I was in Macon recently, visiting family on vacation. Took my nephew there for his birthday, as well as his girlfriend and my husband. I go to The Rookery every time I go 'home" to Macon. Great food and great prices!

Looking forward to a visit in September.

My great grandfather partly ran this in 1919-1950s and I have his electric card to be able to run the lights I assume. I have all the information in my family book. George Travis Powell Sr. - my 2nd Great Grandfather was famus pastor Stephen Baker from England who preached at 1st Baptist next to St. Joseph where Powell went. So everytime someone played here he got their signed photo of the actress or actors and singers, etc. My great aunt had all of these in a book and made it on TV to show case the value of the book. I remember looking at it a lot when she lived with me before she died at 100 years old. Because George Powell was a Catholic at St. Jospesh and his wife Dorothy Baker was the daughter of 1st Baptist preacher - he never spoke to her again when they got married - But I have pictures in family book written by his son with same name which are at the Washington Library Achives of George Travis Powell Jr. He moved from Atlanta from the famous founders Champon Powell and Elizabeth Hardman of Emory University land today and Peachtree and Ellis in downtown - the Powell cabin is at Stone Mountain park as the first house of Atlanta - yet the reason my Powell family moved there was because of George;s job at this place. I believe the Electric Card was for someone who put on shows and had to have a license to do it. He lived on Arlington Place near the Allman Brothers earlier house yet the rest of his kids lived across from Sidney Lanier Cottage on High Street the brick home and many more from that street with the one that burned at 974.

My 3rd Great Grandfather Richard Woolfolk family is buried here after 1887 Woolfolk Massacre - I am a direct ink to him by my mother - by the daughter Lillie Moore Woolfolk Woolfolk (Cowan) who is buried next to them on Honeysuckle of Riverside Cem with her husband Henry Phelps Cowan which two streets across Spring Street bridge near fort Hawkins are named after. So many family is buried here and I use to live on High Street and would come here to relax. Now on Oregon Coast, and I miss this place, Lillie and Floride lived in Hawkinsville at the time and were not murdered - Tom the one accused their brother is buried next to Floride Shackleford in Hawkinsville behind his grave. Thomas Jefferson Woolfolk his father my 4th Great Grandfather with our cousin Mr. Bibb are the founders of Macon, Georgia. Bibb went to Alabama along with many of the Woolfolks who ended up in Columbus Georgia on border of Alabama where that Woolfolk house is said to be haunted.

My 4th Great Grandfather Thomas Jefferson Woolfolk one of the founders of Macon with my cousin Mr. Bibb as in Bibb County. He passed the land down to my 2nd Great Grandmother Lilian Woolfolk Cowan who married Henry Phelps Cowan which two streets over there are named after them as they owned Fort Hawkins as well and half of Hawkinsville Georgia. Her father and rest of family was in the 1887 Woolfolk Massacre land now Lake Tobeesokee, who is my 3rd Great Grandfather Richard Woolfolk - Lilian's brother accused and sister Flor are buried in Hawkinsville. Yet with the Duncan family I believe they owned the Indian Mounds and at her death I believe in 1936 is when they took the land over to dig into the mounds and create the park.The land crossed the river and went as far as Polpar street and Martin Luther King Blvd to what would be Krogers on Spring Street to Indian Mounds and Fort Hawkins.

This is always a fun time of year! This year was my first time experiencing the Macon Pops live performance called the Christmas Spectacular! Great show and a perfect kickoff to the Christmas Light Extravaganza! I really enjoyed the music, the dancing lights, and the multiple photo opportunities with magnificent light installments! You can create your Christmas card out there! The Christmas Light Extravaganza gets better every year!
