I was in the Army from August 02, 1965, through April 10, 1969. From Memorial Day weekend, 1966 through November 03, 1966, when I was commissioned, I was in the Signal Corps Officer Candidate School at Fort Gordon, GA. Our day was controlled, or guided, by bugle calls. It was quite an experience. If you happened to pull Duty Officer at night for the School you were responsible for playing the appropriate calls, from a record, at the correct time. They were broadcast over speakers throughout the area.

I served in Peacetime....I heard this bugle every day when stationed in West Germany...any where you were, you were expected to stand at attention and wait until the song was done...What happenned to our country? that we allow foreigners to invade our county and burn our god forsaken flag....the meaning of our freedom...

"To The Colors" As bugler for my Boy Scout troop, I used to play this at morning flag raising. It was my favorite call. In the US Military, if outdoors when you heard this call being played, you were to stop, come to attention, face the flag, and salute (or salute in the direction of the call if the flag was not visible). You were to hold the salute until the call was completed. This is still a standing order in all branches of US military service.
