Veteran Guitarist's First Jam on Orange Thunderverb Amp
In this video, I walk you through how I dial in the Orange Thunderverb amp and effects pedals for a unique tone while the guitarist plays live. It’s his and my first time on this amp, and I adjust the settings on the fly to match his style, giving him more inspiration as he plays. Many of my tuning skills and tricks come into play for this one. From tweaking the overdrive to balancing reverb and gain, I bring you along as I dial in each step. The Boss EQ200 saves the day again dialing in an unfamiliar amplifier. Whether you're a fan of Orange amps or just want tips for live sound adjustments, this is a session you won’t want to miss!

      @gearly_beloved 4 дні тому

      I hope it's not too hard. I'm hoping it's just a capacitor or small component that is easily replaced. I'll tear into it eventually to see what happened on the inside. I totally got my moneys worth, it's been around forever lol. If enough people want to see me tear into it I'd be happy to do so.

Later years had effects loops and toned down the edges if you ask me and ive owned about 7 total over the years . The heads are fantastic through a Marshall cab.

    Can i use this for my studio recording sessions

    • @gearly_beloved
      @gearly_beloved 9 днів тому

      Yes you can, all channels can be multi tracked to your daw of choice. Now as far as studio sessions and setup just be mindful of what outboard gear you might want to use. Decide if you want to use outboard preamps or eq’s, or will re-amp for specific textures and tones. Or will you put them in the chain before the mixer to capture it on the way in. Both are acceptable options. Re-amping can save cash on equipment, because you don’t need to have several of the same preamps. You can individually send to preamp after recording it “dry”. Plugins are also a great way to utilize the ui24 in the studio. Along with the built in effects there are unlimited plugins for different applications as well tone shaping nuances. I hope this helps let me know if you have any further questions. I’m always happy to help. Thanks for the comment.

    Hi, Im interested in purchase this unit and I’m hesitant because it’s been some time since it was released and I’m worried about how much updates and support will it have for how many years to come. This tells me that they’re still supporting the unit, however, do you think it is still a good purchase in 2024? I’ve seen a newer Allen and Heath option released just 1 year ago, but it doesn’t have real subgroups. So I’m thinking which might be the best option in 2024 and how much life the ui24r has ahead? Thanks in advance!

      I love the ui24 and have used it at many gigs and running many shows fully off of it. The biggest contender is the Behringer x32 air which is expandable. Or you can drop the cash on a Midas 32 and get nicer preamps and routing options. I recommend one of these 3 options as they are all tour proven! I did not catch it in the headphones at the studio. All sound on the channel is live capture. I rarely have time for reworks in post. I should have individually bus tracked out, then I could have just hit phase reversal in post. Unfortunately I did not and just used L&R xlr out to my camera. I have now started to implement Daw recordings slowly. As I get more comfortable with new software I will be able to avoid in the future. Luckily you can still hear relevant changes in the tone. @@higstravels You should be able to go into the setting menu under the global section. You will change the “headphones out” to *aux instead of Master/Solo. That way when you go into your Aux sends you will have individual output controls with a little more gain. You can also try hitting the UI at the top right of the mixer display and hit the “aux masters” button and access the independent volume slider for headphone volume. At least that’s how it works on the ui24. Not all of the functions are the exact same. Let me know if you get stuck I can try and do a quick short on it. (Unless Im running the camera, then you definitely want me up there!) I have always preferred having way more talented musicians play while I dial in the tone. It is more fun for me that way. I get to watch their eyes light up when they hear the tone of their dreams seemingly for the first time. It's a magical moment for me and for them. So calling all players if you have a clean guitar track you want me to dial tones for. Please send a google drive link to the gearlybelovedchannel@gmail.com I would love to re amp the signal and dial tones for how you play. This will in turn give you a better idea on how the amp will sound for how you play specifically. My skills at dialing in tones and my being a goofball on the internet only have slight similarities. Hit me up this will be a great first test in a series I've been wanting to do for a long time.

      It's definitely not that high pitch so 7k-8k is usually rolled off. You are correct thanks for bringing that to all of our attention. Thanks for the save. (Nobody's perfect including me lol) I notch 800 because that is where all the mud and noise in the setup is. That has more to do with my camera preamp than anything. Live settings can also take advantage of notching 800 in the vocals to leave room for toms and bass upper end clarity. that way nobody is stepping on toes in the mix.

    This item can loop or patch in a external device?

    • @gearly_beloved
      @gearly_beloved 5 місяців тому

      What kind of device do you want to patch in? That will determine your signal path. You have 8 aux outs and you can use them as you see fit. It has so much in it already so external is not as common, but in certain situations external gear takes it to another level of function and sound.

    I’m running the yo 24r and I’m using individual mixes with the aux outputs but they aren’t pound enough?

    • @gearly_beloved
      @gearly_beloved 5 місяців тому

      I'm not sure 100% what you are asking but I'll take a stab at it. If you're doing individual mixes out and the volume is not loud enough. It's probably a gain staging thing or the levels are not mixed properly. I'd love to dive in further but I need more context please. Can you send a screen recording of you running through how you have it set up in the ui24? If not a simple phone recording showing how you route everything to give me a better idea what the trouble is. Thanks for reaching out.

    I’d disagree. Yes the same amp would be better, but biasing can also affect it just as much. So having the same circuit and the tone changed exactly how I thought it would. I think I gave it a fair shake. KT88 have extra attack on the low end and that came across in spades. I’d be happy to revisit the video with the same exact amp. If there is 20 or so comments saying they want another video… I’m in.

    I really hope BAD makes a SLO version of the IR-X. I'm not sure really how their corporation is structured. I thought BAD was just a manufacturing, and distributing company. It seems like the new Soldano Astro amp is using the same power amp, and IR digital tech as the IR-X though. So it's entirely possible that we may see an SLO IR-X box someday.
