So not the same truck but..I had a 2026 5.3. I replaced the thermostat, temp sensor and even drilled a bypass into the thermostat. I ended up putting a tuner on and was watching the coolant temps. Turns out my gauge needle was off. Temp was fine the whole time. I took the cluster out and fixed the needle position.

I'm seeing this a lot with newer cars and truck's.. The crazy part is they are using way more oil than they used too and they are still running super hot.. I have a Mustang GT and I am always checking my cylinder Head Temps. Thank God I don't have issues like I see other people having who live south western areas. Like if you have a sport car and live in Texas or Florida you almost have to have an oil cooler and trans oil cooler if you are hard on it especially..

The engine has 4 thermostats I believe and if 1 zone is too cool it will do this to bring extra heat to that zone then go back to normal. It is completely normal

Tons of cars run 220-230 coolant temps, most of them lie to you about so you don't think it's running hot. My Audi says 196f on the display at all times (fixed, never moves after coming up to temp), log the data from the ECU it says about 220-225. Ecu is live data, dash is false data to make clueless drivers feel good. If you want to hit MPG and emissions targets, you have to run hot.

Is this the system with the regen/cleaning burn? Possibly heating and cooling as it cycles through...so, normal?

220F so slightly above the temperature water boils because it is under pressure. Seems normal to me.

Its doing its dpf regeneration as you drive. I'm not good at technical terms but basically the exhaust valve opens into were the dpf filters are and super heats them to about 1500°f allowing the particles to burn off. This makes the engine temp go up and come back down gradually about 4-6 times before shutting off. Its perfectly normal. No worries

You would run hot to recirculating your oxygen into you lungs and use a straw for breathing because your breath stinks just a tiny bit.

210 is not that hot.... My truck runs at 240 but the gauge goes up to 320. Bad design on the range for the coolant.

Usually the temperature needle stays in the middle. Look up your cars operating temperature.
