    That twist. During the final episode I wondered if the cousler was involved in some kind of death but figured it was a second death mystery.

    I pretty much called the possession by like episode 4 but I was like how far are we taking the supernatural elements? I was like she can't remember her death because technically she's not dead and Janet has her body. There were a couple things that made me doubt, thinking it was the head trauma may have erased her memories, but that blood splatter didn't seem like it was from a hit that would have killed a person. I'm so happy they put this on Netflix but may get a subscription when season 2 drops!

    Goodbye Iowa a very average episode, but sets up the later half of S4 now we have established that Walsh was planning something very sinister with her creation Adam, and not only experimenting on the HSTs, but also the Commandos of The Initiative, as Riley is having symptoms of poisoning. Some great little comedy moments with Xander again, and of course to homage to the original Frankenstein when Adam meets the child.

    Buffy judging a cartoon on whether or not it would happen was ahead of its time. The Internet just does things like thatat now. 🤣 So, Giles is in his 40's and gets the bean bag while the teenagers get the bed"? ☹🙁😟😕🤢🤮🥴

    I don't think Buffy was being inconsiderate or unsympathetic when Willow came up to Buffy and Riley - I think Buffy was in the impression that Willow was on the road to recovery but didnt recognize thst Willow was really in denial about Oz leaving and them being broken up. I think Willow was still holding on - after all, he still loves her. But him coming back and not telling her retriggered her and made her face up to reality, and that's what Buffy doesn't understand.

    Notice that when Buffy & Riley are sharing a morning after moment in the not-so-intimate room with the hidden nanny-cam, Buffy asks Riley What’s 314? and the phone rings immediately before he can respond.

    7:16 I would say the training scene at the start of the episode _is_ the Initiative experimenting with Buffy. Walsh wanted to know what would be necessary to capture Buffy, and based on her performance, Walsh decided that capture would be too difficult, moving to murder instead.

    CLC, is there any chance you can boost the volume in your videos, by chance? This is honestly almost impossible to hear, even with both my speaker and system volumes at 100%. I'm not *just* talking about the show itself, but the volume of your commentary as well. These are some of the quietest videos I've ever seen. Thanks! And welcome back.

    I would have liked Walsh to be the Big Bad, or at least stick around for a little longer (assuming she is reely dead, in Buffy you can never be too sure). She had a lot of gravitas, which this season needs.

  • @killianlpc

    The I In Team shows us Prof Walsh's real intent revealed. We also see Willow suspecting that not all is well with The Initiative. Spike of course is gradually beginning to rely on The Scoobies, and they can use him as an ally too, but at this point do we trust him. At the end Adam of course stabs Walsh clean through with his arm spear and says 'mummy', we are not too upset by this after she set up Buffy to die, and spied on Buffy and Riley having sex. Obviously Adam is a homage to the Frankenstein type monster the secret of 314. We see the Willow/Tara relationship start to build, and also the Anya/Xander one too which is comedy gold, revealing all their intimate secrets.

      Well, by definition, only one episode can be the greatest in the series, but that doesn't mean that this is a bad one, far from it.

    17? That's a relatively busy week or a really slow month for Buffy. And I'll lay odds that Walsh's dig at Giles was deliberate manipulation.

    "If you weren't so self involved, you'd understand that." Tell me you don't understand Buffy without saying you don't understand Buffy. Riley lost me with that line.

    "Buffy Summers, Class Protector" The absolute most heartwarming moment of the entire season. And i always tear up, no matter how many times i watch it.

  • @coldservings

    Quentin firing Giles, particularly for the reason given, may be the one thing that saved Buffy and Giles' relationship. I found myself developing an immediate hatred for the council here. Frankly, i consider them evil. They may fight evil, but that doesn't stop them from being so. As others habe mentioned, this test will generally give them a younger, more compliant, slayer. If not, they've got a traumatized slayer terrified of what else the council might do to them.

  • @coldservings
    @coldservings 10 місяців тому

    This "intervention" is why she held kept it from them. She had no reason to expect a better reaction, particularly after Dead Man's Party. And here's Xander going full toxic...again.

  • @coldservings
    @coldservings 10 місяців тому

    Generally, the best episodes are also the most painful. There are exceptions, but that's the general trend. "You need help" "I'm not crazy." And that, right there, is why Buffy didn't tell her mother. That's even after seeing a vampire dusted. Or back in "Ted": "You'll spend your best dating years behind the walls of a mental institution." Buffy had very good reason not to tell her mother. And this two-parter is whe Xander in my mind changed from a decent, if flawed, person to an asshole who occasionally had his moments. Between his attack on Buffy when they found the spell and lying about Willow's message, I was just never able to fully put that aside and it always colored my attitude toward him afterwards. YMMV of course.

    I just watched the entirety of Season 1 on Netflix. I was discussing what the future of Maddie and Wally's relationship might look like going into Season 2 and Season 3. User LadyMRedd posted her theory below: "Season 2 is all about Maddie getting her body back. Meanwhile Maddie and Wally get closer, culminating in them having [intimate relations] in the second to last episode (i.e. as Maddie asked Rhonda if ghosts can have [intimate relations]). It’s very sweet and beautiful, and then in the season finale, Maddie gets her body back. She’s torn about taking that final step, because she finally found something with Wally, and doesn’t know if she’ll be able to even see him after that. Wally is devastated, but super supportive. Of course she must get her body back, and live her life, so she does. Big reveal after she has her body back: She can still see dead people, and with that, the credits roll. Season 3 has Maddie dealing with suddenly having her body back. Plus, now she realizes she can still see the dead people, so she becomes like a real Mr. Martin, and helps ghosts move on. Meanwhile, she and Wally are able to hang out, but not touch. It’s frustrating for both of them. She and Simon are platonic and stay that way, but there is a new character that becomes a love interest, and she feels guilty. Wally is still there, and he was her first, but clearly there is no future. Wally figures out what’s going on, and encourages her to live her life. Season finale: She helps Wally pass on." My personal theory is that Rhonda, Charley, and Wally may not actually haunting the school itself, but the objects that Mr. Martin collected and had hidden in the bunker, or their spirits are somehow attached to these objects. I think that, if the objects were taken off-campus, it might allow the ghosts to leave Split River High School for the first time in decades. We see Maddie's necklace featured a lot in Season 1, so I'm thinking that maybe Maddie can attach her spirit to the necklace, or somehow possess an object, so that Simon (or Xavier, because his head injury might make him able to see ghosts now, too) can take Maddie with him to hunt down Janet and Maddie's body. There are so many fan theories about Season 2.
