry to say but the background music was awful.
Thanks for this review. I just booked at a great discount offered by the hotel.
That's great news. You will have a great time. Still one of my favourite hotels in the world.
Very good comparison. I traveled this month with Finnair in premium economy between Helsinki and Tokyo for the outward and return journey and I was very disappointed especially on the return journey by the quality of the food served, especially the starter, the dessert for the main meal but also by the breakfast for the return flight. Even if the seat was ok, I think that next time I will prefer an Asian company to return to Asia in premium economy
Thank you for the great review. We're going to use the CP business lounge in October so this has made it seem even more exciting.
@@Lyces Great, thanks you enjoyed the video. I'm sure you will have a great time.
The music??????
BA have probably some of the best meals I have tasted in the air!
I'm on my third visit to the Concorde Room this year for leisure purposes. I've been using this lounge since 2009 so have seen the many changes throughout the years, but the dining booths and toilets are still the same. I was also lucky to use the Concorde Room in Terminal 4 and also at JFK in Terminal 7. My record for using the lounge is 15.5. hours as I checked in at 5am when it opens and usually get the place to myself for at least 15 minutes. It's an also a great place to spot a celebrity. I'm glad that the cabanas have now re-opened having being closed for 4 years. The food and drink in the lounge is fantastic and you can continue the drinks theme in the First cabin.
Dreadful music, awful commentary and camera work. You need a new line of work.
I agree! There should be a separate was for first to get to the gate.
Clickbait. As a tier point runner if you pay $6000 for first you are doing something wrong. I paid £2200 and £3100 the latter being a ticket to Cancun both originating in London.
The lounge is fantastic and I've been lucky enough to see it almost completely empty and enjoy brunch and the dinning next to the nose cone, before my connecting flight. Shame this wasn't touched on in the video, but it's some of the most comfortable seating I've ever come across in a lounge anywhere in the world. I flew First from LAX, and the BA/Quantas lounge wasn't a patch on the Concorde Room, although JFK was excellent and matches Heathrow T5's quality). The terrace couches are the same, extremely comfortable and the staff served me instantly rather than have to go up to the union coffee bar to get a coffee - they also have a great selection of teas that the staff will also serve to you at your table (regardless of this being a comfy sofa, or at one of the tables next to the nose cone). The bar is staffed by friendly bar tenders and I still haven't come across a cocktail they won't make on request. The other thing that's a huge plus is getting rid of your luggage while you're there - you'll get a wooden (occasionally plastic) fob, so if you want to go shopping in the excellent duty free around T5, just walk through Millionaires Door (looking like a boss), and get ready to shop baggage free (except anything you come back with of course, but you can just drop that in the luggage storage). Impressively, even though I arrived at 5am, the lounge was fully staffed. By it's nature it's never busy - that due to the incredibly few BA Premier Club and Gold Guest List members as well as having 8 seats per flight that are first class. Sadly it's the transitions like to the aircraft where you'll leave your bubble of First tranquility. There will be a few flights that have to take the dreaded shuttle bus, and as noted in the video, there's no Elmis Spa. Given British Airways' massive renovations underway, maybe this will come back in some form and better sleeping facilities than the pods, but overall, a big jump in comfort than the First Lounge (yes the Concorde Room is the true first class lounge, but the First Lounge at Heathrow is still a little step up from Business, which was already a good lounge) this is available to BA Gold members, who get to use the wing and there's numerous videos online showing how quick and seamless it is to breeze through the First Wing check in and security check, which comes with far more updated scanners that don't require you to take your liquids or electronics out of your bag. Although I'm not sure she'll appreciate being filmed, the woman sleeping on the couches pretty much sum up the place.
Great video to show the overall facility of the lounge. Going to fly soon and cant wait to visit this lounge
Too full for some Cheese & Port? Food looked good however. Still a grail to travel First while it is still around.
Why u need more power points? U can use only one equickment same time? Mobile or laptop.
We just love this lounge. As the wife & myself are both GGL we get to use this lounge even when flying coach. Drink selection is great and the dining is devine. We always try to get a seat on the terrace before dining. Is there a better lounge I don't know.
You are both very lucky, GGL is a long way out of my reach unfortunately. So glad you like the concorde room. I just was expecting more, but then that is my expectations
Cathay Pacific lounges
May I know which first class lounge is the best in terms of special facilities ? Like sauna in front of the airport
Great to see my homeland featured in your video.
Thank you for the comment. Love all my time in Scotland, stunning place. I would really love to do the NC500 on a motorbike, at some point!
🎉😮h
Hello. I noticed your seat was 23A on Premium Economy. How much of a recline were you able to get being that there is a wall behind you? I'm currently booking a flight to Helsinki and wondering if I should go with seat 23C so that there is no one behind me or seat 21 for the extra leg room. Thanks!
Hi, that's for the comment. That is the same reason I book that seat, as far as I could tell, the recline was as much as all the others, so no real restriction. I hope this helps, I liked the seat and I love flying with Finnair
@@luxurytripreports Thanks! This helped a lot in my decision. Cheers!
Thanks for the upload. As someone whose business is hospitality, I know the personal contact/attention is vital. Automatic check in is a negative. I’d rate this hotel a decent but not special 4* Btw. Visitors don’t consider the “City” as the centre of London. In fact the vast majority don’t even get to that area. If you’re not a local the actual term “City” is very confusing.😁
Do you get access to the club room if you have a Deluxe Room ?
I don't believe you do. But I would always suggest contacting the hotel. They may sell access to the club room
Thanks , it closes quite early in evening.
Thanks that was a very enjoyable video 👍
Thanks 👍
Thanks for sharing. Qantas rather than Quantas FYI
Thanks so much for pointing it out. Can't go in and change now, but i appreciate it
I actually prefer the old business class seat to the new “no recline” seat. I found it more comfortable.
i would have loved to have got in to the throne seat that Finnair still do, but this was a last minute upgrade! Really appreciate the comment
Good video. So 2x(40+140+140+140) TPs = 920 in total. £1.32 per TP is excellent value! Of course there's additional costs - positioning to/from Budapest, hotels/food etc. but even so, still very good value. Post-Covid the benchmark seems to be around £2/TP just for flights. As for AA etc, I find it ridiculous that internal flights of 6 hours in "First" don't give lounge access! And the FAs...well can be pleasant, can be miserable. Whereas BA FAs are, in my experience, always top notch.
I cannot agree with you more. I had some really surely FA's on AA, but BA were excellent. And yes your TP calculation was correct. i had already had a few other flights taken, so got gold a few weeks after the trip. I'm currently planning a new run for next October, which should be a really interesting one. So glad you enjoyed the video, hopefully i'll keep you interested with all my new ones 🙂
LUXURY TRIP REPORTS...WHAT A JOKE. Just another ignorant/'only here to make money' UA-camr. When you could not be bothered doing BASIC research with the spelling of QANTAS I immediately stopped viewing.
I find this video very strange indeed. At the beginning of the video you show an aircraft bearing the Malev livery. This airline ceased operating in 2012. For me, you have lsot all credibility now.
I'm so sorry you feel that way. The Aircraft was from a soviet era museum that is based in Budapest, that is why i had it in the video. Its also a classic older plane that some people would like to see. I do hope you would reconsider my videos as I'm only trying to inform and entertain 🙂
Thanks for the review, shame you didn’t show the food offering from the table service
Thanks for the comment, unfortunately I was in there very early and they weren't fully up and running. Hope to get back there at a more reasonable time and see what the dining is like.
Great video. I love it when travel videos are comprehensive and focus on the travel bit. Subbed and looking forward to binging the rest of your vids!
Thank you so much for your comment. I really hope I can make some videos that you wll enjoy. I'm just back from a trip on the Calendoan sleeper, so I hope that will be as good as this one 🙂
@@luxurytripreports Looking forward to it! I took it up to Ft William a few weeks ago and loved it.
I’ve travelled from Paddington to Cornwall on the sleeper and was most impressed, very comfortable, a nice cocktail bar and simple but adequate breakfast. Highly recommend it as it’s half the cost of a budget hotel in London.
Totally agree I'm going on the other night train next week and honestly wished more people would at least try them, as they are great ways to travel. 🙂
I love the Night Riviera, but the journey is too short. Boarding at 10:30 and woken for breakfast at 6:30. They need to go via Cardiff or something.
Totally agree, would allow them more revenue and open up another part of the country.@@Mat-eq8mk
I am planning a trip to London in 2024 and have been strongly considering Hotel 41. Do you think it is a good choice for a first time visitor to the city? I like the smaller, boutique hotels, that have excellent customer service. I thought this particular spot might be a good choice.
Yes, definitely
@@luxurytripreports Thank you so much for the response!
Sad to see Concorde left to rot at the end of the runway rather than on display & a status symbol for what BA once was.
Would love them to move it closer to T5 and setup a tour, like at brooklands. BA are rightly proud of the Concord room with the nose cone, so why not the whole plane!
what was the cost of the run in the end?
Thanks for the comment I booked using an online travel agent, who were excellent. The total price for booking including their fees was £1217, which works out at £1.32 per point. Trying to do that now is nearly impossible, although I am trying!
@@luxurytripreports that’s brilliant! Definitely going to look into this route 👍🙏
Forgot to subscribe. I have now 🙂
I remember when an excellent TP run was available for £1000 to Maui. Sadly, those days are long gone
Totally agree, I'm pricing up one for my renewal next year and it's so much more now. Thanks for the comment
Great video 😊
Thanks Gary. Really enjoyed that one. would suggest everyone give it a go 🙂
Recently travelled on the sleeper from padd to Penzance a great trip a really great way to travel
Thanks for the upload. I have to say that hotel totally underwhelms me. The roof terrace is very small and boring. I guess it was the service that impressed you most and of course I can’t comment on that. It’s obviously got something going for it hence the good reviews.
Thats totally understandable, as all these reviews are subjective. But you are totally correct, it was the service that made the place stand out. The staff all seemed to really want to be there, rather than it just being a job. thanks for your comment, I honestly appreciate it 🙂
Flagship dining at LAX closed during Covid ;)
Yes indeed Scott, still closed but hoping it opens up soon. I should have remarked on it, but felt longer term it will be more fitting.
Was that Tupolev TU-154 at 1:23 a museum Piece, since Malev Airlines no longer exists?
Yes indeed it was. They were moving it from a display area i believe, as there is a wonderful aviation musium at Budapest airport. Quite a few Soviet era planes on display there
I stayed here last week. Great hotel.
which room did you stay in?
