The translation and wording seems pretty close, so that's on the original song. Really, when it comes to anime music, you're often better off not knowing the lyrics, because whatever you imagine they might mean is usually way cooler than what they really mean, lol.
The lyrics work if you think about it from the perspective of someone trying to simply survive a battle with Char, or if you look at it from Amuro's perspective.
