Wow what a beautiful fret board!
That’s gorgeous.
Dude, I really want to make one of these kits. Did you follow any guides when making yours? Any advice would be welcome!
Hey thanks for watching and supporting! I didn't follow much for guides I was just going off knowledge for the most part. Best advice is don't rush, errors can be fixed. The most critical is making sure the neck fits right and use a ruler when dry fitting to make sure your strings wont be pointed to far to the left or right, you want them centered. Run the ruler tight to the side of the neck and see where it lines up on the bridge. Give it a go, start with a cheap kit and learn from it. I definitely made mistakes on this one as well. Also one thing I didn't do that I should have was use a sanding sealer before doing any clear coats. Good luck!
@mattiecreates thnx a lot for the advice bro. I hope I can do it later this year. Keep the good vibes, 👌🏼
Beautiful! Thanks for the video as I am starting a tiger today. I like your backscratcher as a tool to help!
Hey! Thanks so much for watching, and yeah the back scratcher is a life saver haha. what kind of medium are you using for your tiger?
@mattiecreates oil
hi, guitar looked amazing, would you mind telling me what products you used, stain, finish, and oils for the finger board etc. thanks!
Goose would be proud. Nice video.
Great finish, what colors did you use for the Leather Dye and how did you dilute? Starting my first Solo finish and really like what you came up with here.
I used fiebings red , yellow and blue leather dye. and to dilute you can use 91 to 99 percent alcohol. The one step i didnt do which is a must is to apply an sanding sealer AFTER you dye it and then sand it back lightly and then apply your clear or oil coat. Also be careful not to sand through the veneer if it has one. but they also apply a sanding sealer so you need to sand that off lightly before you dey it or the dye wont take. be careful
What was the orange coloured spray you used?
I think you are referring to the water? when I spray the lather with water it becomes darker. I do that to make it damp so it can take stamping a lot better.
7:43 Are we not saying phrasing anymore? Lol
😂 you're late to the party

@@mattiecreates He didn't say anything about friendship. Will we be friends? Friend!
Hi! Please tell me, what kind of paint is this? Is it aquatic or not? What's the name? Thanks! The color turned out great! 👍👍👍
Hello. I used leather dye for this. Fiebings leather dye it works great for wood!
@@mattiecreatesThanks! 👍
Really nice job! That top is better than many PRS
Thank you for the kind words! Appreciate that. Thanks for watching.
Been working on a PGK Flying V kit for my son’s Christmas present. I’m not new to woodworking so I thought it wouldn’t be too difficult to get that perfect finish. Wow was I totally wrong. The stain I used for the quilted maple top didn’t penetrate enough and sanded through. The three coats of paint on the back and sides wore through during wet sanding and buffing. The 15 coats of nitro lacquer weren’t put on thick enough and wore through in wet sand and buffing. The three coats of epoxy resin fill I used on the white limba wood wasn’t nearly enough and there were big pours that never got filled…which of course now have white compound built up in them from the buffing. Etc etc etc. the fit and mechanicals are turning out great but the finish….yeah well…”son, I used this technique called relic to finish your guitar….”
@06barcafan10 your son will love it, it is a big learning curve, I started to go through my clear coat as well and as soon as I see some stain colour when wet sanding I stop and put a couple more coats on. But you built it for him, and I'm sure he is going love it and play the heck out of it! Thanks for your comment and for sharing your experience. When you finish it, if you have IG, give me a tag in it. I'd love to see it.
That top is freakin amazing.. You brought it to life my friend..Beautiful finish!..
Thank you I really appreciate that!. I did my best for what I had lol. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.
@mattiecreates The finish looks like a dragon heart or something.. The orange or yellow around the pick up area really adds to the depth..
@@Bmonty7777 Thank you, Yeah i knew i wanted a burst of some type and just played around with the colors i knew i wanted in it.
who is the first background song for this video i want to learn the guitar thanx scott
Honestly it was just a free backtrack I found on UA-cam music section lol if I can find out I'll let you know
@@mattiecreates ok thank you scott
Great build man! I need to get me a kit, your PRS kit turned out great, Id like to get a Ibanez 700 kit, an do the oil rub, like wom Rubio monocoat , depending on wood type, gotta have the curly maple though.
Hey thanks for your kind words! I was going to do a classic shellac French polish on this originally but i could not get any shellac flakes. Have you used Rubio monocoat before?
No I haven't, iv just seen it on the net.
Love the stain, That is excellent, nice quilted top.
@JayceAllanGuitar Thank you. I appreciate the kind words!
Beautiful job man! The burst came out amazing! 👏👏
Thanks! Im pretty happy with it. Appreciate the comment!
Beautiful. Looks like a PRS.
Thanks! Yeah it a PRS copy pretty much. I have always loved the PRS guitars, one day ill own a real one lol. Thanks for watching!!
@ Man look, I wish I had the talent you provided for the world to see here. Most are more concerned with failure while some of the best builders start out like you. You have certainly inspired me with the beautiful work of art you created here.😍😍😍
@@Dre-nr3je I hope you give it a go! Failing is the only way to learn and i assure you i fail at least once on every project i do haha.
nice finish for no lacquer
I did use multiple of polyurethane, honestly i wasn't happy with the poly, ill probably due a true oil or nitro for the next finish. Appreciate your comment and view!
I finished some knife handles with truoil. You can get a glass-like finish, but you can scratch it with a fingernail
The maple top of your guitar is much more beautiful than all 20 plus guitars I have, even expensive ones are less than yours. very very amazing painting! seriously, I wish I would have the maple top like you did. 👏👏
I really appreciate your comment! And yeah i lucked out with nice quilting. the staining with light sand backs each layer really helps build depth. I am thinking about potentially doing a guitar build and give away in the future so stay tuned! Thanks again for your kind words!
But I don’t think it’s a top, it looks thin as a veener.
@@JeanDo yeah Its a VERY thin veneer. not many kits have a solid top unless you are paying out a lot of $$$, the hard part with veneers is not sanding through haha.
Great looking guitar! I have heard a lot about solo guitar kits. They look solid and well made.
@Patrick.B223 i definitely recommend them. The neck is really decent, and the body is solid. I would upgrade the hardware, but that's for any kit, really. Appreciate you watching and commenting!
I like your result! Well done!!!🎉
@ivanlitvinov9917 Thank you Ivan!
@@mattiecreates what lacquer you use for body and neck on this guitar?
@@ivanlitvinov9917 I used a poly urethane but I really didnt like that. Next time im going to do a shellac or oil rubbed finish.
@@mattiecreates what's the reason?
Great build mate! I would have grain filled and coloured the body back as I like darker wood, each to his own though. What are the tuners, pickups like?
@AndrewAHayes Thanks! Yeah I debated grain filling, what i actually did but didn't show was I used an 800 grit and wet sanded with the oil which acted as a natural grain filler. Tuners were garbage I put gold lockers on. Pick ups actually sound ok, I will uploadba video of me playing when I get compressfigured out, it would compress and cut the sound out bad lol. Overall it's pretty decent but I will upgrade the bridge and saddle to gold and grab some alinco pickups
How to buy money
That looks amazing, id do it myself too but I don't think itd come out anywhere near as good Also I don't know what to do lmao
Thank you! , I'm sure if you give it a go it would turn out great, With little bit of time and practice anything is possible. Thanks for watching!
@mattiecreates you got a good video rec so I know what to follow so it looks like yours? I'm super interested in doing one of these but in a yellow burst
@@kenjikodai A yellow burst would be really cool, hope you build it! One thing i didnt do which i would HIGHLY suggest is to spray a sanding sealer AFTER you are done your staining. I will show that process and slow it down alot more on the next build i do.
Great build just wish it was a bit slower so I could see the products you were using at various stages, inspires me to do one.
@@cjturner7477 The next one I will go a bit slower, With the attention spans today I tried to keep it moving quicker lol
This is beautiful bro!! ❤️
Thanks Man!! 🤟
Wow! Great job, you are truly talented. And your drawing are amazing
@Tinman1962-o5d Thank you. I appreciate that!
Master Blaster 😂
Looking good Rock on
Thanks!
do both hold detail equally well?
When it comes so Chavant and Monster clay they are both amazing at holding detail, once cooled you can use tools to get in and make the smallest of details. Thanks for watching :)
Tip: If you want monster clay to go hard quick then get a dust air compressed can and turn it upside down and spray. It will instantly freeze the clay.
yes that works great but can get pricy haha! Thanks for watching
Finally a good sheath for the Garberg, if the producer is unable to make one for a 100 EUR knife. And that sheath looks beautiful, too. How do you plan to feed that leather after you've used an acrylic finish on it?
Hey thanks for watching. The leather has the acrylic finish on the outside but if you do nee to oil it you can oil it from the inside and it will absorb the oil. The acrylic finishes are removable it you want to take them off but I find they seal a lot better and give it a nice water proofing properties.
The music at the end was ridiculously Loud
It was literally my first vids i ever made lol Thanks for your feed back
🗺️,Arkgw,biqd?!
Das is brilliant, you just have to know how to work it. Super sculpy is my least favourite. I really like milliput super fine as well.
Beautiful sheath👍👍👍
Thank you for the kind words! <3
It’s there something like epoxi clay but that dries softer? Like some sort of soft plastic but that you can model with
7:40 You are what?? 🤨
can you mix the Chavant medium and hard to make something in the middle?
yeah definitely. but honestly the medium is pretty firm. Hard is good if you want to do take away sculpting.
Thanks for the informative video. I work with beeswax, but it sticks. I will buy Monster Clay .
you wont be disappointed
I want to make standing snakes and mosaic them (so detail isn’t so important). Which clay would you recommend?
Oh and cosclay is marvelous…I use it for like tails and ears etch…things that can snap off easily…it is wonderfully flexible…very good comprehensive review of clays….wish I had had this when I started many years ago.
Great video. Monster clay is my go to…I like NSP too, but monster is amazing to work with. Only issue is molding is not an easy thing to do to make a permanent sculpture or reproduce. It’s expensive and an art form in and of itself, so I pretty much have switched to polymer…the next best thing for permanency. My sculpts have alot of detail, so making molds is not for me at this time 😥
Super informative thank you! Seeing this I wonder why the soft or even medium version exist, right? I mean if you can soften it for molding, don’t you want your shape to hold as much as possible once you’re done shaping? And then if you want to make any modifications you just soften it up again with heat. So it seems like getting the hard version is a no-brainer. Or am I missing something?
Thanks so much for taking the time to comment. Soft and medium can be use for people with arthritis a lot easier. Also if you want to "quick sketch" and idea you can work the soft a lot faster. And to be honest its all personal preference . Hope the video helped.
What a very informative video, thanks so much. Can we use the torch on Chavant clay to soften it?
