Hello and welcome to my channel!
At Crafty Wee Blackbird. I create mostly Quilled Art Frames and Greetings Cards but don't be surprised if I throw in something different from time to time.
I started this new venture back in May 2020. I have been saying for years that I would love to set up on my own selling my crafty makes, whatever they may be. Here I will be uploading time-lapse videos of my quilled frames as well as quilling related tutorials
You may be thinking, "What is Paper Quilling?"
Quilling is an art form that involves the use of strips of paper that are rolled, shaped, and glued together to create decorative designs.

Excellent tutorial! Thank you! Great job!
Thank you. I need a lot of practice. You make it look easy.
Unfortunately, patience is something you do need to be able to quill as everything takes time. But we all adapt and learn to love quilling for the fantastic art form it is 💗
So beautiful Angel ,how much you charge for the angels?thanks
Thank you! I'm not currently selling them but when I do they are usually around £10.00 each
Love this! Thank you!
I'm so glad you enjoyed it 😁💗
Que belleza de angelitos me encanta 💖 😊
Thank you so very much ❤️
Very sweet. Thank you.
You're very welcome 🤗
Beautiful! I'm going to make one soon. I need to get the gold paper. Can't wait!
Looking forward to seeing your angels. Do you know where to purchase the gold strips? I can suggest if you need help ☺️
Wow this is soo creative and beautiful keep it up and merry Christmas 🎉❤❤
Thank you so much - I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Merry Christmas to you also ❤️
You made the spirals in the teardrops look easy. I tried another tutorial on creating spirals, but all I did was waste paper and frustrate myself. I sent your video to myself so I can review it when I’m ready to try again. The snowflake is beautiful.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it and we're able to learn something. It all takes time and practice, but all worth it in the end 💗
This is exactly what i was looking for in a quilling tutorial! Thank you so much ❤
You are so very welcome 😁💗
Great job! I just started quilting & you made it look so easy. Keep up the good work!
Thank you so much 🙏🏻😊
❤
I've just started quilling so I don't have a lot of information. This is a beautiful snowflake and I'm wondering if I make it in 3 mm wide strips what I need to make any other adjustments?
Hi there! You certainly can make it in 3mm width strips but I fear it would be a rather delicate snowflake once assembled. But do let me know how you get on should you make it - you can join my Facebook group THE QUILLING CIRCLE where I help quillers by sharing my knowledge 💗
@@craftyweeblackbird thank you so much! I will definitely do that.
@KimberBeckham I only have 3mm strips as well. When I've made two designs in the past I used spray glue to stiffen and stablize the snowflake. It takes a LONG time and a lot of layers of glue 😅
@@ColieBear18 I discovered a product called judikins diamond coat sorry if that is spelled wrong. I tried painting it on with a brush as some people do. It was very awkward didn't work very well. So I put it in a small spray bottle added about an equal amount of water. It worked perfectly to stiffen them and in essence protect them from coming apart at any point.
Lovely!
Thank you 😊
Beautiful
Thank you so much 🩷
Hermoso trabajo. ❤
💗💗
Hi, what country are you in? If the USA...where do you order your white/10mm x 17cm quilling paper? (and is it acid free/archival/colorfast?) Are you using a heavier stock or regular quilling paper? I'm only asking because I had ordered some off amazon and was pretty unhappy with the quality...so I'm looking for a good source of ordering larger amounts of specific colors, vs multi color sets. Thank you and awesome job on your first video!
Hi there, I am from Scotland. My strips are 17 inch long and 10mm wide. They are approx. 110-140gsm in weight. I buy them from Katy Sue Designs in the UK.
Very clear directions thank you! And I love being told "a wee push" - delightful!
Ahaha, I guess my scottishness comes out when I speak haha 😆
This is a fantastic tutorial, I learned so much! Thank you for teaching😀
I'm so glad you enjoyed and learned something ☺️
This was so helpful! Thank you for this amazing tutorial.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it 😊
Really enjoyed that, easy to follow and looks amazing. You are a great tutor as you took your time explaining and didn't assume we knew what things meant/were called. Loved all the tips and tricks. Can't wait to have a go! Can you tell us where you purchased the papers and gems please?
Awwww thank you for such a sweet comment! I am so glad you enjoyed it 😁 The papers are from Katy Sue Designs Crafts and the gems I got on eBay.
Wow Thank You I learnt a lot
I'm so glad you enjoyed and learned something 😀
Спасибо большое! У меня никак не получалось, но Ваш туториал дал понять, как правильно это делать :)

Beautiful! *adds husking board to supplies list and subscribes* 😁
Amazing! Thank you so much 🙏🏻💗
Genial😍
Thank you 🙏🏻😊
Could you tell us where you got your fringer from and its cost to please. Loved your wee video ❤😊
Absolutely! It's an Australian company so quite pricey - Johnathan Mayne
Oh and it was $99 AUS which is around £57 I think
This definitely doesn’t seem like your first video! I watched because I think the snowflake is beautiful, I was struck by the beautiful quality of the teardrops and because I’m also exploring the husking board. It offers so many possibilities, nu? I watched the portion showing how you spread out the coils for the teardrops three times and am looking forward to trying it out for myself. As a suggestion, instead of showing the next 5 teardrops being made at high speed, your could consider demonstrating your technique again on a second teardrop and then just making the remaining four off camera. When you started the piece on the husking board I was gobsmacked at your gluing technique for the first round. What a creative way to start! It means you don’t have to make that tiny circle around the first post that so many people show. (And that I can’t do with any success….). This approach will make a huge difference for me, in the appearance of my work. The third Ah Ha!! moment for me was when you showed how you place the glue on the teardrops when you attached them to the center tight coil. Such a simple idea to leave margins at the edges. This tip alone will make my work so much tidier. Thank you. So far I’m working just with 3mm wide strips because that’s readily available where I live. I’m going to have to take a look online for 10mm strips. Thank you for sharing your creativity so generously. Part of the fun of the UA-cam quilling community is coming across folks such as yourself. Be well.
Awwww, thank you so much for your comment and suggestions. Yes, this is in fact my very first tutorial. I'm currently working on a 2nd which should hopefully be coming very soon. I'm so glad you found some useful tips and tricks from my videos. There is no wrong or right way with quilling it's all about finding ways that work for you 🥰
Thank you ❤they are pretty good jop😊
Thank you 🩵🤍
Absolutely GORGEOUS! Your tutorial was so easy to follow. I’m looking forward to more videos. 😊
I'm so glad you enjoyed!
Très jolie bravo 👏
Thank you 😊
They are beautiful 😊
Thank you so much 🙏🏻❄️
Beautiful snowflake, great tutorial Thank you :)
I'm so glad you enjoyed it 😁
Love the tutorial and your work :) Love it that you talk length of strip used and GSM of paper so many don't . Clare, I also like the inner coil rotation.
I'm so glad you appreciated my tutorial! I really have to remember to mention the paper used in each video as you're not the first to mention this. Spinning the coil from the centre really does have a cleaner finish to your coil 💗
Great lesson. Looks great!
I'm glad you enjoyed! 😁
I love your tutorials. Can you please tell us what size hole shaper you're putting your coil into?
Hello, thank you so much! I am using 17" long strips in the size 13 circle 😁

Thank you so very much. I'm not the best at speaking and fumble over words but I hope I'll get better with time. This shade of blue is Sky Blue by Katy Sue Designs 🩵
