Everything about this scene is wrong. Plane is not a Piper Comanche. Patsy Cline and Hawkshaw Hawkins are known to have been setting in back seats, Patsy behind pilot Randy Hughes. Hughes who developed vertigo was flying after sunset in very poor visibility weather when he crashed the plane. Plane did not hit a mountain side, it went down in a wooded area, its propeller striking tree tops, wing hitting a tree before slamming into ground where it made an impact crater.

Patsy Cline was one of a rare handful of singers whose vocal recordings will be played forever. Other names that spring to my mind immediately are Piaf, Billie Holiday, Aretha...we all have our favorites. Patsy's vocals miraculously touch the hearts of absolutely everyone no matter age creed color whatever or whenever. Still in 2024 I weep when I hear her songs. Patsys manager had the same instructor as Jim Reaves. They both crashed due to spatial disorientation.

I'll never understand why Hollywood changes something like a plane crash. The original event was tragic enough. It didn't need altering. I will say, this is a great movie. Jessica Lange did an amazing job with her portrayal of Pasty. I enjoyed hers better than I Beverly D'Angelo's in Coal Miner's Daughter.

Okay...and a few years later....i forgot to mention that i have a autographed 8 x 10 of Eddie and Tom .The picture is both guys milking Elinore the cow .So now both Eddie and Tom are gone.At least Tom was alive to witness Donald Trump doing exactly what Tom was talking about.

Patsy plane did not hit a mountain it was pilot error in IFR .

Actual crash was at night in bad weather, poor visibility. Pilot Randy Hughes had recently purchased the 1960 Piper Comanche, tail number N7000P and was not instrument rated when he flew into bad weather, experienced spatial disorientation and did the dreaded death spiral into the woods at very high speed. Tough way to go. All 4 onboard knew they were not going to make it.
